Indirect election is a process in which voters in an election do not actually choose between candidates for an office but rather elect persons who will then make the choice. It is one of the oldest form of elections and is still used today for many upper houses and presidents. This process is also used in many union elections and sometimes in professional, civic, and fraternal organizations.
Some examples of indirectly elected bodies and individuals include:
In a Westminster system, the leader of the majority party in the parliament almost always becomes the prime minister. Therefore, it could be said that the prime minister is elected indirectly.

In the United States the electoral system has not changed, there's a federal government, with elected officials at the national, state and local level and when it comes to the President he or she is elected indirectly by the people, through what's called an electoral college and yet some say it's time an overhaul.
But when it comes to voting in a President those elected have only been either Republican or Democratic, even though there is typically an independent running as well.
Leaving many to say there is far too much discrimination when it comes to politics in America. Still, another issue is the money surrounding politics, where super pacs have taken over and in the case of Republican Mitt Romney who has financial help from supporters of Prime Minister Netanyahu, even while Americans say they want Netanyahu to stop meddling in the US election.
Netanyahu and Romney are long-time acquaintances from their shared past work at Boston Consulting Group, the two also share similar views on many issues including the Middle East.
So far, because of the help from the super rich Romney continues to out fundraiser Obama, the election is November 6.

What is List of Presidents of the United States?
A report all about List of Presidents of the United States for homework/assignment
Under the United States Constitution, the President of the United States is the head of state and head of government of the United States. As chief of the executive branch and head of the federal government as a whole, the presidency is the highest political office in the United States by influence and recognition. The president is also the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. The president is indirectly elected to a four-year term by an Electoral College (or by the House of Representatives should the Electoral College fail to award an absolute majority of votes to any person). Since the ratification of the Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1951, no person may be elected President more than twice, and no one who has served more than two years of a term to which someone else was elected may be elected more than once. Upon the death, resignation, or removal from office of an incumbent President, the Vice President assumes the office. The President must be at least 35 years of age, has to have lived in the United States for 14 years, and has to be a "natural born" citizen of the United States.

Pakistan has sworn in its new president, a conservative who still faces disqualification under the country's constitution.
Rafiq Tarar, a former justice of the Lahore High Court, takes over largely a ceremonial post.
The presidency became vacant on December 2, after a protracted power struggle that paralysed the country amid fears of a military takeover.
Conservative Muslim Rafiq Tarar was sworn in on Thursday as Pakistan's ninth president, but faces a court challenge later this month that could disqualify him.
In a simple ceremony at the presidential palace, Tarar, wearing the traditional Pakistani dress, took the oath of office.
Largely a ceremonial post, the job of president became vacant on December 2, after a protracted power struggle that paralysed the country.
Many at the time feared a military takeover.
The president and Supreme Court chief justice waged a bitter struggle against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his two-thirds majority in Parliament.
In the end, President Farooq Leghari resigned, the chief justice was removed, and Sharif emerged a clear winner.
Tarar, a virtual unknown until his nomination for president by Sharif, is a former justice on the Lahore High Court.
Opposition politicians, led by former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, have called Tarar a "puppet" of Sharif.
Liberals and human-rights activists in Pakistan say his judgements while on the Lahore High Court did not favour minorities or women.
Tarar has spoken out against Pakistan's family laws, which give women the right of divorce and the right to contest for custody of children.
He has also publicly supported harsh Islamic punishments, like the amputation of limbs for theft and the death penalty for blasphemy.
And he has written against the promotion of members of the minority Ahmedi sect to senior government posts or the Supreme Court.
Tarar says the criticism is unfounded and considers himself a liberal.
He won the presidential elections on Wednesday easily.
In Pakistan the president is indirectly elected by lawmakers in the National Assembly, Senate and four provincial parliaments.
He was a virtual certainty from the beginning because Sharif's Muslim League dominates in all but one legislature.
The court will decide on January 12 whether Tarar openly criticised the judiciary, which would disqualify him from holding the office of president.
Tarar denies the charge.

