Hey guys! Sorry Ive been AWOL, its been really hectic since uni has started.
DISCLAIMER:
1. I recorded this video a few weeks before the first term back started, so I feel like a lot of this advice may be redundant to you lot but by any means, if any of this is helpful to someone i'll be happy.
2. I felt like most of the time I was saying gibberish tbh but, I am not an ambassador for my course or anything like that and I don't know everything about it so if there's information missing or I didn't explain it well enough, abeg. just do your own research lol. This is just my experience with the course and how I found it.

Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws. Forensic scientists are tasked with the collection, preservation, and analysis of scientific evidence during the course of an investigation. While some forensic scientists travel to the scene to collect the evidence themselves, others occupy a purely laboratory role, performing analysis on objects brought to them by other individuals. In addition to their laboratory role, forensic scientists testify as expert witnesses in both criminal and civil cases and can work for either the prosecution or the defense. While any field could technically be forensic, certain sections have developed over time to encompass the majority of forensically related cases. Due to the nature of their position, forensic scientists are expected to uphold a high level of integrity and maintain strict ethical guidelines regarding their work.

Criminology (from Latin crīmen, "accusation"; and Greek -λογία, -logia) is the scientific study of the nature, extent, causes, and control of criminal behavior in both the individual and in society. Criminology is an interdisciplinary field in the behavioral sciences, drawing especially upon the research of sociologists (particularly in the sociology of deviance), psychologists and psychiatrists, social anthropologists as well as on writings in law.
Areas of research in criminology include the incidence, forms, causes and consequences of crime, as well as social and governmental regulations and reaction to crime. For studying the distribution and causes of crime, criminology mainly relies upon quantitative methods. The term criminology was coined in 1885 by Italian law professor Raffaele Garofalo as criminologia. Around the same time, but later, French anthropologist Paul Topinard used the analogous French term criminologie.
In the mid-18th century, criminology arose as social philosophers gave thought to crime and concepts of law. Over time, several schools of thought have developed. There are three main schools of thought in early criminological theory spanning the period from the mid-18th century to the mid-twentieth century, which are Classical, Positive, and Chicago. These schools of thought were superseded by several contemporary paradigms of criminology, such as the sub-culture, control, strain, labeling, critical criminology, cultural criminology, postmodern criminology, feminist criminology and others discussed below.

In addition to their laboratory role, forensic scientists testify as expert witnesses in both criminal and civil cases and can work for either the prosecution or the defense. While any field could technically be forensic, certain sections have developed over time to encompass the majority of forensically related cases. Due to the nature of their position, forensic scientists are expected to uphold a high level of integrity and maintain strict ethical guidelines regarding their work.
