Heroes (Shinedown song)

"Heroes" is the third single from Shinedown's second album, Us and Them. It reached number 4 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart and number 28 on the U.S. Modern Rock chart. As with the preceding single, "I Dare You", no music video was made for promotion.

There is a line in the second verse that goes "You can put a man on trial, but you can't make the guilty pay". This line first came from the title song of the 2009 deluxe re-release of Leave a Whisper. Despite it being released later than "Heroes", it was written before "Heroes" was.

Heroes (Stargate SG-1)

"Heroes" (Parts 1 and 2) are episodes from Season 7 of the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1. This two-parter was nominated for a Hugo Award in the category Best Dramatic Presentation - Short Form. For Part 2, which aired as the 150th episode of the series, Andy Mikita was nominated for a Leo Award in the category "Dramatic Series: Best Direction", and Don S. Davis was nominated for a Leo Award in the category "Dramatic Series: Best Supporting Performance - Male" for this episode.

Plot

Part 1

The President of the United States, nearing the end of his time in office, has grown concerned over how the public will react if the Stargate Program becomes public knowledge after he leaves office. Hoping that he will be able to put a positive spin on his association with the program, he has commissioned a reporter to create a documentary on the people within the SGC and their activities. However, few key SGC members demonstrate willingness to participate in the documentary and the reporter seems to irritate the members of SG-1, and occasionally rant about censorship. (While he has been given complete access to all past mission reports, current activities of the SGC are off-limits since the Pentagon has yet to review and certify them safe for public viewing.) While Sam Carter and Daniel Jackson do participate in the interviews (unlike Teal'c, who simply stares silently at the camera, and Jack O'Neill, who goes to great pains to avoid the reporter completely), it is only Janet Fraiser who seems willing to tolerate the reporter's presence (and later jokes with him about his rather clumsy attempts to flirt with her).

Heroes (Paul Overstreet album)

Heroes is the third album released by American country music artist Paul Overstreet. The album was released by RCA Nashville in 1991 (see 1991 in country music). The album reached #17 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and charted at #21 on the Top Christian Albums chart. This album produced three top ten singles including Overstreet's first and only number 1 song, "Daddy's Come Around". Other singles and their peaks on the chart were "Heroes" (#4), "Ball and Chain" (#5), "If I Could Bottle This Up" (#30), and "Billy Can't Read" (#57).

Content

Paul Overstreet wrote or co-wrote every track on the album, most of them with Don Schlitz. Fellow country artists Pam Tillis and Trisha Yearwood sing background vocals as well as Christian Music singer Chris Rodriguez. On the LP release of the album, the songs "I'm So Glad I was Dreaming" and "Straight and Narrow" were not included, leaving the album with nine tracks.

FEAT (album)

FEAT (pronounced "F-E-A-T") is the first studio album by Chicago-based record production duo The Hood Internet. It was released on Decon on October 2, 2012. The album features guest appearances from A.C. Newman, Cadence Weapon, and Class Actress, among others. Music videos were created for "Won't Fuck Us Over", "One for the Record Books", and "More Fun".

The remix album, FEAT Remixes, was released on December 18, 2012.

At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 54% based on 6 reviews, indicating "mixed or average reviews".

Vagrancy (biology)

Vagrancy is a phenomenon in biology whereby individual animals appear well outside their normal range; individual animals which exhibit vagrancy are known as vagrants. The term accidental is sometimes also used. There are a number of factors which might cause an individual to become a vagrant — genetic factors and weather conditions are two — but the causes are overall poorly understood. Vagrancy can be a precursor to colonisation if individuals survive.

Vagrancy is known to occur in birds, insects, mammals and turtles.

In birds

In the Northern Hemisphere, adult birds (possibly inexperienced younger adults) of many species are known to continue past their normal breeding range during their spring migration and end up in areas further north (such birds are termed spring overshoots.)

In autumn, some young birds, instead of heading to their usual wintering grounds, take "incorrect" courses and migrate through areas which are not on their normal migration path. For example Siberian passerines which normally winter in Southeast Asia are commonly found in Northwest Europe, e.g. Arctic warblers in Britain. This is reverse migration, where the birds migrate in the opposite direction to that expected (say, flying north-west instead of south-east). The causes of this are unknown, but genetic mutation or other anomalies relating to the bird's magnetic sensibilities is suspected.

The Pillows (ザ・ピロウズ, stylized as the pillows) are a Japanese alternative rock band formed in 1989. As of 2014, the group has released 19 original studio albums, several EPs and compilations, and over 30 singles. Outside Japan, they are best known as the group responsible for the soundtrack to the FLCL OVA series.

History

Formation and early years (1989-94)

In 1989 Kenji Ueda, bassist for Kenzi & The Trips, left the band with former Kenzi's drummer Shinichiro Sato and invited The Coin Locker Babies vocalist Sawao Yamanaka to form a new band. Since Yamanaka was not able to play the guitar well yet, Yoshiaki Manabe, the guitarist of the hair metal band Persia, joined them. The Pillows were formed on September 16, 1989. The story as to where the band's name came about is that allegedly Sawao Yamanaka was hanging out at Yoshiaki Manabe's place and an English post-punk compilation record entitled Pillows & Prayers hanging on Manabe's wall inspired him.

Ueda and Yamanaka were the main songwriters and The Pillows released their first EPs, Pantomime and 90's My Life in 1990 under Captain Records.
