Nanay River
The Nanay River is a river in northern Peru. It is a tributary of the Amazon River, merging into this river at the city of Iquitos. The lower part of the Nanay flows to the north and west of the city, while the Itaya River flows to the south and east. Other nearby settlements on the Nanay River include the villages of Santo Tomás, Padre Cocha, and Santa Clara. During periods when the river is low, the many beaches along the Nanay are popular destinations. The Nanay belongs entirely to the lowlands, and is very crooked, has a slow current and divides into many canos and strings of lagoons which flood the flat, low areas of country on either side. It is simply the drainage ditch of districts which are extensively overflowed in the rainy season. Captain Butt ascended it 195 mi (314 km), to near its source. A part of the Nanay River flows through the Allpahuayo-Mishana National Reserve.
The Nanay is blackwater river and it has a high fish species richness, including several that are well-known from the aquarium industry. Some of these, notably discus, are the result of accidental introductions that happened in the 1970s.

Little Nanay
Little Nanay is a Philippine family drama series broadcast by GMA Network starring Nora Aunor, Kris Bernal, Hiro Peralta, Chlaui Malayao, and Eddie Garcia along with Mark Herras, Juancho Trivino, Bembol Roco, Sunshine Dizon, Paolo Contis, Gladys Reyes and Keempee De Leon. It premiered on November 16, 2015 replacing My Faithful Husband on Beautiful Strangers' timeslot on the network's GMA Telebabad block, and also airing worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV. After Marimar ended it was move to Marimar's timeslot.
This light family drama serves as Aunor's first GMA regular teleserye and her reunion project with Bembol Roco after their 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Thy Womb.
Plot
The story revolves between the families of Vallejo, San Pedro and Batongbuhay. Don Miguel Vallejo's eldest daughter becomes estranged after living with Rey Batongbuhay to whom she conceived a daughter named Tinay. Lorna left Tinay to her in-laws Annie and Berto Batongbuhay together with stepsons Peter and Bruce not knowing that an accident will leave them orphaned. Soon the Batongbuhays discovered Tinay's special condition and had her treated with no positive results.

GMA Network
GMA Network (Global Media Arts or simply GMA) is a major commercial television and radio network in the Philippines. GMA Network is owned by GMA Network Inc. a publicly listed company. Its first broadcast on television was on October 29, 1961, GMA Network (formerly known as DZBB TV Channel 7, RBS TV Channel 7, GMA Radio-Television Arts then GMA Rainbow Satellite Network) is commonly signified to as the "Kapuso Network" in reference to the outline of the company’s logo. It has also been called the “Christian Network” which refers to the apparent programming during the tenure of the new management, which took over in 1974. It is headquartered in the GMA Network Center in Quezon City and its transmitter is located at Tandang Sora Avenue, Barangay Culiat also in Quezon City.
The original meaning of the GMA acronym was Greater Manila Area, referring to the initial coverage area of the station. As the network expanded it changed into Global Media Arts. At present the corporate name is simply GMA Network Inc.

Frozen Planet
Frozen Planet is a 2011 British nature documentary series, co-produced by the BBC and The Open University. It was filmed by the BBC Natural History Unit. The production team, which includes executive producer Alastair Fothergill and series producer Vanessa Berlowitz, were previously responsible for the award-winning series The Blue Planet (2001) and Planet Earth (2006), and Frozen Planet is billed as a sequel of sorts. David Attenborough returns as narrator. It is distributed under licence by the BBC in other countries, Discovery Channel for North America, ZDF for Germany, Antena 3 for Spain and Skai TV for Greece.
The seven-part series focuses on life and the environment in both the Arctic and Antarctic. The production team were keen to film a comprehensive record of the natural history of the polar regions because climate change is affecting landforms such as glaciers, ice shelves, and the extent of sea ice. The film was met with critical acclaim and holds a Metacritic score of 90/100. Despite such, it has been criticized for limited coverage of the effects of global warming and attribution of recent climate change.

