Kelston is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, 4 miles (6.4 km) north west of Bath, and 8 miles (12.9 km) east of Bristol, on the A431 road. It is situated just north of the River Avon, close to the Kelston and Saltford locks. The parish has a population of 248.
Kelston was part of the hundred of Bath Forum. The name of the village was recorded as Calveston in 1178. The familiar -ton ending indicates farmstead or estate. The first part of the name may mean "belonging to a person, possibly Celf or Caelf". However, it may mean a place where calves were reared.
It is the site of the Elizabethan Kelston Manor House, built by the Harington family and demolished in the 18th century.
Kelston railway station was on the now-closed Midland Railway line between Bath Green Park and Mangotsfield. The station was three-quarters of a mile across the fields from the village, near the bridge that carried the line and a footpath across the Avon to Saltford. It was known in railway timetables as "Kelston (for Saltford)". It opened four months after the railway line opened in 1869 and closed at the end of 1948. Trains continued to use the line until its closure in 1966 under the Beeching Axe. The track is now used for the Bristol & Bath Railway Path.
A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".
Kelston Boys' High School ("KBHS") is an all-boys state secondary school in Kelston, a suburb in the Waitakere region of Auckland, New Zealand. It was created in 1963 when the roll of Kelston High School (formed in 1954) became too large for the site on the corner of Archibald and Gt North Rds. The boys moved to a new site further down Archibald Road, leaving the original site to be the home of Kelston Girls High School (now Kelston Girls College).
Although the school is known for the strength of its various sports teams, it has also had some notable achievements in music, dance and theatresports and produced some outstanding academic results.
The school has consistently had strong rugby teams in the top Auckland division, producing several All Blacks and international players. Kelston Boys have won the National top 4 rugby tournament five times (1989, 1995, 1996,1999, and 2011) sharing the most wins with Wesley College. Kelston Boys have also won the Condor National sevens tournament five times (2002, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013). The former All Black coach Graham Henry is a former headmaster. The previous principal, who retired in April 2011, Stephen Watt played for the Auckland regional team in the 1970s (where he was affectionately nicknamed 'The Kicking Prop' for his unusual goalkicking prowess). Brian Evans is the current principal; he coached the women's Black Ferns national side to rugby world cup victory in 2010.

Today we go for a drive so we can have a look at a private toll road built by businessman Mike Watts to save commuters a 14 mile detour when the Bristol to Bath road collapsed just outside Kelston. Extract from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelston_toll_road As it was anticipated that the A431 would stay closed until the end of 2014, on 1 August 2014 the Kelston toll road opened for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and a toll fee of £2 per car. The entrepreneur was 62-year-old Mike Watts who followed a suggestion made by his wife. The toll station was without boom barriers. Without the Kelston toll road some road drivers would have needed to follow a detour of up to 10 miles (16 km), though much less for a journey between Bristol and Bath where the parallel A4 road could be used. By early Octobe...

If you want something doing do it yourself - that's what UK resident Mike Watts did when a landslide closed a local road. The thoroughfare was expected to be closed for months creating great inconvenience. So Watts went ahead and built one of his own. Now he is charging locals to use it so they can cut their journey times by one hour, but he needs 1200 cars a day paying two pounds each to cover his costs. … READ MORE : http://www.euronews.com/2014/10/16/enterprising-uk-resident-builds-his-own-private-toll-road What are the top stories today? I hate the sound, of every object
Of everything she could have touched,
( Of everything she could have touched )
But I keep them anyway, Oh please help me out
Please help me out ladies and gentlemen !
I know I can touch the surface but she’s underwater
It’s kinda strange cause, the fire still burns underwater !
The day, or the night I don’t bother
It feels like a forseable murder
In wich I am no more the killer
But the Cure !
Oh David you know this is urgent
This is urgent ladies and gentlemen !
We had to find a way to understand all the moves
That she wanted me to dance
We had to find a way to kill the sound of the voice
Telling me how much you’re worth
And then I’ve burned my hopes
Pretending it was nothing more
( Spoken part )
Ok ladies and gentlemen
If you can take something out of this
This is like a learning process
Now you can close your eyes and take a breath
Let’s pretend we’re wearing the same skin
You are holding the mike
There will be like a connection or something...
( Back to singing )
I got something in my neck
It feels like everything she could have done
It’s cold and rough and
It reminds me the way she use to speak...
Sing the words you don’t know
As we sing the sound from the Organ
You won’t remember where you go !
And where you were !
You won’t remember where you go !
And where you were !
