Albert Riera Ortega (born 15 April 1982) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Galatasaray SK in Turkey, as a left winger.
He made a name for himself at Espanyol (where he won one Copa del Rey and reached one UEFA Cup final, also making his debuts for the Spanish national team), and also played professionally in France, England and Greece.
Riera gained 16 caps for Spain, representing the nation at the 2009 Confederations Cup.
Born in Manacor, Balearic Islands, Riera started his professional career with hometown RCD Mallorca, but could only amass 10 La Liga appearances in his first two seasons combined.
In 2002–03, already an undisputed starter, he helped the Balearic Islands outfit to the Copa del Rey conquest, and scored four goals in the league, from 35 contests.
In the summer of 2003, Riera moved to FC Girondins de Bordeaux, where he was a first team regular for two seasons. He made more than fifty Ligue 1 appearances for the French club, and scored four goals.
Riera returned to Spain in 2005, when he signed for RCD Espanyol. In his first season, he played only eight league matches, prompting a January 2006 loan move to Manchester City, where he was also unable to establish himself in the first team, scoring against Newcastle United in a 3–0 home win, on February 1. He returned to Catalonia prior to 2006–07.
