Metal

A metal (from Greek μέταλλον métallon, "mine, quarry, metal") is a material (an element, compound, or alloy) that is typically hard, opaque, shiny, and has good electrical and thermal conductivity. Metals are generally malleable — that is, they can be hammered or pressed permanently out of shape without breaking or cracking — as well as fusible (able to be fused or melted) and ductile (able to be drawn out into a thin wire). About 91 of the 118 elements in the periodic table are metals, the others are nonmetals or metalloids. Some elements appear in both metallic and non-metallic forms.

Astrophysicists use the term "metal" to collectively describe all elements other than hydrogen and helium. Thus, the metallicity of an object is the proportion of its matter made up of chemical elements other than hydrogen and helium.

Many elements and compounds that are not normally classified as metals become metallic under high pressures; these are formed as metallic allotropes of non-metals.

Periphery II: This Time It's Personal

Periphery II: This Time It's Personal is the second album by the progressive metal band Periphery, released June 29, 2012 through Roadrunner Records Australia and July 3 through Sumerian in America. It is the first record by the band to feature new members Mark Holcomb and Adam "Nolly" Getgood, replacing Alex Bois and Tom Murphy on guitar and bass, respectively.

Promotion

On May 30, 2012, Periphery posted an album teaser featuring the intro track "Muramasa." The album's first single, "Make Total Destroy," was released on iTunes Tuesday, June 5. On June 14, 2012, the band released the track "Scarlet" on SiriusXM's Liquid Metal channel. The official stream of the song was released on June 28 on Sumerian Records' YouTube channel. The whole album was also streamed on Metal Hammer's website from June 29 for visitors to listen to.

Chart performance

The album sold nearly 12,000 copies in its first week of release, reaching #44 on the Billboard 200 list. In Canada, the album debuted at #89 on the Canadian Albums Chart.

The Lunar Chronicles is a series of five young adult fantasy novels by American author Marissa Meyer. Each book entails a new take on an old fairy tale, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White. The story takes place in a futuristic world where humans, cyborgs, and androids all coexist.

Cinder

Linh Cinder (based on Cinderella), a cyborg living with her stepmother and her two stepsisters, works as a mechanic in a booth at the market place, where she meets Prince Kai, who requests her to fix his personal android. After someone important to Cinder comes into contact with the plague, she is forcibly volunteered for cure testing. As a result, a lot of previously unknown things regarding Cinder's origins surface. At the same time, tensions between Earth and Luna are rising with Prince Kai being caught in the middle of it.

Scarlet

Scarlet Benoit (based on Little Red Riding Hood) is the granddaughter of Michelle Benoit, a farmer and former military pilot who has suddenly gone missing. On Scarlet's journey to find her, Scarlet teams up with and learns from a street fighter named Wolf that her grandmère may be hiding secrets regarding Princess Selene, the Lunar princess. While searching for Michelle, Scarlet ends up meeting Cinder and they work together to stop Queen Levana, Selene's aunt.