Nora Aunor
Nora Aunor (born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor; May 21, 1953) is a Filipino actress, recording artist, and film producer. Aunor has also appeared in several stage plays, television shows, and concerts. She is known as Philippine cinema's Superstar and is regarded as the People's National Artist. "The Hollywood reporter" magazine, called her "The Grand Dame of Philippine Cinema" for her brilliant performance in the movie Taklub.
Aunor started her career in the Philippine entertainment industry as a singer after she won an amateur singing contest. She made her film debut with All Over the World (1967) and also guested in youth-oriented films produced by Vera-Perez Pictures and United Brothers Production. Aunor transformed herself into a serious actress and came to be regarded as an acting heavyweight, performing in films such as Tatlong taong walang Diyos (1976), Himala (1982), Bona (1980), The Flor Contemplacion Story (1995) and Thy Womb (2012) which gave her international and local awards and nominations.

The grand residence was built at the peak of Perus rubber boom at the end of the 19th Century...when the remote jungle city was awash with money.
Its said that it was the first prefabricated house in Latin America. Its also called the Eiffel House as it was designed by famous French architect Gustave Eiffel..
Since 1985 its been home to the Social Club of Iquitos, which helped fund its restoration.
The second floor is now one of the finest restaurants in Iquitos, The Cafeteria of the Amazon, with delicious cuisine, the best coffee in the city, and views of the main square.

The Amazon River of South America is the world's largest river and the lifeblood of the world's largest ecosystem, spanning two-fifths of an entire continent. It is home to a huge variety of animals and plants that dwell in its lush, evergreen environment. It is the mightiest river in the world by volume, with six times greater total river flow than the next six largest rivers combined, and the most extensive drainage basin in the world. Because of its vast dimensions it is sometimes called The River Sea. Running about 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers), most sources regard the Amazon as the second longest river in length, compared to Africa's Nile River, though this is a matter of some dispute.
Originally explored in the sixteenth century by Europeans who used the Amazon to traverse the formidable environment, the vast waterway fed by numerous tributaries eventually gave rise to commerce in later years. Utilizing boats and steamers, Europeans, slaves, and indigenous peoples increasingly carried out of the rain forest a rich array of highly sought-after products.
In recent years, a highway has made further inroads into the region, while Brazil has sought to keep the Amazon basin free from foreign exploitation. However today, the Amazon is ecologically endangered from reckless deforestation and a lack of public understanding of the importance of this remote region.
The vast Amazon

The area covered by the Amazon River and its tributaries more than triples between the dry season and wet season over the course of a year. In an average dry season, 110,000 square kilometers of land are water-covered, while in the wet season the flooded area of the Amazon basin rises to 350,000 square kilometers. At its widest point the Amazon River can be 6.8 miles (11 kilometers) wide during the dry season, but during the rainy season when the Amazon River floods the surrounding plains it can be up to 24.8 miles (40 kilometers) wide.
The quantity of freshwater released by the Amazon into the Atlantic Ocean is enormous: up to 300,000 square meters per second in the rainy season. The Amazon is responsible for one-fifth of the total volume of freshwater entering the oceans worldwide. Offshore of the mouth of the Amazon, potable water can be drawn from the ocean while still out of sight of the coastline, and the salinity of the ocean is notably lower a hundred miles out to sea.
The Amazon estuary is over 202 miles (325 kilometers) wide. The main river (which is between approximately one and six miles wide) is navigable for large ocean steamers to Manaus, Brazil, more than 900 miles (1,500 kilometers) upriver from the mouth. Smaller ocean vessels of 3,000 tons can reach as far as Iquitos, Peru, 2,250 miles (3,600 kilometers) from the sea. Smaller riverboats can reach 486 miles (780 kilometers) higher as far as Achual Point. Beyond that, small boats frequently ascend to the Pongo de Manseriche, just above Achual Point.
The Amazon drains an area of some 2,722,000 square miles, or nearly 40 percent of South America. It gathers its waters from 5 degrees north latitude to 20 degrees south latitude. Its most remote sources are found on the inter-Andean plateau, just a short distance from the Pacific Ocean; and, after coursing through the interior of Peru and across Brazil, it enters the Atlantic Ocean at the equator. The Amazon has changed its drainage several times, from westward in the early Cenozoic period to its present eastward locomotion following the uplift of the Andes Mountains.