The President of the United States of America (POTUS)[7] is the elected head of state and head of government of the United States. The president leads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces.
The President of the United States is often listed among the world's most powerful people.[8][9][10][11] He is the Commander-in-chief of the world's most expensive military, leads the nation having the largest economy by real and nominal GDP, commands the largest nuclear arsenal and the world's only contemporary superpower. The office of the president holds significant hard and soft power both in the United States and abroad.
Article II of the U.S. Constitution vests the executive power of the United States in the president and charges him with the execution of federal law, alongside the responsibility of appointing federal executive, diplomatic, regulatory and judicial officers, and concluding treaties with foreign powers with the advice and consent of the Senate. The president is further empowered to grant federal pardons and reprieves, and to convene and adjourn either or both houses of Congress under extraordinary circumstances.[12] The President is largely responsible for dictating the legislative agenda of his party and the foreign and domestic policy of the United States.[13] Since the founding of the United States, the power of the president and the federal government has grown substantially.[14]
The president is indirectly elected by the people through the Electoral College to a four-year term, and is one of only two nationally elected federal officers, the other being the Vice President of the United States.[15] The Twenty-second Amendment, adopted in 1951, prohibits anyone from ever being elected to the presidency for a third full term. It also prohibits a person from being elected to the presidency more than once if that person previously had served as president, or acting president, for more than two years of another person's term as president. In all, 43 individuals have served 44 presidencies (Cleveland's two non-consecutive terms each counted) spanning 56 full four-year terms.[16] On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama became the 44th and current president. On November 6, 2012, he was re-elected and is currently serving the 57th term, which ends on January 20, 2017.

In Buckley v Valeo (1976) the Supreme Court addressed the question of whether Congress can limit the amount of money which people contribute directly to a candidate for political office or indirectly by campaigning independently. The Court limited candidate contributions, noting that the Act's "primary purpose [is] to limit the actuality and appearance of corruption resulting from large individual financial contributions." According to the Court, "Of almost equal concern as the danger of actual quid pro quo arrangements is the impact of the appearance of corruption stemming from public awareness of the opportunities for abuse inherent in a re

Imam Muhammad Al Asi previously led the daily and Jum'ah prayers inside the Masjid. His speeches were inspiring, revolutionary and thought provoking, and eventually irritated and threatened the Middle-East Ambassadors who control the Masjid. Finally, the Imam, his family, and other Muslims faithful to the course of Islam were forced out, into the streets. This khutbah originates from the sidewalk across the street from the Islamic Center, currently under seige.

"Money trail", is a catch phrase used to describe any evidence that money, or their equivalents, were passed between two parties. Money trails are left behind when funds are passed through something called a money loop. Unlike money laundering, that tries to wash funds to make them appear clean, money loop funds tend to start clean. However, they become dirty because they were used for a questionable purpose. The term dark money refers to funds that may have been passed into a money loop and not reported to election committees and voters.
Both money laundering and a money loop leave a money trail.

All of the political systems of the independent countries in the Caribbean are technically democratic, although there is some debate about how democratic some of them are, such as the case of Cuba. These political systems differ from each other in terms of their systems of government, political party systems and the electoral systems they use.
The democratic systems in the Caribbean differ in terms of the governmental systems they adopt, which are usually one of two types: presidential or parliamentary. A presidential system is one in which a republic is formed and a constitution establishes a division of powers between the legislative, executive and judicial branches. The president is the leader of the executive branch and has broad legislative authority. The legislative branch, which may be divided into one or two houses (a unicameral or bicameral system) is centered on the congress, which exercises its legislative functions without infringing on the president's legislative rights. The president is directly elected by the voters and not by the congress or parliament. The best known presidential democratic republic in modern history is the United States. Under a parliamentary system, meanwhile, the executive power is elected by the parliament (the legislative power) and must answer to the parliament. This is known as the principle of political confidence, in the sense that the legislative and executive powers are closely tied and the executive depends on the confidence of the parliament to continue in power. In the Caribbean, the only exception to this pattern of presidential and parliamentary systems of government is found in Suriname, which has a hybrid system. In Suriname, since 1991, the country has a political system very similar to a parliamentary system but with a president who is elected indirectly and has considerable constitutional power.
At the same time, many of the islands and territories continue under colonial regimes (such as the cases of Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands) or have been fully incorporated into the country that once colonized them (such as the case of the French islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe and French Guiana). In most of these cases, in terms of local and municipal elections, these governmental systems follow the rules defined by the constitutions, decrees and laws of the empire of which they are a part.

