Timothy Robert Commerford (born February 26, 1968) is an American musician, best known as the bassist and backing vocalist for the American rap metal band Rage Against the Machine (1991–2000; 2007–2011) and the now-defunct supergroup Audioslave (2001–2007). Since 2013 and 2015, he has been the lead singer and bassist of the bands Future User and Wakrat, respectively.
He was ranked eighth on Paste magazine's list of "20 Underrated Bass Guitarists" in 2014.
Timothy Robert Commerford was born on February 26, 1968 in Irvine, California, the youngest of six children. His father, an aerospace engineer, worked on the Space Shuttle, and his mother was a teacher/mathematician. He is of French and Irish descent. In the fifth grade, he met future bandmate Zack de la Rocha. Around this time, his mother was diagnosed with cancer. Shortly thereafter, his father divorced and remarried. Commerford stayed with his father, while his mother moved to Sacramento, California to live with her sister while seeking treatment. During this time, de la Rocha introduced him to bass, and Commerford soon found an outlet in music and poetry, playing bass in the band Juvenile Expression. Commerford's mother died of brain cancer in 1988.
Rage Against the Machine (also known as RATM or just Rage) is an American rap metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1991, the group consisted of rapper and vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk. They draw inspiration from early heavy metal instrumentation, as well as hip hop acts such as Afrika Bambaataa,Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys and Dutch crossover band Urban Dance Squad. Rage Against the Machine is well known for the members' leftist and revolutionary political views, which are expressed in many of the band's songs. As of 2010, they have sold over 16 million records worldwide.
In 1992, the band released its self-titled debut album, which became a commercial and critical success, leading to a slot in the 1993 Lollapalooza festival. In 2003, the album was ranked number 368 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The band did not release a follow-up record until 1996, with Evil Empire. The band's third album, The Battle of Los Angeles, followed in 1999, and in 2003, the album was ranked number 426 on the same list. During their initial nine-year run, they became one of the most popular and influential bands in music history, according to music journalist Colin Devenish. They were also ranked No. 33 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The band had a large influence on the nu metal genre which emerged during the second half of the 1990s.

TMZ is a celebrity news website that debuted on November 8, 2005. It was a collaboration between AOL and Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros., until Time Warner divested AOL in 2009. The name TMZ stands for thirty-mile zone, the historic "studio zone" within a 30-mile (50 km) radius centered at the intersection of West Beverly Boulevard and North La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
TMZ's managing editor is Harvey Levin, a lawyer-turned-journalist who was previously a legal expert for the Los Angeles television station KCBS-TV. The site claims that it does not pay for stories or interviews; however, Levin has admitted that TMZ does "sometimes pay sources for leads on stories". Levin has stated that "everything is researched and vetted for accuracy." A companion television series, TMZ on TV, debuted on September 10, 2007.
Seven months prior to the official launch of TMZ, America Online (AOL) had hinted that it was planning to launch a Hollywood and entertainment-centric news site that would be produced in conjunction with Telepictures Productions and had shown interest in launching a website featuring a focus mainly on celebrities. At the time of the launch, AOL confirmed that the site would primarily feature and consist of Hollywood gossip, including interviews, photos and video footage of celebrities and information pertaining to industry news on movies, television shows, etc. The site was described as "an effort to further feed the current American obsession with celebrities". Mike Shields of MediaWeek.com wrote, "the site also boasts of an expansive collection of archived star photos and videos", allowing fans to "trace changing hairlines and waistlines of their favorites performers over the years".

Prophets of Rage (Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ Lord) came together during 2016’s tumultuous election to combat the coming storm. Fresh off the road and riled up following last summer’s highly successful “Make America Rage Again” tour, the group knew it could evolve from protest performance art with a tactical mission, to a stand-alone entity with creative ideas all its own. At its core, Prophets of Rage functions not only on a love of music, but a deep belief in its power as a tool, and a weapon. The group stopped by the BUILD Studio to discuss their new self-titled album.

Hi people! This week I have the next lesson in the Slap Bass series dealing with some very popular slap bass riffs. Much of the previous Slap lessons dealt with the mechanics and technique of playing the style. But that is such a small part of learning to slap. The best progress can be made once you have those basics nailed so you can just dive into learning some tunes. Here I've covered 5 of the most popular bass riffs out there that should be within the reach of anyone with a basic grasp of the playing style. All Lesson Material (tracks and tab) can be downloaded here: http://www.talkingbass.net/top-5-must-know-slap-riffs/ Below is a list of the tunes and the time within the video (in case you want to skip to your favourite): 1) Higher Ground - Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Flea) - 1:48 2) ...

Tim Commerford is seen here with the rest of the members of Audioslave Chris Cornell, Brad Wilk & Tom Morello and we briefly get a quick glimpse of Tim's youth and what he was into as well as the reaction Audioslave received while they were filming their EPIC music video "Cochise", filmed at Sepulveda Dam in L.A. Sept. 25-26 2002 & was produced by Rick Rubin in 2002 on the bands self titled album "Audioslave" which was released October 14th 2002. Tim seems to be completely un-phased by Chris as he hums a tune as we hear Tim speak. This song was originally titled "Save Yourself", true! Mr. Rollins neighbourhood is at the end!. Wake up, sheeple. Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford has some theories about ISIS and the moon landing. The rocker and self-described "conspiracy theorist" doesn't believe the violent terrorist group ISIS or the 1969 moon landing are real. In a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone, Commerford shared his conspiratorial theories about why neither is to be believed. Here are his views on ISIS: "I don't believe that all the different factions in the Middle East have gotten together and said, 'OK, we all hate each other and we all hate America, so let's all put on the ISIS uniform and join forces and just become ISIS.' http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/hzKCEwAl3uI/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Article & photos: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/24785-rig-rundown-tim-commerford Tim Commerford is currently pulling double duty by touring with his new project Wakrat, which opens for his other project, Prophets of Rage. In spite of doing two soundchecks and two shows per night, Commerford was kind enough to meet with PG’s John Bohlinger to give us a look at his mighty rig. Tim Commerford has played a lot of different basses over the years, but recently switched back to the Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay. Commerford travels with a bevy of stock StingRays that are strung up with Ernie Ball Slinky strings (.50–.105). For Wakrat, all the basses live in a pair of tunings: C#–G#–C#–F# or D#–G#–C#–F. For Commerford’s clean tone, he uses a 1978 Ampeg Classic SVT running into an Ampeg ...

Article & photos: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/24897-rig-rundown-band-of-skulls Premier Guitar’s Chris Kies chills with Band of Skulls cofounders Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson to talk gear, the benefit of expert setups, and why their boards are in constant flux thanks to each other. Guitarist/frontman Russell Marsden’s longtime No. 1 was his first real guitar—a late ’90s Fender Jazzmaster that his parents got him after graduating high school. It has been featured on all four of the band’s albums and used nearly every night since the band formed. The body and neck on the guitar are original but not much else is as he’s swapped out the original bridge for an upgraded Mastery, put on an aftermarket pickguard designed after the aesthetics of a ’59 Jazzmaster, put in custom-wo...
