Rason
Rason (formerly Rajin-Sŏnbong; Korean pronunciation: [ɾasʰʌn, ɾadʑin sʰʌnboŋ]) is a North Korean city and ice-free port in the Sea of Japan (East Sea of Korea) in the North Pacific Ocean on the northeast tip of North Korea. It is in the Kwanbuk region and location of the Rason Special Economic Zone.
In South Korean pronunciation, the initial "R" of the name is pronounced as "L," as per standard Korean phonology. In 2000 the name was shortened from "Rajin-Sŏnbong" to "Rason". During the 1930s, the Japanese called it Rashin; at that time it was an important port at the end of a railroad line. It was liberated by the Red Army on 14 August 1945.
Before 1991, Rason was used by the Soviet Union as an alternative warm water port in case Vladivostok was unavailable. From 1993 to 2004, it was administered separately from North Hamgyŏng as the Directly Governed City (Chikhalsi) of Rason. Prior to 1993 and from 2004 to 2009, the city had been part of the North Hamgyŏng Province. Since 2010, the city is a "Special City", again breaking from provincial control but different to its older designation as a "Directly Governed City". It is unclear what this means in practice.

Give Me a Reason
"Give Me a Reason" is a song by Irish pop rock group The Corrs. It was released on 12 March 2001 as the third single taken from their third studio album In Blue (2000). The song was written and produced by The Corrs. "Give Me a Reason" is a dance-pop song, and received favourable reviews from music critics. The song was a moderate success in Belgium and New Zealand (reaching the top-ten and top-twenty, respectively), while it reached the top-forty in the United Kingdom.
Background and release
"Give Me a Reason" was released as the third single from In Blue (2000) on 12 March 2001. The CD single included two versions of "Give Me a Reason" (the album version and the Cutfather & Joe Remix, which was used for the music video), a "Live Instrumental" version of "Paddy McCarthy" and a "Live" version of "Queen of Hollywood". "Give Me a Reason" was written and produced by The Corrs (Andrea, Caroline, Sharon and Jim). The dance-pop song, has Andrea on the centre speaker with the backing vocals on the other speakers. The song was included on their compilation album, "Best of The Corrs" (2001).

Just Give Me a Reason
"Just Give Me a Reason" is a song co-written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Pink featuring fun.'s lead singer Nate Ruess. The song was chosen as the third single from Pink's sixth studio album, The Truth About Love (2012). "Just Give Me a Reason" is a pop ballad written by both artists and produced by Jeff Bhasker. It starts off with a simple melody played on the piano, as Pink starts to sing the first verse and chorus, the latter of which introduces drum machines and bass. The second verse is then sung by Ruess, and the rest of the song is sung as a duet. The song ends with a piano solo, similar to the intro. It has a duration of four minutes and two seconds. Prior to its release, the song charted in many regions due to strong digital sales, which was the reason for its release. The song is about the desire to hold on to a relationship even when it appears to be breaking down.
The song received critical acclaim, with many critics deeming the song as the best track within the album. The song attained worldwide success, topping the charts in twenty-one countries including the United States, Austria, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Iceland, Ireland, Lebanon, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Slovakia, Sweden, as well as peaking within the top five in more than ten countries as United Kingdom, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Israel, Norway, Switzerland and Spain. In the US, it became Pink's fourth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. It also became her third number-one on the Billboard Digital Songs chart after "So What" (2008) and "Fuckin' Perfect" (2010). "Just Give Me a Reason" has sold more than 4 million digital downloads in the United States.

