At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the video for "Take on Me" won six awards—Best New Artist in a Video, Best Concept Video, Most Experimental Video, Best Direction, Best Special Effects, and Viewer's Choice—and was nominated for two others, Best Group Video and Video of the Year. It was also nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Video at the 13th American Music Awards in 1986.

On April 30, 2016 over 400 a-ha fans from around the world gathered at Samfunnssalen in Oslo, Norway for the fourth official fan convention, sponsored by a-ha.com and organized in part by fan volunteers.
Even Ormestad was the first guest speaker on the agenda. Even played bass with a-ha on their 'Cast In Steel' tour. He also plays on several 'Cast In Steel' album tracks.

The original version made #20 on the US charts, the highest charting since "Take On Me" was #1.
The original video for this song was set in an abandoned cathedral. Actually, the building had never properly been used as such. It is located in London, England.
This is the only song a-ha has ever re-released as a live recording, and it was the only single from the live album to be released.
A-ha performed this song as a part of their comeback at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 1998 along with a new song, "Summer Moved On."
Paul: "… we wrote 'The Sun Always Shines On T.V.', that Andrew Wickham's secretary felt was a hit. She convinced him to make room for it. When we recorded it, we were really sick with influenza. Magne and Morten were lying in the studio on camping beds with high fevers."

The UK TV show "Blue Peter" featured a making-of-the-video special on "Hunting High and Low" to demonstrate the morphing effects of Morten into animals.
The basic idea behind the video is that love brings a man back in
various forms to be near the woman he loves.
Coldplay has been known to perform this song in concert, with a special nod to the band of their initial inspiration.

This was the first release from a-ha's newest album of 1988 of the same title.
"The Living Daylights" - featured on the new album - had actually been released earlier with a slightly different version.
a-ha went on a world tour promoting this album, which lead to some of the legendary concerts of South America over the next few albums.
There were more videos from the album "Stay On These Roads" than from any other previous record.
This is the last Top 5 ranked song in the UK, reaching #5 on March 27 1988.
A 7" single of this song was released in the US, but did not chart.

The theme of this video is a robbery gone wrong.
This is actually the second version of this video, the first version did not feature any of the scenes of Morten singing alone.
The video was filmed entirely with a specific technique of mobile cameras.
This is the only commercially available song that a-ha has remade unless you include "Velvet," first released with Savoy, or Magne's "Dragonfly."
Following the success of this song, a-ha became closer to the Everly Brothers, who had originally written the song. They were each presented with a set of guitars by the Everly Brothers that a-ha continue to use.
Morten's solo career spawned from his ability to learn to play and write music from that guitar.
The video was filmed in Big Timber, Montana.

A-ha (spelled "a-ha" in lower-case on their releases) was a Norwegian pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. The band was founded by Morten Harket (vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards), and Pål Waaktaar (guitars). The group initially rose to fame during the mid 1980s after being discovered by musician and producer John Ratcliff and had continued global success in the 1990s and 2000s.
A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album, Hunting High and Low, in 1985. That album peaked at number 1 in their native Norway, number 2 in the UK and number 15 on the U.S. Billboard album chart, yielded two international number-one singles, "Take on Me" and "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", and earned the band a Grammy Award nomination as Best New Artist. In the UK, Hunting High and Low continued its chart success into the following year, becoming one of the best-selling albums of 1986. In 1994, after their fifth studio album, Memorial Beach which failed to achieve the commercial success of their previous albums, the band went on a hiatus.

On April 30, 2016 over 400 a-ha fans from around the world gathered at Samfunnssalen in Oslo, Norway for the fourth official fan convention, sponsored by a-ha.com and organized in part by fan volunteers. Even Ormestad was the first guest speaker on the agenda. Even played bass with a-ha on their 'Cast In Steel' tour. He also plays on several 'Cast In Steel' album tracks. This was a-ha's second hit record, and the first #1 in the UK. The original version made #20 on the US charts, the highest charting since "Take On Me" was #1. The original video for this song was set in an abandoned cathedral. Actually, the building had never properly been used as such. It is located in London, England. This is the only song a-ha has ever re-released as a live recording, and it was the only single from the live album to be released. A-ha performed this song as a part of their comeback at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 1998 along with a new song, "Summer Moved On." The UK TV show "Blue Peter" featured a making-of-the-video special on "Hunting High and Low" to demonstrate the morphing effects of Morten into animals. The basic idea behind the video is that love brings a man back in various forms to be near the woman he loves. "The Living Daylights" - featured on the new album - had actually been released earlier with a slightly different version. a-ha went on a world tour promoting this album, which lead to some of the legendary concerts of South America over the next few albums. There were more videos from the album "Stay On These Roads" than from any other previous record. This is the last Top 5 ranked song in the UK, reaching #5 on March 27 1988. The theme of this video is a robbery gone wrong. This is actually the second version of this video, the first version did not feature any of the scenes of Morten singing alone. The video was filmed entirely with a specific technique of mobile cameras. This is the only commercially available song that a-ha has remade unless you include "Velvet," first released with Savoy, or Magne's "Dragonfly." Following the success of this song, a-ha became closer to the Everly Brothers, who had originally written the song. They were each presented with a set of guitars by the Everly Brothers that a-ha continue to use. Morten's solo career spawned from his ability to learn to play and write music from that guitar. At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the video for "Take on Me" won six awards—Best New Artist in a Video, Best Concept Video, Most Experimental Video, Best Direction, Best Special Effects, and Viewer's Choice—and was nominated for two others, Best Group Video and Video of the Year. It was also nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Video at the 13th American Music Awards in 1986.

On April 30, 2016 over 400 a-ha fans from around the world gathered at Samfunnssalen in Oslo, Norway for the fourth official fan convention, sponsored by a-ha.com and organized in part by fan volunteers.
Even Ormestad was the first guest speaker on the agenda. Even played bass with a-ha on their 'Cast In Steel' tour. He also plays on several 'Cast In Steel' album tracks.

The UK complains and make a big political hoo-ha but the EU are divided and busy doing EU stuff and aren't forthcoming....

"Four hours," shrugs Paul Bühre. "That's normal ... Teens ... With all the hoo-ha, I had hoped to find something a bit more shocking or revealing in Bühre's room than the clothes, three Lord of the Rings posters, a bookcase full of comics, a neat(ish) pile of half-finished history homework and a Star Trek Lego model that he made when he was 12 but, for sentimental reasons, can't bring himself to dismantle ... It's boring....
