Aircraft spotting or plane spotting is the observation, photographing, and logging of the registration numbers of aircraft, which includes gliders, balloons, airships, helicopters, and microlights.
Aviation enthusiasts have been watching airplanes and other aircraft ever since they were invented. However, plane spotting was not considered a distinct hobby until the second half of the 20th century.
The development of technology and global resources enabled a revolution in spotting. Point and shoot cameras, DSLRs & walkie talkies significantly changed the hobby. With the help of the internet, websites, such as FlightAware, have made it possible for spotters to track and locate specific aircraft from all across the world. Websites, such as Airliners.net, allow spotters to upload their shots or see pictures of aircraft spotted by other people from all over the world.
When spotting aircraft, observers generally notice the key attributes of an aircraft, such as a distinctive noise from its engine or the number of vapour trails it is leaving. Observers assess the size of the aircraft and the number, type and position of its engines. Another distinctive attribute is the position of wings relative to the fuselage and the degree to which they are swept rearwards. The wings may be above the fuselage, below it, or fixed at midpoint. The number of wings indicate whether it is a monoplane, biplane, or triplane. The position of the tailplane relative to the fin(s) and the shape of the fin are other attributes. The configuration of the landing gear can be distinctive, as well.

Plot: Five people are sitting in a New York bar with a mysterious Mr. Ohman, when they hear the news that the godless Communists are invading the good ol' U.S. of A. The five rush off to various sections of the country to do their part to stop the invasion, when an A-bomb crashes down upon Manhattan.

An absolutely fantastic trip to the very plane spotter friendly Amsterdam Schiphol Airport that puts Heathrow to shame. I had a fantastic time capturing the great diversity of aircraft with my new camcorder which included 777F_s and many MD11_s. A second trip is being planned to catch anything I missed on the Wednesday (Which was quite a lot.) Enjoy!

Hello everyone, Welcome to my first trip report, which is of our amazing flight home to Toronto from our March Break holiday to Barbados. This flight has been one of my most interesting flights I have been on to date. On March 11, 2016, I woke up to find out that our Air Canada Rouge flight, which is what we were supposed to be on, was cancelled. But, it was only for the better! It turned out that the Boeing 767-300ER operated by Rouge, all of a sudden became a mainline Boeing 777-300ER. That was a huge upgrade for a Barbados to Toronto flight. This meant that this flight had oversold! Originally, we had "Preferred Seats" when we booked with Rouge, so due to the last minute aircraft switch, we were placed in Air Canada's NEW PREMIUM ECONOMY CLASS! Air Canada's Premium Economy class wa...
Saturday & Sunday, 2/6 - 2/7/2016 - We take a break from Hawaiian videos in the interest of honoring a legend in our community. On this weekend Bobby & I tailgate in anticipation of Jay's arrival then spend a day with the man himself. The one who has inspired so many to pursue their passions. Jay from O'Hare is probably the most well known plane spotter out there & we thoroughly enjoyed combining our very different styles. So prepare to bear witness to many sights no man hath born witness to before. Jay - The Man - in action from behind the scenes. Bear in mind before bearing witness that it gets raucous, so desensitize oneself prior to viewing. . . .
11 Little Known Facts About The F-117 Nighthawk | F-117 Is Still Flying 1) The idea behind stealth aircraft was theorized by a Soviet mathematician, who in the 1960s found that the strength of a radar return wasn't related to the object's size, but instead related to the edge configuration of the object. 2) The US stealth project began in 1975, and the first two prototypes, code name "Have Blue", were built using T-38 jet engines, F-16 fly-by-wire systems, A-10 landing gear, and C-130 environmental systems. 3) The F-117 was made entirely of flat surfaces, because 1970s era computers didn't have enough power to calculate the radar cross-section of curved surfaces. primary 4) The F-117's first flight took place in 1981 - the same year the Space Shuttle flew its first orbit around ear...