Visit to the Strange Land of North Korea (DPRK)
This is a film about a traveller in the strange land called North Korea or officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Tours to the DPRK are tightly scheduled and normally include a visit to the demilitarised zone, museums and statues to Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il, Pyongyang’s amusements parks, chandelier-laden metro system and showcase entertainment facilities such as the Circus and the SchoolChildren's Palace. In addition to these, I took a flightseeing flight on a Mi-17 helicopter over the DPRK's capital city of Pyongyang. As well, as my tour was an extended one, it also went the northeast of the DPRK to the tri-country area around the Rason Special Economic Zone where the DPRK, China and Russia conjoin. Life In North Korea
Whilst most people who travel to North Korea visit Pyongyang, the capital, we were fortunate enough to visit Rason, a small city in the north of North Korea. Life there is very different to Pyongyang. There are farmers, fishermen and factory-workers. Two guides, who were incredibly proud of their country, showed us around the city and helped us to paint an accurate portrait of what life is like in more rural parts of North Korea. The people were beautiful, the scenery was stunning, the colours were vivid and the people we met were genuine characters, loving and full of life - this is the North Korea that I wanted to show. This is a film about a traveller in the strange land called North Korea or officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Tours to the DPRK are tightly scheduled and normally include a visit to the demilitarised zone, museums and statues to Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il, Pyongyang’s amusements parks, chandelier-laden metro system and showcase entertainment facilities such as the Circus and the SchoolChildren's Palace. In addition to these, I took a flightseeing flight on a Mi-17 helicopter over the DPRK's capital city of Pyongyang. As well, as my tour was an extended one, it also went the northeast of the DPRK to the tri-country area around the Rason Special Economic Zone where the DPRK, China and Russia conjoin.
The cult of the Kims is perhaps the most extraordinary feature of the DPRK. Images or statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il are found everywhere. These graven images are effectively worshipped. This film shows scenes of the veneration of the Kims (Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il) that were witnessed.
The government guides control both what you can see and also what you can take photographs of. If you take a photograph of the military, construction or something that they feel does not portray the DPRK in a positive light then they force you to delete the photograph. On exiting the country, the border guards also reviewed photographs to see if they conformed to the aforementioned standards. Despite these restrictions, this film contains images that accurately portray the state of the country as I saw it.

Day -1:
- 3-hr flight from Hong Kong 香港 to Beijing 北京, then 3-hr High Speed train to Shenyang 瀋陽. Stayed in Shenyang 瀋陽.

Day 0:
- 4-hr train from Shenyang 瀋陽 to Yanji 延吉, the seat of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture 延邊朝鮮族自治州. Stayed in Yanji 延吉.

Day 1:
- An hour from Yanji 延吉 to Tumen 圖們 where we crossed the border by foot. We crossed the Tumen Border Bridge 圖們國境大橋 and walked into Namyang 南陽 of North Korea. A special spot where you could walk back and forth, or just stand across the borderline, with one foot in China and the other in North Korea.
- We visited a house that Kim Il-sung once stayed during war then left Namyang 南陽 after lunch. There's always performance by the beautiful waitresses at all restaurants in North Korea.
- Then it's 3-hr ride to Hoeryong 會寧.
- We visited the birthplace of Kim Jung-suk, drank some water which is claimed to make you an hour younger for one sip.
- Fun sports time with students at Kim Ki-song Middle School 金基松中學. Sports never fails to bring people tgt.
- Stayed in Hoeryong 會寧.

- Hoeryong Revolutionary Museum 會寧革命博物館
- Tumen River 圖們江 which is called Dumas River 豆滿江 by North Koreans.
- 3-hr ride to Chongjin 清津
- Short walk the city followed by school visits at Chongam Kindergarten 青岩幼稚園 and Chongjin Foreign Languages High School 清津外語中學. Always the best time for me to meet these lovely students and share about all interesting topics. We even had an session teaching them about Hong Kong.
- Stayed in Chongjin 清津.

Day 3:
- 2-hr (maybe) ride to Chilbosan 七寶山 where we had a picnic and met a local tour groups from Chongjin. They were so happy visiting Chilbo and excited to join in photos with us!
- Visited the Inner Chilbo 內七寶, Outer Chilbo 外七寶, Kaesimsa 開心寺 (drank water from well again).
- Our next stop at Sea Chilbo 海七寶 where I had a fun sand battle with the local kids at the beach. Then we took a boat ride with all the sand in my ears. There are a lot of local tourists dancing, playing volleyball and you are always welcome to join.
- Stayed at the one and only Homestay Village 民宿 in North Korea. And we had a birthday candlelight dinner for a girl in our group. Our local tour guides brought the big big creamy cake all the way from Chongjin 清津 and prepared this surprise. Touching indeed. And the cake tastes good.

Day 4:
- Goodbye to the hosts and back to Chongjin 清津 for lunch. Then another long bus ride to Rason Special City羅先特別市.
- We said goodbye to the local guides who were with us since Day 1 and met the other group of local guides at the "border" of Rason. (Rason is administrated separately and not under any provincial control.)
- Checked in the hotel after dinner and we split into 2 groups. One for massage and one for coffee.

