Los Angeles meteorologist Liberté Chan was taken aback when one of her colleagues suggested that she wear a sweater by holding it up on screen during a segment. A local Los Angeles news station has come under fire after it forced a morning meteorologist to cover up with a cardigan live on-air when viewers complained about her sparkling black dress.
Liberte Chan was delivering the 8am weather report on Saturday when a grey cardigan suddenly popped into view.
'What's going on,' she asks morning anchor Chris Burrous, who was off-camera as he held out the sweater. 'You want me to put this on? Why? 'Cause it's cold?'
'We're getting a lot of emails,' he replies as Liberte puts on the cardigan, a confused look on her face. 'There you go.' 'What?' Liberte says, clearly shocked in the middle of her forecast. 'Really? Okay.'
'I look like, a librarian now,' she then says, visibly unhappy with the change. That works,' Burrous jokes. 'It's a librarian going to a cocktail party.'
Liberte tries to make the best of the situation, tying the ends of a cardigan like a wrap as Burrous tells her: 'Everyone's got an opinion on your dress this morning.'
'Alright well, I'm sorry,' Liberte tells her viewers.
'The other dress didn't work. I had to wear something.'
The awkward interruption quickly caught the attention of the Twitterverse, with many saying they were outraged that KTLA forced Liberte to put a cover-up on while she was doing her job.
'Wow KTLA, too slutty, too matronly, too much cleavage, too manly, too casual, too formal,' one user wrote. 'too MUCH BODY SHAMING'.
'You can kinda see that she was f*****g humiliated,' said another. 'Her dress was fine. If I was her I would have walked off on air.'
One person shared a screen grab of a 2012 KTLA weather forecast, in which the male meterologist brought out two models wearing Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie to help with the forecast.
'Double standard much,' the user captioned the picture.
'This is beyond lame,' wrote another. 'Way to NOT stand behind your newscasters, KTLA. Your producer should be ashamed.' Burrous also received plenty of criticism, with one viewer saying he had been 'deeply misogynistic and degrading as hell.'
'There is no justification for what he did. PERIOD', she wrote.
Burrous had previously taken to Twitter to tell viewers that half the emails KTLA received expressed love for the dress while the others hated it.
'Problem solved! Here's our compromise,' he wrote, sharing a picture of Liberte wearing the dress with the grey cardigan.
'Problem solved after you publicly shamed her,' responded one follower.
'No shame. Just kidding, offering up sweater,' Burrous replied. 'Good friends kid each other. Sorry I offended. We have a good time.'
But the explanation wasn't enough for one viewer, who wrote: 'Nobody buys your excuse. You humiliated her on air. Shame on you.' 'I completely understand meant in jest but I see how it seemed,' Burrous conceded. 'I am sorry. I hope you will give me another chance.'
Burrous brought Liberte on air to 'make peace on the dress', telling viewers that 'we kid each other all the time'.
Liberte also revealed the outfit that she had originally planned to wear that morning, a white and black patterned dress that had been too light for the green screen.
'That's not any more revealing,' Chris said. 'I think it's the shimmer that throws people off.'
The KTLA newscasters also revealed the nasty emails they had received from morning viewers who were upset that Liberte dared to wear a fun, sparkling dress on the AM newscast.
'Liberte Chan's dress is totally inappropriate, looks like she didn't make it home from her cocktail party,' wrote one viewer.
'Weather girl looks like she never went home from last night's stripper gig,' another claimed.
‘Liberte Chan looks like she stayed out late at a party and came to work in the same dress. Not appropriate for the morning weather report,' one viewer wrote. The shows producers should not have allowed her to do it in a cocktail dress. Handing her the sweater during the report was also in poor taste, they should have given it to her afterwards.'
'All in all, poorly done all around.’
Another said the KTLA management had shown 'very poor judgement' by letting Liberte do the weather in a 'New Year's Eve cocktail dress.'
'Wow, people are mad,' Liberte can be heard in the off-camera Facebook Live video. 'It's a dress people!'
'Can we talk about my weather performance?' she asks.
Liberte then turned to the camera to give her final statement on the dress.
‘Wow, okay everyone. I had this dress on,’ she says, having the camera pan on the white and black patterned dress.
‘It did not work and I had a backup and that’s it people. I don’t know why everyone’s hating. I don’t know what to tell you. You know, it’s a black dress.’
‘I’m sorry if I was inappropriate,’ she then said.