Many of my friends, my colleagues and indirectly others have struggled in noble efforts to provide as many as we can with information and the conclusions that information most strongly suggests with regard to what is being prepared for us.
There is an old saying, "where there is smoke there is fire". Indeed, smoke is issuing forth from sources both at home and abroad. And in unsavory designs long discussed in the highest circles of power. What is avowed among these circles, eternal war, depopulation, the corporate takeover of privatized social services observing only a "bottom line" and not any degree of consumer protection or legal liability... all we see being put into practice with design. But worse than all these is the undeniable encroachment being threatened by any such exercise an operation such as Jade Helm 15 represents. By its very intents that are openly avowed too, in either practice or actual deployment, under the present circumstances, it is an iron fist in our face.
The checks and balance system devised by our forefathers, judicial review by our Supreme Court and the obedience to their oath of office to protect and defend our precious Constitution, by our elected officials, have all been subverted. Lawlessness has become "coin of the realm" as the effects of this treason filter down into all federal agencies depriving them of both mandate and any real service to the public welfare. The new agencies all have one thing in common, greater enforcement of more social encroachment upon the public by agenda.
If we review passed efforts to orchestrate events through fabricated emergencies that now, in retrospect, are proven and the use of these methods even coming to acquire recently a name, false flags, a predictable pattern emerges pointing to outcome. From that we can derive intention, to more greatly assume even the most lawless of all goals, the power of life and death over us. Only by awareness of such obvious intents can we stand any chance to survive the end game Jade Helm 15 warns us, inadvertently or not, coming.
Resolve before hand what you will do when this encroachment is at your door with a battering ram. Do not be unprepared with no such resolve. Know that your coming to be was not meant for you to be treated like human waste but for the greater design of a Universe that has come to treasure you. JCH

