Dr. Hauschka is the brand name given to the range of skin care and cosmetics made by the German company WALA Heilmittel GmbH.

The brand name originates from WALA's founder Dr. Rudolf Hauschka.

The WALA laboratories were established in 1935 making medicines from water-based plant extracts using the rhythmic manufacturing process. In 1967 WALA launched the current Dr.Hauschka Skin Care brand to the market.

Dr.Hauschka was a joint winner in the 2006 Brands with a Conscience Award from the Medinge Group. The company's approach is based on the 20th century theory of anthroposophical medicine.

Hauschka is the alias of Düsseldorf-based pianist/composer Volker Bertelmann.

Bertelmann's work is based upon an exploration of the prepared piano, contradicting the preconceived idea of the piano as a pure-toned, idealized instrument. Bertelmann attaches various objects to the piano's strings to create a sound described as "a delicate, sometimes haunting form of experimental piano music". Hauschka's music borrows from John Cage's prepared piano works as well as the compositions of Erik Satie.

In 2007 his first album for Fat Cat Room to Expand was released to critical acclaim.

When preparing for performances, it initially took Bertelmann two hours to set up his piano. He has since decreased preparation time to 10 minutes, due to the constraints of certain commercial venues.

In November 2008, Hauschka toured the American East Coast with Icelandic band, múm. In 2009 Hauschka toured Japan, including 10 concerts in 8 cities.

Shu Uemura (植村 秀, Uemura Shū^?, June 19, 1928 – December 29, 2007) was a Japanese make-up artist and founder of the Shu Uemura international cosmetics line which bears his name.

A native of Tokyo, Shu Uemura reportedly first became interested in hairstyling and make up as a teenager while recovering from a severe illness which left him bedridden. He enrolled at the Tokyo Beauty Academy, becoming the only male student in a class of 130 pupils.

His first experience in film make-up occurred during the filming of 1957's Joe Butterfly, which was partially shot in Japan. Uemura left Japan in the late 1950s to try to break into the film and television make-up business.

Uemura's big break came on the set of the 1962 film, My Geisha. The film's regular make up artist fell ill and Uemura, who was working as a Hollywood beautician at the time, was called in to fill in for the sick artist. Uemura gained critical acclaim for transforming actress Shirley MacLaine, a Caucasian, into a Japanese woman. He received praise from both My Geisha's filmmakers and its cast, including MacLaine. He soon became one of Hollywood's favorite artists. He began working with well known Hollywood personalities, usually as a make-up artist apprentice, including Edward G. Robinson, Frank Sinatra, and Lucille Ball. Among his notable early work was on Frank Sinatra's 1965 film, None But the Brave.
