The Church of Ireland and Catholic archbishops of Armagh are to travel with 30 young people on a special centenary pilgrimage to the sites of the Battle of the Somme.

Archbishop Richard Clarke and Archbishop Eamon Martin are going with people from across the island of Ireland to remember the war dead.

Northern Ireland fans in France for Euro 2016 have attended a memorial service at the Ulster Tower in Thiepval to remember soldiers from the 36th Ulster and 16th Irish Divisions who fought in World War One.

The ceremony was organised by the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs, and UUP MLA Danny Kennedy said it had been "an honour" to take part.  

A County Fermanagh farmer has been convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to cattle and failure to dispose of animal carcases.

Patrick Gerard Donnelly (61), of Cabra in Irvinestown, pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to two months imprisonment on each, to run concurrently.

A man in his 70s has died after a collision between a car and a lorry on the Ballyutoag Road near Dundrod.

The road is closed between the Seven Mile Straight and Carnaghliss Road junctions, and police say people travelling to Belfast International Airport on that road should allow extra time for their journey.

Police have set up checkpoints close to the scenes of a two "terrorist hides" near Larne in the hope of gathering as much information as possible about the discoveries.

Bomb making components and explosives were found at Carnfunnock Country Park in March and Capanagh Forest last month.

Agriculture Minister Michelle McIlveen said the "majority of current headquarter staff don't want to relocate" to the proposed new building at Ballykelly.

Northern Ireland MPs have paid tribute to Labour Party MP Jo Cox who was murdered last week.

Speaking on behalf of the Northern Ireland members in the House of Commons, the DUP's Nigel Dodds said: "A life like Jo Cox's should not be defined by its end - it was her life that counts, and that's what we remember today."

Northern Ireland will "acutely feel the implications of a Brexit, constitutionally, financially and politically", according to Ulster Unionist leader Mike Nesbitt.

He adds that if voters "cherish" the union, they should vote Remain, adding that would "not only strengthen our hand in fighting for reform within the EU, it also strengthens our United Kingdom".

A UK exit from the EU will be "bad for the economy on this island, business, farmers, the environment and workers' and human rights", according to Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams.

Speaking at Stormont today, he said: "We don't want to see the return of border checkpoints between the north and south or restrictions on trade."

Dying and gravely ill patients in parts of County Down have to wait up to 90 minutes for an ambulance, the Irish News reports.

New bus lanes are being opened on east Belfast's Upper Newtownards Road as part of the Belfast Rapid Transit scheme, the Department for Infrastructure says.

The lanes, located between Holywood Arches and Sandown Road, will be introduced on Monday 27 Jun, operating from 07:30 to 09:30 and from 15:30 to 18:30 between Monday and Friday.

A County Tyrone man who faced three trials over the one-punch killing of a teenager Jason McGovern (pictured) has been formally acquitted of his manslaughter.

Mark Donnelly, 23, from Greencastle, was cleared of the New Years' Eve 2012 manslaughter of Mr McGovern, from County Monaghan, after the prosecution offered no evidence against him.
