Yi Zeng---Toastmaster CC4 speech, #A Chinese Class# Competing with the Division Champion last year. 怎么样轻松愉快的学习中文 Before my speech, Can i ask how many of you have learnt Chinese and could read chinese.(1.ok, can i ask you one thing? now please pretend you did not know anything.) Come back to my speech title--a Chinese class, you may already have some thoughts about what I am going to talk today. But, what I want to say today is. I am not gonna tell you how to say hello in chinese, which most of you may already know, and may only know which is Nihao, follow me--nihao. Means hello. I am not gonna secar you how difficult it is to learn chinese. yes, there are more than 80,000 Chinese characters. Today, i am gonna tell you to use you imagination to put all the character. Learning and for fun OK, dear toastmaster, fellow toastmasters and most welcomed big boy and girls, are you ready. Now our class begin. Person This is the most simple character in Chinese. How many people could understand the meaning of it? OK, remember what I have told you before the class? Use the imagination, what do you think it should look like? Two person together, guess what, use your imagination, alex and K walking on the street, k walk in front, and Alex follow behind. Yes, it means follow. Open your mouth as wide as possible until it is square, you get a mouth. Now it is your turn. A person inside a mouth. He was trapped, could you imagine what it could means prisoner. Besides, we could also learn some traditional Chinese culture through learning Chinese characters. Remember I have told you that we have nearly 80,000 characters in chinese? But in fact, you only need 1000 character to understand the basic literacy. And you could guess how many character you need to understand 40% of basic literature, enough to read road sign,restaurant menus and understand the basic idea of chinese newspaper? 200. Just use the imagination and the method I just told you, we already conquered nearly 100 characters. See, it is easy. We always say keep learning, but i want to say enjoy learning, learning for fun. Only when you enjoyed and feel it is interesting. Your brain could accept and remember the thing you learn. It is not only about learning Chinese, learning language. It is about everything. I hope you enjoy today’s class. Now the class is going cover, I promise, I won’t give you any homework. Thanks.
