The City of Brussels (French: Ville de Bruxelles [vil də bʁysɛl] or alternatively Bruxelles-Ville [bʁysɛl vil], Dutch: Stad Brussel [stɑd ˈbrʏsəl] or Brussel-Stad) is the largest municipality of the Brussels-Capital Region, and the de jure capital of Belgium.
The City of Brussels is a municipality consisting of the central historic town and certain additional areas within the greater Brussels-Capital Region, namely Haren, Laeken and Neder-Over-Heembeek to the north, and Avenue Louise and the Bois de la Cambre park to the south.
On 1 January 2015, the City of Brussels had a total population of 175,534. The total area is 32.61 km² which gives a population density of 5,464 inhabitants per km². As of 2007, there were approximately 50,000 registered non-Belgians in the City of Brussels.
At first, the City of Brussels was simply defined, being the area within the second walls of Brussels, the modern-day small ring. As the city grew, the surrounding villages grew as well, eventually growing into a contiguous city, though the local governments retained control of their respective areas.
Brussels (French: Bruxelles, [bʁysɛl]; Dutch: Brussel, [ˈbrʏsəl]), officially the Brussels-Capital Region (French: Région de Bruxelles-Capitale, Dutch: Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest), is a region of Belgium comprising 19 municipalities, including the City of Brussels which is the capital of Belgium, the French Community of Belgium, and the Flemish Community. The region has a population of 1.2 million and a metropolitan area with a population of over 1.8 million, the largest in Belgium.
Since the end of the Second World War, Brussels has been a major centre for international politics and has become the polyglot home of numerous international organisations, politicians, diplomats and civil servants. Brussels is the de facto capital (or one of three capitals including Luxembourg and Strasbourg) of the European Union as it hosts a number of principal EU institutions. The secretariat of the Benelux and the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are also located in Brussels.

Yeol's Brussels is build with Cities Skylines vanilla version, without mods or cheats. It has 100K healthy and happy inhabitants with an ok-ish traffic. It took about 80 hours to build, and it still doesn't seem finished. Remarkable are the huge farming zone in the city centre, split cargo and passengers train tracks, one big integrated city, lots of green corners, one huge centralized garbage dump area for the entire city and large bus terminals. http://bookinghunter.com/ Brussels is the capital of Belgium and the de facto capital of the European Union (EU). It is also the largest urban area in Belgium, comprising 19 municipalities, including the municipality of the City of Brussels, which is the de jure capital of Belgium, in addition to the seat of the French Community of Belgium and of the Flemish Community. The most important places to visit in Brussels: The Atomium (amongst the world's most fascinating buildings, represents a cell of iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. You can even take a walk inside), Manneken Pis (simply put, a statue of a boy urinating. No one expected a famous Brussels landmark. Often it's adorned with costumes), Royal greenhouses (built all the way back in 1873, it's a massive complex of greenhous...
Brussels, being the center of the European Union, is not only the capital of Belgium, but of whole Europe. The mediaval city core and square determine the atmosphere of the whole city. The Grand Palace is surrounded by magnificent baroque buildings, which were once centers of famous guilds. The building of the City Hall is remerkably beautiful. Not far away stands the Menneken Pils, one of the symbols of Brussels. In the elegant passages and on the streets one can find such Belgian rarities as lace, pralines, and beer. The most notable sights in the city are the Parliament and the City Hall, but we must not forget the Museums showing us the works of the authors of the Low Countries. Near the triumphal arch stands the famous Atomium, which was the symbol of the 1958 World Fair. We can take ...

Take a tour of Brussels City Hall in Brussels, Belgium -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. The kind of city hall that a city has says a lot about what kind of city it is. The city hall of Brussels, Belgium reflects the city's reputation for beauty, history, and culture. This ornate, Gothic building was originally constructed in the early years of the fifteenth century. The soaring, airy tower, which is over 300 feet tall, was an added feature that replaced the belfry about fifty years after the initial construction. The city hall has an asymmetrical design that is the result of differing stages of construction of the building. Brussels' mayor still has his office here, following several renovation projects in the 20th century.
Brussels - Belgium Travel guide, Vacation, Tourism World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Brussels - Belgium Travel guide http://bit.ly/HPaiOv From its breathtaking medieval centre to its 21st-century temple to Surrealism, the new Magritte Museum, Brussels offers the visitor a great deal more than just beer and chocolate and is resoundingly unlike its unfortunate staid image as the home of EU beaurocrats. Indeed, Brussels is a creative, dynamic city. Its compact city centre is clustered with bars, restaurants and museums set along cobbled streets. Inevitably, most tourists head to the Grand-Place. With its ornate Flemish guild houses, impressive Town Hall and buzzing atmosphere, it would be difficult to find a more beautiful square in the whole of Europe. It deservedly is a ...

Brussels Travel Guide - Brussels (French: Bruxelles, Dutch: Brussel) is the capital city of Belgium and of Brussels Capital Region. It is entirely surrounded by Dutch-speaking Flanders and its constituent Flemish Brabant province. As headquarters of many European institutions, Brussels might also be considered something of a capital for the European Union. Being at the crossroads of cultures (the Germanic in the North and the Romance in the South) and playing an important role in Europe, Brussels fits the definition of the archetypal "melting pot", but still retains its own unique character. The population of the city of Brussels is 1 million and the population of Brussels metropolitan area is just over 2 million. Enjoy Your Brussels Travel Guide!

The Grand Place or Grote Markt (Dutch) is the central square of Brussels. It is surrounded by opulent guildhalls and two larger edifices, the city's Town Hall, and the Breadhouse building containing the Museum of the City of Brussels. The square is the most important tourist destination and most memorable landmark in Brussels. It measures 68 by 110 metres (223 by 361 ft), and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the 10th century, Charles, Duke of Lower Lorraine constructed a fort on Saint-Géry Island, the furthest inland point at which the Senne river was still navigable. This was the seed of what would become Brussels. By the end of the 11th century, an open-air marketplace was set up on a dried-up marsh near the fort that was surrounded by sandbanks. The market was called the Nedermer...
Manneken Pis is a landmark small bronze sculpture in Brussels, depicting a naked little boy urinating into a fountain's basin. It was designed by Hiëronymus Duquesnoy the Elder and put in place in 1618 or 1619. The 61 cm tall bronze statue on the corner of Rue de l'Etuve and Rue des Grands Carmes was made in 1619 by Brussels sculptor Hieronimus Duquesnoy the Elder, father of the more famous François Duquesnoy. The figure has been repeatedly stolen: the current statue dates from 1965. The original restored version is kept at the Maison du Roi/Broodhuis on the Grand Place. There are several legends behind this statue, but the most famous is the one about Duke Godfrey III of Leuven. In 1142, the troops of this two-year-old lord were battling against the troops of the Berthouts, the lords of G...

Democracynow.org - Belgium’s capital city of Brussels is on its highest alert as residents remain on lockdown. People are being told to stay away from their windows, and schools remain closed as police and soldiers carry out raids in the search for suspects in the Paris attacks ten days ago that killed 130 people. Overnight raids resulted in 16 arrests. No guns or explosives were found, and Salah Abdeslam, the main suspect in the Paris attacks who drove to Brussels afterward, remains at large. Meanwhile, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel says Brussels will remain under the country’s highest level of security threat, meaning the threat of an attack is "serious and imminent." We speak with Belgian-born human rights activist Peter Bouckaert, Human Rights Watch’s emergencies director, who ...