Originating in the snow-crested Andes Mountains high above Lake Lauricocha in central Peru, the headstream of the Marañón River rises in the glaciers in what is known as the Nevado de Yarupa. Rushing through waterfalls and gorges in an area of the high jungle called the Pongos, the Marañón River flows about 1,000 miles from west-central to northeast Peru before it combines with the Ucayali River, just below the provincial town of Nauta, to form the mighty Amazon River. IQUITOS is the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest and the fifth-largest city of Peru. It is also the capital city of the Loreto Region and Maynas Province. Located in the Amazon Basin, the city is along the Amazon, Nanay and Itaya rivers. Its name in Iquito language translates to the people. The city proper with its four districts has a population of 422,055; 462,783 live within the Iquitos Metropolitan Area, making it in the sixth-largest metropolitan area of the country. The official city nickname is Capital of the Peruvian Amazon.
During the early 20th-century rubber boom, it attracted many European immigrants; they contributed to a period of wealth and great social and commercial development that resulted in its unique urban and cultural identity. The city originally was developed from an Indian Reduction developed by Jesuit missionaries along the Nanay river circa 1757 with the name San Pablo de Napeanos. The town was inhabited by the Napeanos and Iquito people. At the present time, the city has become a destination in the Peruvian Amazon, due to historic architecture, cuisine, landscapes, accent, nightlife and diverse cultural movement. It is a cosmopolitan city with strong Amazonia roots.
The city can be reached only by airplane or boat, with the exception of a road to Nauta, a small town roughly 100 km (62 mi) south. It is the largest city in the world that is inaccessible by road. Ocean vessels of 3,000 to 9,000 tons.

Iquitos is in the heart of Peru's northern jungle, and the gateway to exploring the Amazon.
Its the capital of Loreto, a region that makes up a third of Peru's territory.
The city lies on the banks of a secondary branch of the Amazon, just a short distance from where it meets the Napo and Nanay Rivers.
In the floating barrio of Belén canals replace streets, and homes are built on stilts or rafts that rise and fall with the river. Iquitos is the starting point for journeys to a range of forest lodges and jungle retreats.
In this flooded landscape, people depend more on boats than on cars. It is said that Iquitos is the largest city in the world that cannot be reached by road. A zoo on the outskirts of town offers the chance to see the birds, animals and monkeys native to the region up close.
Along the riverfront old colonial mansions built during the rubber boom mix with modern restaurants along a causeway covered in mosaic tiles.
The most famous building is the Iron House, designed and constructed by Gustave Eiffel.
Brought in pieces from Europe, it was the first pre-fabricated building in Latin America.
Its been restored and is now a restaurant with views of the citys main square.

The Amazon River in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest
The Amazon River dominates South Americafrom its source in the Peruvian Andes to its mouth on the east coast of Brazil. The first European to find it was Francisco de Orellana in 1542.
The Amazon is the longest and broadest river in the world, and covers the largest land area.
Its 6756 kilometers or 4,197 miles long, more than 40 kilometers longer than the Nile.
For most of its length the river is sinuous, creating a web of channels and thousands of islands.
On average the Amazon is 50 meters deep and between 4 and 6 kilometers wide.
River boat tours leave from Iquitos to the eastern edge of the Amazon in Brazil, a journey that takes weeks, but shorter trips can take visitors to jungle lodges for a glimpse of the rivers abundant wildlife..

The Amazon River in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest
The Amazon River dominates South Americafrom its source in the Peruvian Andes to its mouth on the east coast of Brazil. The first European to find it was Francisco de Orellana in 1542.
The Amazon is the longest and broadest river in the world, and covers the largest land area.
Its 6756 kilometers or 4,197 miles long, more than 40 kilometers longer than the Nile.
For most of its length the river is sinuous, creating a web of channels and thousands of islands.
On average the Amazon is 50 meters deep and between 4 and 6 kilometers wide.
River boat tours leave from Iquitos to the eastern edge of the Amazon in Brazil, a journey that takes weeks, but shorter trips can take visitors to jungle lodges for a glimpse of the rivers abundant wildlife..
