The Yuan dynasty (Chinese: 元朝; pinyin: Yuán Cháo), officially the Great Yuan (Chinese: 大元; pinyin: Dà Yuán; Mongolian: ᠶᠡᠬᠡ ᠦᠨ ᠤᠯᠤᠰ, Yehe Yuan Ulus), was the empire or ruling dynasty established by Kublai Khan, leader of the Mongolian Borjigin clan. Although the Mongols had ruled territories including today's North China for decades, it was not until 1271 that Kublai Khan officially proclaimed the dynasty in the traditional Chinese style. His realm was, by this point, isolated from the other khanates and controlled most of present-day China and its surrounding areas, including modern Mongolia and Korea. It was the first foreign dynasty to rule all of China and lasted until 1368, after which its Genghisid rulers returned to their Mongolian homeland and continued to rule the Northern Yuan dynasty. Some of the Mongolian Emperors of the Yuan mastered the Chinese language, while others only used their native language (i.e. Mongolian) and the 'Phags-pa script.
The Yuan dynasty is considered both a successor to the Mongol Empire and an imperial Chinese dynasty. It was the khanate ruled by the successors of Möngke Khan after the division of the Mongol Empire. In official Chinese histories, the Yuan dynasty bore the Mandate of Heaven, following the Song dynasty and preceding the Ming dynasty. The dynasty was established by Kublai Khan, yet he placed his grandfather Genghis Khan on the imperial records as the official founder of the dynasty as Taizu. In the Proclamation of the Dynastic Name (《建國號詔》), Kublai announced the name of the new dynasty as Great Yuan and claimed the succession of former Chinese dynasties from the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors to the Tang dynasty.
Genghis Khan (/ˈdʒɛŋɡɪs ˈkɑːn/, often pronounced /ˈɡɛŋɡɪs ˈkɑːn/;Mongol: [tʃiŋɡɪs xaːŋ]; c. 1162 – 18 August 1227), born Temüjin, was the founder and Great Khan (emperor) of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest contiguous empire in history after his demise.
He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia. After founding the Mongol Empire and being proclaimed "Genghis Khan", he started the Mongol invasions that resulted in the conquest of most of Eurasia. These included raids or invasions of the Qara Khitai, Caucasus, Khwarezmid Empire, Western Xia and Jin dynasties. These campaigns were often accompanied by wholesale massacres of the civilian populations – especially in the Khwarezmian and Xia controlled lands. By the end of his life, the Mongol Empire occupied a substantial portion of Central Asia and China.
Before Genghis Khan died, he assigned Ögedei Khan as his successor and split his empire into khanates among his sons and grandsons. He died in 1227 after defeating the Western Xia. He was buried in an unmarked grave somewhere in Mongolia at an unknown location. His descendants extended the Mongol Empire across most of Eurasia by conquering or creating vassal states out of all of modern-day China, Korea, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and substantial portions of modern Eastern Europe, Russia, and Southwest Asia. Many of these invasions repeated the earlier large-scale slaughters of local populations. As a result, Genghis Khan and his empire have a fearsome reputation in local histories.

The World of Khubilai Khan: Chinese Art in the Yuan Dynasty - A Retrospective
This educational video is a compilation of several video clips about the Mongol Empire, Genghis Khan, and the Yuan Dynasty in China. It is to be used for my Social Studies 8 curriculum - Ch12 Modern China.
In this long overdue episode with a deceiving title we don’t actually get around to the Yuan Dynasty. However a nice handy and confusing overview tracing the rise of the Mongol nation is presented which includes a bio on Genghis Khan. We’ll get to rise of Kublai Khan this time and look at the Yuan Dynasty next episode. -Video Upload powered by https://www.TunesToTube.com
Laszlo finishes up the story of the Yuan Dynasty, founded in 1271. The parts of China not yet conquered were done in by 1276 and the last holdouts gone by 1279. But the Great Yuan didn't last long. This episode takes a nice little overview of the dynasty, its slow demise and the legacy they left. -Video Upload powered by https://www.TunesToTube.com

The Song dynasty is often described as an early modern economy. It marked a lot of economical changes from previous dynasties. Starting with the decentralisation of power and reduced economical involvement, it brought on industrial growth and agricultural expansion. Although being forced to advance in military technology due to wars with the Liao and the Jurchen, the Song would eventually fall to the Mongols. Crumbling under Genghis Khan's attacks it would only take one generation until his successor Kublai Khan would declare a new Yuan Dynasty. In 1860, the Anglo-France joint force burned the Yuanming Yuan after their three days plundering during the second Opium War. The Yuan dynasty was a vast empire founded by Mongol leader Kublai Khan in China.During its existence, its territory was divided into the Central Region governed by the Central Secretariat and places under control of various provinces or Branch Secretariats , as well as the region under the Bureau of Buddhist and Tibetan Affairs .In addition, the Yuan emperors held nominal suzerainty over the western Mongol khanates, but in reality none of them were governed by the Yuan dynasty due to the division of the Mongol Empire. Yuan poetry refers to those types or styles of poetry particularly associated with the era of the Yuan dynasty , in China.Although the poetic forms of past literature were continued, the Yuan period is particularly known for the development of the poetic aspects included in the complex mix of different art forms which characterize Chinese opera, namely the qu or fixed-tone pattern type of verses that were delivered by the actors of these shows.Although the language of Yuan poetry is still generally considered to be Classical Chinese, a certain vernacular aspect reflecting linguistic changes can be seen in some of the fixed-rhythm verse forms, such as Yuan ci and qu.Certain aspects of Yuan poetry can be understood in the context of the social and political changes which took place as part o...

Hab ich was gespürt?
Sie holt sich noch 'n Wein
und lässt sich wieder treiben,
schwer zu beschreiben
Wenn sie tanzt, wenn sie tanzt,
Ich stehe da und kann's nicht fassen,
was passiert hier?
Was ist gescheh'n?
Will keinen Augenblick verpassen,