Bell won Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and Breckinridge won the rest of the South.
Although Lincoln won only a plurality of the popular vote, his victory in the electoral college was decisive: Lincoln had 180 and his opponents added together had only 123. There were fusion tickets in which all of Lincoln's opponents combined to support the same slate of Electors in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, but even if the anti-Lincoln vote had been combined in every state, Lincoln still would have won a majority in the Electoral College.
The first photographic image of the new president
As Lincoln's election became evident, secessionists made clear their intent to leave the Union before he took office the next March. On December 20, 1860, South Carolina took the lead by adopting an ordinance of secession; by February 1, 1861, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed. Six of these states then adopted a constitution and declared themselves to be a sovereign nation, the Confederate States of America. The upper South and border states (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas) listened to, but initially rejected, the secessionist appeal. President Buchanan and President-elect Lincoln refused to recognize the Confederacy, declaring secession illegal. The Confederacy selected Jefferson Davis as its provisional President on February 9, 1861.
There were attempts at compromise. The Crittenden Compromise would have extended the Missouri Compromise line of 1820, dividing the territories into slave and free, contrary to the Republican Party's free-soil platform. Lincoln rejected the idea, saying, "I will suffer death before I consent ... to any concession or compromise which looks like buying the privilege to take possession of this government to which we have a constitutional right."
En route to his inauguration by train, Lincoln addressed crowds and legislatures across the North. The president-elect then evaded possible assassins in Baltimore, who were uncovered by Lincoln's head of security, Allan Pinkerton. On February 23, 1861, he arrived in disguise in Washington, D.C., which was placed under substantial military guard. Lincoln directed his inaugural address to the South, proclaiming once again that he had no intention, or inclination, to abolish slavery in the Southern states: "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so." - First inaugural address, 4 March 1861
The President ended his address with an appeal to the people of the South: "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies ... The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S 1st Inaugural Address - FULL AudioBook | GreatestAudioBooks.com - On November 6, 1860, Lincoln was elected the 16th president of the United States, beating Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, John C. Breckinridge of the Southern Democrats, and John Bell of the new Constitutional Union Party. He was the first president from the Republican Party. His victory was entirely due to the strength of his support in the North and West; no ballots were cast for him in 10 of the 15 Southern slave states, and he won only two of 996 counties in all the Southern states.
Lincoln received 1,866,452 votes, Douglas 1,376,957 votes, Breckinridge 849,781 votes, and Bell 588,789 votes. In Buckley v Valeo (1976) the Supreme Court addressed the question of whether Congress can limit the amount of money which people contribute directly to a candidate for political office or indirectly by campaigning independently. The Court limited candidate contributions, noting that the Act's "primary purpose [is] to limit the actuality and appearance of corruption resulting from large individual financial contributions." According to the Court, "Of almost equal concern as the danger of actual quid pro quo arrangements is the impact of the appearance of corruption stemming from public awareness of the opportunities for abuse inherent in a regime of large individual financial contributions." The avoidance of the appearance of improper influence "is critical if confidence in the system of representative Government is not to be eroded to a disastrous extent."
And yet the Court ruled against setting spending limits on independent expenditures: "We find that the governmental interest in preventing corruption and the appearance of corruption is inadequate to justify [the Act's] ceiling on independent expenditures." Opponents of campaign limits argue that limiting campaign spending abridges the freedom of speech. If a certain kind of relationship can be called corruption then Congress can regulate it, the 1st amendment notwithstanding. Corruption can be thought of as a certain kind of improper influence. Corruption distorts the political process as well as the way people think about political issues.
In Citizens United v Federal Election Commission (2010) the Supreme Court reversed Austin v. Michigan Chamber of Commerce (1990), which prohibited corporations from making independent expenditures to support or oppose candidates in elections. The Court in Citizens United v FEC writes: "When Buckley identified a sufficiently important governmental interest in preventing corruption or the appearance of corruption, that interest was limited to quid pro quo corruption." "The hallmark of corruption is the financial quid pro quo: dollars for political favors." "The fact that speakers may have influence or access to elected officials does not mean that these officials are corrupt: Favoritism and influence are not... avoidable in representative politics. It is in the nature of an elected representative to favor certain policies, and, by necessary corollary, to favor the voters and contributors who support those policies."
Is quid pro quo the only kind of corruption there is? Originalism interprets the words of the Constitution by understanding how the Framers would have understood them. How would the Framers have understood corruption? The Framers thought of society as a kind of body. According to Gordon Wood: "The history of particular nations and peoples... was not a linear progression, but a variable organic cycle of birth, maturity, and death, in which states, like the human body, carried within themselves the seeds of their own dissolution." The Framers wanted to build institutions to slow the inevitable corruption that besets all societies.
According to Zephyr Teachout, "The Framers were obsessed with corruption... The framers of the Constitution saw the document as a structure to fight corruption." Gordon Wood: "It was the corruption and the mutability of the Legislative Councils of the States... that actually led to the overhauling of the federal government in 1787." Anti-corruption provisions in the Constitution: elections should be held frequently, representatives should be residents, there should be a large number of representatives, representatives can't set own salary while serving, expenditures should be made public, representatives should not receive gifts from foreigners.
Zephyr Teachout: "Corruption was defined in terms of an attitude toward public service, not in relation to a set of criminal laws. The second feature is that citizenship was understood to be a public office. The delegates believed that non-elected citizens wielding or attempting to influence public power can be corrupt and that elite corruption is a serious threat to a polity." More often than not, the Framers used the word corruption to mean "improper dependence" and not "quid pro quo".

