Clive Selsby Revill (born 18 April 1930) is a New Zealand-born character actor best known for his performances in musical theatre and on the London stage.
Revill was born in Wellington, New Zealand, the son of Eleanor May (née Neel) and Malet Barford Revill. He attended Rongotai College. He originally trained to be an accountant in New Zealand, but decided to change his career path in 1950 when he made his stage debut as Sebastian in Twelfth Night. He then moved to England, where he appeared in The Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Company's celebrated 1956–1958 season of productions in Stratford, which included Hamlet, Love's Labour's Lost, The Merchant of Venice, Julius Caesar and The Tempest. He went on to have such varied stage roles as Ratty in Toad of Toad Hall and Jean-Paul Marat in Marat/Sade.
He made his Broadway debut in 1952, playing Mr. Pickwick in The Pickwick Papers, and subsequently appeared in Irma La Douce, The Incomparable Max and Oliver!, for which his Fagin was nominated for a Tony Award. He is also known for his roles in the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan, on both stage and television. He starred in the first national tour of the musical Drood, replacing George Rose, who was murdered during the run.

My favorite version of "God Save Ireland" performed by Clive Revill in one of my favorite Columbo episodes ("The Conspirators").
It's not weird that they used the same voice actor from The Princess and the Cobbler, but what I do find weird is that in the Miramax version, they actually got Clive Revill to re-record some lines, add sound in certain scenes, and completely different lines when he talks about the Witch. It's odd for me because you can clearly tell when he recorded his lines in 1993 and 1995, really noticeable. It bothers me because no one else returned to re-record their lines for the Miramax version, unless you count the added sounds according to the Wikipedia. And now you get to see the differences that I remember noticing to show you the differences. I used both of their DVD's just to tell which version it is. Enjoy. I don't own anything in this video.

Due to his demanding performing schedule, Ian McDiarmid was not able to make the trip to Indianapolis for Celebration III back in 2005. The actor did, however, tape an exclusive interview for fans attending the show. In this short clip, Ian discusses playing the Emperor in Return of the Jedi and how he developed Palpatine's signature evil voice. Be sure to catch Ian's first stateside Celebration appearance at Star Wars Celebration VI, August 23-26, 2012.

Bob Hope, in his first made-for-TV movie as well as his first starring film in over a dozen years, teamed with veteran actor Don Ameche, playing a down-on-his-luck gumshoe and a wealthy retired master thief, respectively, to solve a string of art thefts and murders involving a stellar (by TV standards) guest cast. Among the earlier titles for this one were "A Nice, Pleasant, Deadly Weekend in Palm Springs" and then simply "A Nice, Pleasant, Deadly Weekend" (probably because the production was moved lock, stock, and suspects to Vancouver). A handsome young American sits at a Monte Carlo gaming table. The crowd around him watches in awe as each deal of the cards grows his chip piles. How can this cool gambler play so brilliantly? Easy. He cheats. Warren Beatty and Susannah York star in this delightful caper which speeds from the Riviera to Geneva to swinging London at the turn of a card...or unraveling of a clue. Twist Kaleidoscope one way and it's a taut suspense tale with Scotland Yard inspectors, a ruthless drug kingpin and a breathless break-in at a playing card factory. Twisted another way it's a sparkling love story between the suave cardsharp (Beatty) and a kooky dress designer (York) whose father (Clive Revill) is a detective. In Time's words, it's "just about the trickiest piece of flimflam since the jewel job in Top...
I have 4 different versions that I am comparing. The first is from the original version from 1980. fun fact: Ian McDiarmid did not play the emperor in ESB. The role was actually played by an old lady, with a monkey's face superimposed over it. The second is the first remake. the 3rd is the emperor revisited. The only difference between the 2nd and 3rd is the emperors clothing is showed covering his face more in version 3. the 4th is a version that I have that I don't know what which it really is. maybe 2004 dvd release. The dialog is not found anywhere on youtube.