A Los Angeles news anchor saved his colleague from a green screen mishap after a wardrobe malfunction.
Meteorologist, Liberté Chan, was wearing a white J.McLaughlin dress with a coral pattern when she walked in front of the weather map.
In her line of work, the dress she chose was literally the wrong color as it instantly lit up and the temperatures were projected on the dress.
The video begins with Chan walking on camera in front of the weather map and as she begins to talk about the weather, she notices her dress.
'Oh I'm going to have to change, look at this. That's a bummer. I thought it was light enough,' she said.
Her colleague and anchor, Chris Burrous immediately ran to the rescue.
He took off his suit jacket and helped her put it on.
Toward the end of the video she started dancing around and sporting his oversized jacket.
'When she wears it, that suit looked like it belonged to like, Cannon. You remember that detective show? It's like huge,' said Burrous.
Chan joked: 'Do you have a belt? I could belt it.'
After a few laughs and jokes about how huge the jacket was on her, she attempted to run through the forecast.

Meteorology

A local Los Angeles news station has come under fire after it forced a morning meteorologist to cover up with a cardigan live on-air when viewers complained about her sparkling black dress.
Liberte Chan was delivering the 8am weather report on Saturday when a grey cardigan suddenly popped into view.
'What's going on,' she asks morning anchor Chris Burrous, who was off-camera as he held out the sweater. 'You want me to put this on? Why? 'Cause it's cold?'
'We're getting a lot of emails,' he replies as Liberte puts on the cardigan, a confused look on her face. 'There you go.' 'What?' Liberte says, clearly shocked in the middle of her forecast. 'Really? Okay.'
'I look like, a librarian now,' she then says, visibly unhappy with the change. That works,' Burrous jokes. 'It's a librarian going to a cocktail party.'
Liberte tries to make the best of the situation, tying the ends of a cardigan like a wrap as Burrous tells her: 'Everyone's got an opinion on your dress this morning.'
'Alright well, I'm sorry,' Liberte tells her viewers.
'The other dress didn't work. I had to wear something.'
The awkward interruption quickly caught the attention of the Twitterverse, with many saying they were outraged that KTLA forced Liberte to put a cover-up on while she was doing her job.
'Wow KTLA, too slutty, too matronly, too much cleavage, too manly, too casual, too formal,' one user wrote. 'too MUCH BODY SHAMING'.
'You can kinda see that she was f*****g humiliated,' said another. 'Her dress was fine. If I was her I would have walked off on air.'
One person shared a screen grab of a 2012 KTLA weather forecast, in which the male meterologist brought out two models wearing Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie to help with the forecast.
'Double standard much,' the user captioned the picture.
'This is beyond lame,' wrote another. 'Way to NOT stand behind your newscasters, KTLA. Your producer should be ashamed.' Burrous also received plenty of criticism, with one viewer saying he had been 'deeply misogynistic and degrading as hell.'
'There is no justification for what he did. PERIOD', she wrote.
Burrous had previously taken to Twitter to tell viewers that half the emails KTLA received expressed love for the dress while the others hated it.
'Problem solved! Here's our compromise,' he wrote, sharing a picture of Liberte wearing the dress with the grey cardigan.
'Problem solved after you publicly shamed her,' responded one follower.
'No shame. Just kidding, offering up sweater,' Burrous replied. 'Good friends kid each other. Sorry I offended. We have a good time.'
But the explanation wasn't enough for one viewer, who wrote: 'Nobody buys your excuse. You humiliated her on air. Shame on you.' 'I completely understand meant in jest but I see how it seemed,' Burrous conceded. 'I am sorry. I hope you will give me another chance.'
Burrous brought Liberte on air to 'make peace on the dress', telling viewers that 'we kid each other all the time'.
Liberte also revealed the outfit that she had originally planned to wear that morning, a white and black patterned dress that had been too light for the green screen.
'That's not any more revealing,' Chris said. 'I think it's the shimmer that throws people off.'
The KTLA newscasters also revealed the nasty emails they had received from morning viewers who were upset that Liberte dared to wear a fun, sparkling dress on the AM newscast.
'Liberte Chan's dress is totally inappropriate, looks like she didn't make it home from her cocktail party,' wrote one viewer.
'Weather girl looks like she never went home from last night's stripper gig,' another claimed.
‘Liberte Chan looks like she stayed out late at a party and came to work in the same dress. Not appropriate for the morning weather report,' one viewer wrote. The shows producers should not have allowed her to do it in a cocktail dress. Handing her the sweater during the report was also in poor taste, they should have given it to her afterwards.'
'All in all, poorly done all around.’
Another said the KTLA management had shown 'very poor judgement' by letting Liberte do the weather in a 'New Year's Eve cocktail dress.'
'Wow, people are mad,' Liberte can be heard in the off-camera Facebook Live video. 'It's a dress people!'
'Can we talk about my weather performance?' she asks.
Liberte then turned to the camera to give her final statement on the dress.
‘Wow, okay everyone. I had this dress on,’ she says, having the camera pan on the white and black patterned dress.
‘It did not work and I had a backup and that’s it people. I don’t know why everyone’s hating. I don’t know what to tell you. You know, it’s a black dress.’