At the Brink
by James Horak
JCH

He is also the author of the first-ever tafseer of the Qur'an - titled : The Ascendant Qur'an- written directly in the English Language. The Qur'an gained popularity with a wide variety of Muslims, justice seeking groups and sinister rulers. However, this has led to translations and interpretations that fit the different agendas of these wayward rulers and often has meant drifting far from the original meaning of the words. Imam Asi attempts to reverse this trend and in my analysis of his struggle, he has deliberately set out to evacuate these covert assailants on Islam's mission who distort or completely alter the message that the Qur'an actually transmit.

Politicians have the ability to influence governmental spending, its actions and its failure to act. There are many clear legal ways to interact and influence politicians including:
Writing a letter, or sending an e-mail;
Lobbying for legislation and changes;
Making a campaign contribution;
Volunteering to help a candidate get elected;
Donating to a candidate's party.
Within certain limitation, in many countries these types of interaction between the people of the country and the government is encouraged. However, when citizens exceed the law of the land many countries react swiftly. This helps these countries ensure their governments are for the people.
In the words of former US Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens:
"In a functioning democracy the public must have faith that its representatives owe their positions to the people, not to the corporations with the deepest pockets."
Money trail is associated with the phrase "Just follow the money trail". This essentially means if you want to look for the motivation behind an action, look to see who stood to profit. A political scandal involving the President of the United States in the 1972 helped make the phrase famous when two reporters following a trail of clues uncovered the Watergate scandal.
A money loop involves the flow of money in both directions. One party tends to want something from the government, and an official wants something in return. This is also called a kickback. Money loops are different than other forms of political corruption. Political corruption when an outright demand for money is made, is called pay to play. Either you pay the money or can't get a building permit, license etc.. Political corruption that allows an illegal activity, is called making a bribe or paying protection money.
Money loop can also be traced to political corruption in the United States. A loop hole is a legal technicality that allows a questionable practice to continue. A supposed loop hole in campaign laws in the 1990s and early 2000s allowed an unlimited funding of political campaigns using issue only ads. The money to pay for the advertisement is termed soft money. The sponsors claimed their ads were legal since they didn't mention one of the eight magic words. The combined phrase soft money loop hole was shortened to just money loop.[1] During the 2012 elections another supposed loop hole called the independent expenditure allowed unlimited funding into campaigns a second time.
To help close the money loop down, some countries have implemented strong regulations regarding the use of funds during political campaigns. These laws were intended to help bring to light the names of individuals and groups that made large contributions to campaigns. In turn, the theory has been that the elected official can be watched closely to see if a particular favor is extended in return.[6]
Disclosure, in theory, helps create the footprint leads to more convictions for anyone that tries to use the money loop. However, in practice it may have just shifted how monies are passed. In the United States, owing to the rise of political action committees it seems the Supreme Court has opened the door wide so, money can be indirectly funneled to a candidate in an unlimited amount with little question.

Irked over the stalling of GST Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today once again raked up the role of the upper house saying time has come to debate whether an 'indirectly elected' house can hold reforms passed by the 'directly-elected' Lok Sabha.
Accusing the Congress of delaying reforms with its 'obstructionism' in Parliament, he also took a dig at 'families' controlling political parties saying less number of businesses are now family-controlled with start-up revolution.

The Caribbean Electorial Systems

At the Brink
JCH

ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S 1st Inaugural Address - FULL AudioBook | GreatestAudioBooks.com - On November 6, 1860, Lincoln was elected the 16th president of the United States, beating Democrat Stephen A.
Turnout was 82.2 percent, with Lincoln winning the free Northern states, as well as California and Oregon. Douglas won Missouri, and split New Jersey with Lincoln.
The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." In Buckley v Valeo (1976) the Supreme Court addressed the question of whether Congress can limit the amount of money which people contribute directly to a candidate for political office or indirectly by campaigning independently.

Finally, the Imam, his family, and other Muslims faithful to the course of Islam were forced out, into the streets. This khutbah originates from the sidewalk across the street from the Islamic Center, currently under seige.

Politicians have the ability to influence governmental spending, its actions and its failure to act. There are many clear legal ways to interact and influence politicians including:
Writing a letter, or sending an e-mail;
Lobbying for legislation and changes;
Making a campaign contribution;
Volunteering to help a candidate get elected;
