Pratap K. Pothen, popularly known as Pratap Pothen, is an Indian actor, director, writer, producer who has acted in about 100 films. He has acted in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu as well as Hindi films. His directional ventures were in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Early life and background

Pratap was born in Thiruvananthapuram. His father Kolathinkal Pothen was a well known business man of Thiruvananthapuram. He has two brothers and two sisters. He did his schooling at Lawrence School, Lovedale, in Ooty. He finished Schooling in 1968. His elder brother Hari Pothen was also a film producer was married to then famous actress Jayabharathi for a short while. His father died when he was 18. The youngest of five children, he grew up in a household where art, politics, entertainment and business co-existed, allowing him to experience a large cross-section of life from his ancestral home in Trivandrum in Kerala.

Shankar Ganesh is an Indian music director duo who have worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies for around 40 years.

They started as an assistant to Tamil music composers M. S. Viswanathan and T. K. Ramamoorthy between 1960 to 1964 and later the duo assisted M.S.Viswanathan till 1969.

Kaveri Thanda Kalaiselvi was a Natya Nadagam( Dance Drama) wherein Jayalalitha was main lead and rehearsals used to happen at her house with all artistes and musicians coming to her house and doing practice. Shankaraman, musician duo Shankar and Ganesh used to come to play music. Sandhya used to make food and give all artistes breakfast and lunch.This went on for 28 days before the first show happened in 1965.After Jayalalitha became a huge star she recommended Devar Films to give musician duo Shankar Ganesh their debut film as a music director in the film Maharasi starring Ravinchandran with Jayalalitha.

Their first independent release was Magaraasi in 1967. Aattukara Alamelu was a turning point in their career. Musician duo Shankar Ganesh composed music for 2 film s of Jayalalitha - Maharasi in 1967 produced by Devar Films and Vandhale Maharasi in 1973 directed by K.S.Gopalakrishnan.Their best known composition were in Naan Yen Pirenden and Idhaya Veenai.

Saritha is a South Indian actress. She has acted in more than 140 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu languages. She has also acted in a television serial, Selvi, in 2005.

Career

Saritha was born on 1964 in andhra pradesh and made her acting debut through Maro Charithra, a Telugu film directed by K. Balachander. The movie dealt with cross-cultural romance, where she acted opposite Kamal Haasan as a Telugu-speaking girl. She received more offers in Tamil films mostly directed by Balachander. Some of her films include Thappu Thalangal, Idi Katha Kaadu, Vandichakkaram, Netrikan, Agni Sakshi, Puthukavithai, Kalyana Agathigal and Achamillai Achamillai. Her performance in Vandichakkaram (1980) and Achamillai Achamillai (1984) won her Filmfare Best Tamil Actress awards. She also played guest roles as herself in 47 Natkal and its Telugu remake, directed by Balachander. She had her head tonsure for the cancer-affected role in Sujatha in 1980 and gained several pounds to play the psychotic role in the 2005 film Julie Ganapathi. Neither of these films were successful. She also won a Nandi Special Jury Award for her performance as "Aandaalu" in the movie Arjun in 2004.Saritha has also worked as a voice actor in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films. She has lent her voice to other actresses including Madhavi, Soundarya, Ramya Krishnan, Nagma and Vijayashanti. She won Nandi Award for Best Female Dubbing Artist for her voice to Soundarya in Maa Ayana Bangaram (1997) and Anthapuram (1999).
