Here's a little video I made for my presentation in my Film Arts class. The assignment was to talk about anti-realistic elements within various film genres and I got Horror! My personal favorite! This took me about 7 hours to make roughly including writing the script and doing voice overs. Either way, I got it all done barely in time! I guess this can wet your whistles before my two upcoming bigger projects! Keep it real, folks!

The first course in a two-part series, Music Composition for Film and TV 1 teaches you to write music in the style of Hollywood films and TV programs. The course begins with an overview of important considerations for composing music for visual media, including how to balance music and dialogue, how to influence the audience’s emotional response, and how to create music that elicits a location or time period. The course also addresses issues specific to television, including main title theme songs, commercial bumpers, and working with music libraries. From there, each week focuses on a different genre of music for film and TV—themes such as romance, sadness, chase, horror, magic, and fantasy. The course analyzes each genre in terms of melody, harmony, counterpoint, tempo, rhythm, and orchestration, forming a template for each genre that you can apply to your own writing. The course features music from the biggest composers in Hollywood, including John Williams, Alan Sylvestri, James Newton Howard, James Horner, Alexandre Desplat, Marco Beltrami, Bernard Herrmann, Aaron Zigman, and others. The goal of the course is to give you a thorough understanding of the compositional styles used in Hollywood projects, in addition to arming you with a portfolio of film and TV music that you can use as demos.
The course features scores from the biggest composers in Hollywood scores that are typically not available publicly. The musical examples include composers such as John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Hook, Schindler's List), Aaron Zigman (Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium, Bridge to Terabithia, Flicka), Alan Sylvestri (Forrest Gump, Polar Express), Marco Beltrami (Hellboy, Live Free or Die Hard, iRobot), James Newton Howard (Atlantis), Pinar Toprak (Light of Olympia), James Horner (Braveheart, Troy), Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek), and Alf Clausen (Simpsons) who composed a piece specifically for this course! The goal of the course is to give you a thorough understanding of the compositional styles used in Hollywood projects, in addition to arming you with a 10-piece portfolio of film and TV music that you can use as demos.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:

In film theory, genre (
/ˈʒɒnrə/ or /ˈdʒɒnrə/) refers to the method based on similarities in the narrative elements from which films are constructed. Most theories of film genre are borrowed from literary genre criticism. As with genre in a literary context, there is a great deal of debate over how to define or categorize genres.[citation needed]. Besides the basic distinction in genre between fiction and documentary (from which hybrid forms emerged founding a new genre, docufiction), film genres can be categorized in several ways.
Fictional films are usually categorized according to their setting, theme topic, mood, or format[citation needed] . The setting is the milieu or environment where the story and action takes place. The theme or topic refers to the issues or concepts that the film revolves around. The mood is the emotional tone of the film. Format refers to the way the film was shot (e.g., anamorphic widescreen) or the manner of presentation (e.g.: 35 mm, 16 mm or 8 mm). An additional way of categorizing film genres is by the target audience. Some film theorists argue that neither format nor target audience are film genres.[citation needed]

Ze Frank ( /ˈzeɪ/; born Hosea Jan Frank on March 31, 1972) is an American online performance artist, composer, humorist and public speaker based in Los Angeles, California.
Frank was born to German-American parents and raised in a suburb of Albany, New York. He graduated from Brown University in 1995 where he studied neuroscience. Information given in the show indicates that he was educated at a Montessori school and also has a sister, who is a painter .
Beginning at Brown, Frank played guitar and sang lead vocals for a funk/jam band called Dowdy Smack, along with Blues Traveler bassist Tad Kinchla, until its dissolution in 1998.
Frank married his longtime girlfriend Jody Brandt in 2003. They met at Brown University and dated for five years before getting married. Jody is a licensed psychologist. She also officiated at the wedding ceremony of Frank's band mate Tad Kinchla in 2009. Frank and Brandt moved from Brooklyn Heights, NYC, to Westwood, Los Angeles, CA, at the end of 2008.[citation needed]

The course begins with an overview of important considerations for composing music for visual media, including how to balance music and dialogue, how to influence the audience’s emotional response, and how to create music that elicits a location or time period. The course also addresses issues specific to television, including main title theme songs, commercial bumpers, and working with music libraries. From there, each week focuses on a different genre of music for film and TV—themes such as romance, sadness, chase, horror, magic, and fantasy. The course analyzes each genre in terms of melody, harmony, counterpoint, tempo, rhythm, and orchestration, forming a template for each genre that you can apply to your own writing. The course features music from the biggest composers in Hollywood, including John Williams, Alan Sylvestri, James Newton Howard, James Horner, Alexandre Desplat, Marco Beltrami, Bernard Herrmann, Aaron Zigman, and others. The goal of the course is to give you a thorough understanding of the compositional styles used in Hollywood projects, in addition to arming you with a portfolio of film and TV music that you can use as demos. The course features scores from the biggest composers in Hollywood scores that are typically not available publicly. The musical examples include composers such as John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Hook, Schindler's List), Aaron Zigman (Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium, Bridge to Terabithia, Flicka), Alan Sylvestri (Forrest Gump, Polar Express), Marco Beltrami (Hellboy, Live Free or Die Hard, iRobot), James Newton Howard (Atlantis), Pinar Toprak (Light of Olympia), James Horner (Braveheart, Troy), Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek), and Alf Clausen (Simpsons) who composed a piece specifically for this course! The goal of the course is to give you a thorough understanding of the compositional styles used in Hollywood projects, in addition to arming you with a 10-piece portfolio of film and TV music that you can use as demos. Villains are inevitable.I mean everyone likes a victory of good on evil, So in Tamil movies the villains are more Eccentric and they have their own style to steal the lime light,they grab attention in a sarcastic manner and that too with at most variety. This is a humble attempt to recreate some genre of villains in tamil cinema. Frozen Re-cut Movie Trailer
In Summer@Tower's "Coming Attractions: Designing Trailers class" (for students ages 9-14), one of our first lessons is utilizing iMovie's trailer feature to recut existing trailers and present these films as different genres of film. The above trailer was my example of what can be done. Using clips found in the existing Frozen trailer and the iMovie trailer template "Scary" I was able to create a Frozen horror film trailer recut. -

