The Sacred Valley of the Incas or the Urubamba Valley is a valley in the Andes of Peru, close to the Inca capital of Cusco and the ancient city of Machu Picchu. It is located in the present-day Peruvian region of Cusco. In colonial documents it is referred to as the "Valley of Yucay." According to recent research it encompasses the heartland of the Inca Empire.
The valley is generally understood to include everything between Calca and Lamay, Písac, and Ollantaytambo. The valley was formed by the Urubamba River, also known as Willkanuta River (Aymara, "house of the sun") or Willkamayu (Quechua). The latter, in Quechua, the still spoken lingua franca of the Inca Empire, means the sacred river. It is fed by numerous rivers which descend through adjoining valleys and gorges, and contains numerous archaeological remains and villages. The valley was appreciated by the Incas due to its special geographical and climatic qualities. It was one of the empire's main points for the extraction of natural wealth, and one of the most important areas for maize production in Peru northwards from Pisac. The early Incas may have come from Wimpillay, as their mummies had been discovered there. Large scale maize production started around 1400 as Inca urban agriculture based on varieties bred in Moray, either a governmental crop lab or a seedling nursery of the Incas.

The sixth day of my South American trip. Today was spent on a bus tour around the Sacred Valley in Cusco, Peru. Our first stop is on a road with on overlook of the Sacred. Valley. Followed by a 20 minute stop at a market where I pick up a wood carving. From here we make another photography stop. The first real stop is at Pisac, here we are told about it for about ten minutes and given 20 minutes to explore, and this is very, very insufficient you could spend at least 5 hours here, I rush around to take some pictures and then we have to leave. Next we stop for lunch at the Sonesta Posadas Del Inca in Yucay which used to be a monastery before it became a hotel and restaurant, the food is of a very high standard and I explore a bit after I have eaten. We spend an hour and a half here wh...

OLLANTAYTAMBO, SACRED VALLEY, PERU Ollantaytambo is a town and an Inca archaeological site in southern Peru some 60 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco. It is located at an altitude of 2,792 meters (9,160 feet) above sea level in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco region. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti who conquered the region, built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. Nowadays it is an important tourist attraction on account of its Inca buildings and as one of the most common starting points for the three-day, four-night hike known as the Inca Trail. The Sacred Valley of the Incas or the U...

In Cusco, and the Sacred Valley, magnificent ruins await the adventurous traveler. The most famous of all is Machu Picchu. Cusco is the former capital of the Inca Empire of the Sun. Since the 16th century, Spanish colonial buildings were built atop former Inca Palaces, of which only the foundations remain. Examples in the central Plaza de Armas are the Cusco Cathedral and La Compañia church. Another striking example is Qorikancha, the former golden courtyard of the Temple of the Sun. The Spanish used stones from Sacsayhuaman, an Inca stronghold overlooking the city. In the Urubamba Valley, or Sacred Valley, visitors can see the mysterious Moray Terraces and the pre-Inca Salt Mines of Maras. Ollantaytambo is a living Inca city and its towering ruins form the start of the Inca Trail to Ma...

Visit Urubamba Sacred Valley, Peru - Trip to Urubamba, Peru - Urubamba, Peru tourism & Vacations Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube A busy and unadorned urban center, Urubamba is a transport hub surrounded by bucolic foothills and snowy peaks. The advantages of its lower altitude and relative proximity to Machu Picchu make it popular with both high-end hotels and package tours. While there is little of historical interest, nice countryside and great weather make it a convenient base from which to explore the extraordinary salt flats of Salinas and the terracing of Moray. Since Urubamba is quite spread out, the mode of transport of choice are mototaxis (three-wheeled motorcycle rickshaw taxis). The Plaza de Armas is five blo...

Thrill-seeking travelers can now stay in Skylodge, a trio of transparent pods placed 400 feet (122m) above the ground on a cliff-face in the Peruvian Andes. Located near the city of Cuzco, the three 24 x 8 meter capsules, made from polycarbonate and aluminium, are operated by Peruvian tour company Natura Viva and overlook the spectacular Sacred Valley – a region renowned for its breathtaking scenery, small villages and death-defying roads. The price you’ll have to pay to stay in one of these incredibly unique capsules, is having to climb a 400-foot steel ladder embedded in the almost sheer-cliff face to get to one of these unique hotels. If you don’t fancy that, you can also hike or use a zip-wire. Oh, and the other price you’ll have to pay is approximately $300 USD.
The Sacred River about 5 minutes walk from Munay Medicine. It is called the Sacred River because it follows the track of the milky way that is clearly visible on moon and cloudless nights. This taken on 12 Sept '16 when the river was very low, it has been flowing over the huge rock seen at the end.

Hey guys, sorry it's been a while since my last video. But I've been really busy this past week. I thought you guys would be interested in the map changes coming up in patch 9.14. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to access the new map Ravaged Capital on the test server, but I was able to look at the Sacred Valley map. These two videos covering the changes are deliberately meant to be as thorough and detailed as possible. I understand if analysis of this length isn't your thing. There's lots of other more concise reviews released so far by other youtubers (DezGamez) if that is more of what you prefer. However, I focused on covering as much of the map as possible. Hope you enjoy. Like what you see? Play World of Tanks for free at http://worldoftanks.com/game/ Want to see great tank reviews? C...
Hey guys, sorry it took longer than expected to release the second part of this review. I had some technical problems with the video rendering.