One person shared a screen grab of a 2012 KTLA weather forecast, in which the male meterologist brought out two models wearing Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie to help with the forecast.
'Double standard much,' the user captioned the picture.
'This is beyond lame,' wrote another. 'Way to NOT stand behind your newscasters, KTLA. Your producer should be ashamed.' Burrous also received plenty of criticism, with one viewer saying he had been 'deeply misogynistic and degrading as hell.'
'There is no justification for what he did. PERIOD', she wrote.
Burrous had previously taken to Twitter to tell viewers that half the emails KTLA received expressed love for the dress while the others hated it.
'Problem solved! Here's our compromise,' he wrote, sharing a picture of Liberte wearing the dress with the grey cardigan.
'Problem solved after you publicly shamed her,' responded one follower.
'No shame. Just kidding, offering up sweater,' Burrous replied. 'Good friends kid each other. Sorry I offended. We have a good time.'
But the explanation wasn't enough for one viewer, who wrote: 'Nobody buys your excuse. You humiliated her on air. Shame on you.' 'I completely understand meant in jest but I see how it seemed,' Burrous conceded. 'I am sorry. I hope you will give me another chance.'
Burrous brought Liberte on air to 'make peace on the dress', telling viewers that 'we kid each other all the time'.
Liberte also revealed the outfit that she had originally planned to wear that morning, a white and black patterned dress that had been too light for the green screen.
'That's not any more revealing,' Chris said. 'I think it's the shimmer that throws people off.'
The KTLA newscasters also revealed the nasty emails they had received from morning viewers who were upset that Liberte dared to wear a fun, sparkling dress on the AM newscast.
'Liberte Chan's dress is totally inappropriate, looks like she didn't make it home from her cocktail party,' wrote one viewer.
'Weather girl looks like she never went home from last night's stripper gig,' another claimed.
‘Liberte Chan looks like she stayed out late at a party and came to work in the same dress. Not appropriate for the morning weather report,' one viewer wrote. The shows producers should not have allowed her to do it in a cocktail dress. Handing her the sweater during the report was also in poor taste, they should have given it to her afterwards.'
'All in all, poorly done all around.’
Another said the KTLA management had shown 'very poor judgement' by letting Liberte do the weather in a 'New Year's Eve cocktail dress.'
'Wow, people are mad,' Liberte can be heard in the off-camera Facebook Live video. 'It's a dress people!'
'Can we talk about my weather performance?' she asks.
Liberte then turned to the camera to give her final statement on the dress.
‘Wow, okay everyone. I had this dress on,’ she says, having the camera pan on the white and black patterned dress.
‘It did not work and I had a backup and that’s it people. I don’t know why everyone’s hating. I don’t know what to tell you. You know, it’s a black dress.’
‘I’m sorry if I was inappropriate,’ she then said.

A Los Angeles news anchor saved his colleague from a green screen mishap after a wardrobe malfunction.
Meteorologist, Liberté Chan, was wearing a white J.McLaughlin dress with a coral pattern when she walked in front of the weather map.
In her line of work, the dress she chose was literally the wrong color as it instantly lit up and the temperatures were projected on the dress.
The video begins with Chan walking on camera in front of the weather map and as she begins to talk about the weather, she notices her dress.
'Oh I'm going to have to change, look at this. That's a bummer. I thought it was light enough,' she said.
Her colleague and anchor, Chris Burrous immediately ran to the rescue.
He took off his suit jacket and helped her put it on.
Toward the end of the video she started dancing around and sporting his oversized jacket.
'When she wears it, that suit looked like it belonged to like, Cannon. You remember that detective show? It's like huge,' said Burrous.
Chan joked: 'Do you have a belt? I could belt it.'
After a few laughs and jokes about how huge the jacket was on her, she attempted to run through the forecast.

It is not the generation nor persistence of the trails that interests me, it is that other aircraft, some leaving trails and others not, INVESTIGATE how other previously left trails have deformed. That deformation reveals that something meteorological is occurring at that PRECISE location. This simple observable FACT, tells all that some aircraft are not up there flying cargo from point-to-point, but are doing atmospheric surveillance.
