Ford Focus

The Ford Focus is a compact car (C-segment in Europe) manufactured by the Ford Motor Company since 1998. Ford began sales of the Focus to Europe in July 1998 and in North America during 1999 for the 2000 model year.

In Europe, North and South America, and South Africa, the Focus replaced the various versions of the Ford Escort and Ford Laser sold in those markets. In Asia and Australasia, it replaced the Ford Laser. As of the first half of 2012, the Focus surpassed the Toyota Corolla to become the world's best selling automobile nameplate.

First generation (1998–2004)

Ford of Europe introduced the Focus in 1998 to the European market as a replacement for the Ford Escort. The decision to name the new car the "Ford Focus" was made in early 1998, as Ford's overheads had been planning to keep the "Escort" nameplate for its new generation of small family cars. A last minute problem arose in July 1998 when a Cologne court, responding to a case brought by the publisher Burda, ordered Ford to avoid the name "Focus" for the cars in the German market since the name was already taken by one of its magazines (Focus). This eleventh hour dispute was resolved, however, and the car was launched with the name Focus. The Focus MK1 was awarded the 1999 European Car of the Year award. There is also a tale floating around certain editions of Motor Trend magazine that Ford executive Jac Nasser actually made the decision of the name Focus the night of that year's Geneva Auto Show because he was annoyed that one of the other names under consideration, Fusion (not the same as the mid-size automobile Ford Fusion), had leaked to the media.

Ride Out

"Ride Out" is a 2015 song by Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale, YG and Rich Homie Quan taken from the soundtrack of the American action film Furious 7. It was released as a single to promote the film along with "Go Hard or Go Home", performed by Wiz Khalifa and Iggy Azalea, on February 17, 2015.

Bernard Edwards, Jr., better known as Focus..., is an Atlanta-based record producer who first rose to fame when signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. Since then he has produced tracks for Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Jadakiss, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé Knowles, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Bishop Lamont, Tony Yayo, Stat Quo, Outlawz, The Game, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, Mac Dre, Ice Cube, Anderson Paak, Jon Connor, Joe, Marsha Ambrosius , Slum Village amongst many others.

Biography

Focus... is the son of the late Bernard Edwards, co-founder of disco and R&B band Chic. He was born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in the Tri-State Region. Edwards, Jr credits his father with his love for the production side of music, which he developed from an early age, attending numerous studio sessions with his father.

Focus...'s production talents were first recognized by Dr. Dre when an artist Edwards, Jr had produced, Daks, greatly impressed the Aftermath label head. signed Focus... so that the two could then continue working together.

Jeremih (album)

Jeremih is the eponymous debut studio album by American R&B recording artist Jeremih; it was released on June 30, 2009, by Def Jam Recordings. The album debuted at number 6 on the US Billboard 200, selling 69,000 copies in its first week.

Background

While attending Columbia College Chicago, Jeremih collaborated with record producer Mick Schultz. Together, they wrote all the songs, while Schultz produced the entire album. The duo recorded approximately 20 songs for the album. In February 2009, Jeremih met with Def Jam CEO Russell Williams and executive vice president of A&R Karen Kwak. After performing for the two, Jeremih was signed to Def Jam that same day.

Promotion

Prior to its release, the album was previewed exclusively on social networking website, including MySpace.

Singles

"Birthday Sex"; the album's lead single was released on March 24, 2009. It topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The single peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100.