Day 5:
- Visited the Golden Triangle Bank 金三角銀行 where we could exchange some local currency for purchasing stuff later at the market. And I bought a local Rason 羅先 credit card with $25RMB.
- Visited the can't-miss bronze statue of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jung-il where a lot of locals are cleaning and sweeping in the area.
- Had a visit to the Bag Factory. We tried on some trendy school backpack.
- Then spent some time at the Seaside Park 海岸公園 which is a popular place for local couples to hangout. We got to play with kids and bought some local snacks there.
- Visit to the very large Rason orphanage. A very new furnished one. With swimming pool, football field, volleyball court etc. Didn't manage to meet too many kids though. The guides said they were on holiday...
- The best time for me again. Met these students at the Rason Foreign Languages High School 羅先外語中學. And this time I taught some Cantonese such as "Leng zai" (handsome guy) and "leng nui" (pretty girl). LOL
- Then to Rajin Primary School 羅津小學. We watched the performance tgt with a tour group from China. These kids are just too amazing for their young age.
- Had a buffet dinner at the Grand Emperor Hotel 英皇娛樂酒店 which is owned by the famous Hong Kong entrepreneur Stanley Ho. We had a walk in the casino where the Chinese came over to gamble.
- We stayed in the resort 琵琶別墅 of Kim Il-sung (different block).

Day 6:
- Early lunch in Rason then ride to the border. We passed through the immigration and custom check at Quanhe Port 圈河口岸 then took a coach and crossed the Tumen River Bridge 圖們江大橋 into Hunchun 琿春 of China.
- Long train ride (5 hours I think) back to Shenyang 瀋陽. And stayed there for a night and flied back to HK the next day.

Whilst most people who travel to North Korea visit Pyongyang, the capital, we were fortunate enough to visit Rason, a small city in the north of North Korea. Life there is very different to Pyongyang. There are farmers, fishermen and factory-workers.
Two guides, who were incredibly proud of their country, showed us around the city and helped us to paint an accurate portrait of what life is like in more rural parts of North Korea. The people were beautiful, the scenery was stunning, the colours were vivid and the people we met were genuine characters, loving and full of life - this is the North Korea that I wanted to show.
The film was shot in 2015, on an iPhone, using Filmic Pro.

Sources say that what's going on in Rason Special Economic Zone could be another sign of the ongoing purge in North Korea following the execution of Jang Song-thaek, uncle of the North Korean leader, last year.
Hwang Sung-hee reports. This is the Rason Special Economic Zone,... one of North Korea's most ambitious attempts at economic reform.
But since the execution of Jang Song-thaek, the once-powerful uncle of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the once-dynamic district has become a ghost town.
Jang had been in charge of the development project, working closely with Beijng to attract Chinese investment.
Sources say that several North Korean officials who worked with Jang on the project have also been purged... as the North continues to remove Jang's close aides from the ranks of the ruling elite.
South Korea's Unification Ministry said that is a highly likely scenario, as North Korea is reshuffling party officials following Jang's execution, and those involved in the Rason project will likely not be an exception.
The ministry could not, however, provide details on the issue.
At the time of Jang's execution, the North had accused him of selling land in the Rason economic zone to China at giveaway prices.
"Jang had no scruples about committing such a treacherous act last May as selling land in the Rason economic zone to a foreign country for a period of five decades under the pretext of debt."
Sources say the officials who took part in negotiations with China on the land sale were the first on the list to be questioned.

In its battle against guns, New York City traumatizes law-abiding gun owners who pass through New York and its airports with guns. One man was even arrested for traveling with an empty magazine.
Bills have been filed in both chambers of Congress to make gun permits valid in all states, which would prevent cases like these.
Stossel interviews Patricia Jordan and Avi Wolf, who were arrested at the airport. Patricia had tried to declare her gun, which was unloaded and in a TSA-approved case. Avi was trying to declare an empty gun magazine–essentially a piece of metal with a spring in it.
For their effort they spent a day in jail. They were threatened with three years and six months in jail–the mandatory minimum for having a gun in New York. They spent months worrying about how to beat the charge. Each spent more than $15,000 in legal bills.
Eventually the government let them off with a violation–"public disorder."
Stossel says: Give me a break. He confronts the Queens District Attorney's office that prosecutes such cases.

16:02 - 16:32 We dine at a Russian bar/restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants in Rason due to the large number of foreigners doing businesses here.
16:33 - 17:15 I get a stored value cash-card from the Golden Triangle Bank as a souvenir. They cannot be used outside of Rason as there is another cash-card system for the rest of the country.
17:16 - 18:14 We visit a shoe factory in Rason
18:14 - 19:02 We come Tumangang where we can see the three borders of Russia, China and the DPRK.
