Do you have to spend $1500+ to get a high quality scope? No you do not and the Internet is sometimes wrong when it comes to “tactical scopes.” Funny thing is my several of these top TNP scopes are not so-called “tactical scopes” at all. Generally anything wearing that title will be heavier and more costly and you’d be wise to avoid some of those offerings. Instead we often go to the “hunting” category of magnified optics to find amazing value, functionality, lightweight, ballistic ranging, and low light performance. The top two I review here are in that category. In this feature length review a lot of ground is covered on not just five but several more excellent scopes. We will review some past winners in TNP like the Burris Fullfield 30 and II and Bushnell Elite 3200 series, still excellent scope choices, and review what makes each a smart purchase. POU is foundational and you will need to REALISTICALLY determine what magnification level, weight, performance, and illumination levels you might need. A portion is even devoted to the importance of the red dot/reflex sight in most engagements. The Bushnell TRS-25, Aimpoint Pro/ACO/Micro/ML, Trigicon ACO, Voretex Strikfire series are discussed. How do you use adjustable objective rifle scopes? Ill teach you. Using these adjustable objective scopes is rather easy - But many people don't know how to use them or what they exactly do. I demonstrate how adjustable objectives work by aiming at some targets and showing the sight picture. In a nuttshell, the adjustable objective gives your rifle scope a focus, giving you a more crisp sight picture and also can be used to guess your targets range with a little practice!
**There is more to OA scopes then what I show, this is the basics, you can learn how to use paralax as a refrence point and determine range with a greater value of accuracy, I may cover this in a future video**

In this video Chad goes over the procedure to properly install a quality scope including scope and ring selection, setting eye relief and scope level, and the proper technique to secure your rings at the recommended torque setting. Some rings require a process called "lapping" to uniform the inside diameter however we are using a set of precision ground rings which do not require this step. These rings are worth the extra cost if they are available for your application. We hope you enjoy this video and learn something, we have much more to come with this project.

The ATN X-sight is a digital day and night capable rifle scope available in a 3-12 power and 5-18 power variant sharing the same electronics. Built around an Obsidian core processor, the X-Sight behaves as much as a GPS-enabled video camera as it does a gun sight.
In addition to allowing you to switch between day and night vision modes as needed, the X-Sight can record through-scope video and take still photos for storage on a micro SDCard. Under the same water resistant cap as the micro SD slot, the X-Sight has micro USB and Micro HDMI outputs for remote access and viewing, even in real time.
The X-Sight also provides a digital compass and GPS geotagging to help with navigation as well as to allow you to display where you’ve been on a map. Though I have not used this feature yet, I can see how it could be handy when combined with arial photos in determining where best to hunt your next time out.
ATN includes an 850 milliwatt infrared illuminator, which is necessary when ambient light drops below a certain point. It is adjustable for focus, brightness, and aim and comes with an integrated toolless Picatinny mount. This is so you can mount it directly on the X-Sight’s own Picatinny rail section or anywhere else you might have Picatinny on your weapon.

A telescopic sight, commonly called a scope, is a sighting device that is based on an optical refracting telescope. They are equipped with some form of graphic image pattern (a reticle) mounted in an optically appropriate position in their optical system to give an accurate aiming point. Telescopic sights are used with all types of systems that require accurate aiming but are most commonly found on guns. Other types of sights are iron sights, reflector (reflex) sights, and laser sights.
The first experiments directed to give shooters optical aiming aids go back to the early 17th century. For centuries different optical aiming aids and primitive predecessors of telescopic sights were created that had practical or performance limitations.
The first documented telescopic rifle sight was invented between 1835 and 1840. In a book titled The Improved American Rifle, written in 1844, John R. Chapman documented the first telescopic sights made by Morgan James of Utica, NY. Chapman, the author, being a civil engineer, gave James the concepts and some of the design, whereupon they produced the Chapman-James sight. In 1855, William Malcolm of Syracuse, NY began producing his own sight. Malcolm used an original design incorporating achromatic lenses like those used in telescopes, and improved the windage and elevation adjustments. They were between 3X and 20X or greater. Malcolm's and those made by Mr. L.M. Amidon of Vermont were the standard during the Civil War.

In this video Chad goes over the procedure to properly install a quality scope including scope and ring selection, setting eye relief and scope level, and the proper technique to secure your rings at the recommended torque setting. Some rings require a process called "lapping" to uniform the inside diameter however we are using a set of precision ground rings which do not require this step. These rings are worth the extra cost if they are available for your application. We hope you enjoy this video and learn something, we have much more to come with this project.

The ATN X-sight is a digital day and night capable rifle scope available in a 3-12 power and 5-18 power variant sharing the same electronics. Built around an Obsidian core processor, the X-Sight behaves as much as a GPS-enabled video camera as it does a gun sight.
In addition to allowing you to switch between day and night vision modes as needed, the X-Sight can record through-scope video and take still photos for storage on a micro SDCard. Under the same water resistant cap as the micro SD slot, the X-Sight has micro USB and Micro HDMI outputs for remote access and viewing, even in real time.
The X-Sight also provides a digital compass and GPS geotagging to help with navigation as well as to allow you to display where you’ve been on a map. Though I have not used this feature yet, I can see how it could be handy when combined with arial photos in determining where best to hunt your next time out.
ATN includes an 850 milliwatt infrared illuminator, which is necessary when ambient light drops below a certain point. It is adjustable for focus, brightness, and aim and comes with an integrated toolless Picatinny mount. This is so you can mount it directly on the X-Sight’s own Picatinny rail section or anywhere else you might have Picatinny on your weapon.

Many people have commented that the shooter is using his right eye while shooting left handed. Some people have been very demeaning about his shooting style. We thought everyone should know that the shooter is disabled so that people will think twice about making fun of him. I am sure all those that commented so far were not aware of his affliction or they would have had more compassion. The shooter suffers from a degenerative eye disease called Keratoconus. He never received treatment for it as a child so it has gotten very bad for him. He has learned to overcome his affliction by compensating with his Right Eye. This is why he adopted his unorthodox shooting style. He is Left Handed but he needs to use his right eye to aim. We hope that this information will end the ignorance and allow the true honorable nature of the shooting community to show through. We are all better than that.

The red illuminated G2 Mil-Dot reticle features 11 brightness settings accessible from the center of the side focus parallax knob via Steiner's slick integrated rotary knob system. For those who may need a scope for serious duty, the objective bell of the Military Tactical series is threaded for use with anti-reflection and laser filtration devices.