Here's a little video I made for my presentation in my Film Arts class. The assignment was to talk about anti-realistic elements within various film genres and I got Horror! My personal favorite! This took me about 7 hours to make roughly including writing the script and doing voice overs. Either way, I got it all done barely in time! I guess this can wet your whistles before my two upcoming bigger projects! Keep it real, folks!

It's said " how could be a sadhya become complete, without finishing it with a payasam..."
Same in the case of villains in tamil movies, As far as Tamil movies are concerned. Villains are inevitable.I mean everyone likes a victory of good on evil,
So in Tamil movies the villains are more Eccentric and they have their own style to steal the lime light,they grab attention in a sarcastic manner and that too with at most variety.
This is a humble attempt to recreate some genre of villains in tamil cinema. I learned tamil from the movies (that is my only source) and if any mistakes happened in this video in delivering tamil, plz consider it as a mistake from the side of a student...:)

Der Umgang mit Kunst stiftet zum Sehen an, schärft Wahrnehmung und liefert uns vielfältige Anregungen und Impulse, die wir in unseren Transformations- und Wertsteigerungsprojekten nutzen können. Mit unserer Film Edition haben wir ein neues Format für "Denkanstöße" geschaffen, in dem Künstler verschiedener Genres aus unserer Zusammenarbeit zu Wort kommen. Auf der Video-Plattform geben sie Einblick in das eigene Werk und gehen auch auf einzelne Phänomene - "Regeln" - der Kunst ein, an denen wir unsere Arbeit erklären.
Die nächste Künstlerin, die in unserer Film Edition porträtiert wird, ist Malerin Xenia Hausner. Sie wurde 1951 in Wien geboren und ist eine der bekanntesten österreichischen Künstlerinnen der Gegenwart. Nach einem Studium an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien und der Royal Academy of Dramatic Art London sowie jahrelanger Tätigkeit als Bühnenbildnerin an großen Theatern und Opernhäusern, widmete sich ab 1992 ausschließlich der Malerei. Ihre meist großformatigen Frauenporträts beschreiben Erfahrungen zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen. Auf ihren Leinwänden entspinnen sich Bildgeschichten, die den Betrachter mit ihrer tief emotionalen, beunruhigenden und rätselhaften Wirkung in den Bann ziehen.
In ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen stellt die Bildfindung bzw. Bilderfindung den wichtigsten Prozess dar. Das Medium der Fotografie spielt dabei eine entscheidende Rolle. The next artist in our video series is the painter Xenia Hausner. She was born in Vienna in 1951 and nowadays is one of the most well-known Austrian artists. After her education at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Academy of Dramatic Art London, she worked as a stage designer for several large theaters and operas. Since 1992 she has devoted herself solely to painting. Her mostly large portraits of women characterize interpersonal relationships. Her canvases tell us stories that captivate the observer with their emotional, disconcerting and mysterious impact.
Image conception is the most important process in her work. Photography plays a decisive role within this process. It serves not only as a template for her paintings, but rather as a basis for the enhancement of her motifs. They are alienated, magnified or cut-out.
During the last few years the artist has been travelling throughout China and Asia several times, and even lived there temporarily. The impressions from these journeys resulted in a new series of works in which people from different cultures enter into a dialogue.

In Summer@Tower's "Coming Attractions: Designing Trailers class" (for students ages 9-14), one of our first lessons is utilizing iMovie's trailer feature to recut existing trailers and present these films as different genres of film.
The above trailer was my example of what can be done. Using clips found in the existing Frozen trailer and the iMovie trailer template "Scary" I was able to create a Frozen horror film trailer recut.

This Children's Film Foundation film was essentially a motorised update of Soapbox Derby (d. Darcy Conyers, 1958), one of the 'new style' films that began to replace the standard cops and robbers thriller format used by the CFF in the 1950s. The plot sees plucky, enthusiastic underdogs with a home-made go kart sabotaged by better resourced cheats. Rather than deal in moral ambiguity, the bad guys' come-uppance is clearly demonstrated by their losing the big race. This was a popular template for many years of CFF filmmaking: Michael Barnes would replicate his own Go Kart Go script with Hoverbug (d. Our second episode of "All Access" finds us sitting with composer Heitor Pereira in his studio. We cover his approach to his colorful score to the worldwide sensation Minions, and how he tried to deconstruct his melodies from Despicable Me 1 & 2. Beyond that Heitor shares how he immigrated to the USA via a boat from Brazil all the way to New York City to begin his musical path. Other topics include his love for melodies, working with a temp, trying to break into other genres, and every angle of his unique approach to scoring. Heitor even breaks out a guitar to demo his melodic improvisation. We discuss the importance of hard work and support from the people around us as he tells us that his film music career wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the support of his friends and collaborators. Heitor is one of the most fun and passionate people in the world, and this in-depth and fascinating conversation opens up his world to us. Enjoy!

A mysterious package leads a team of reality show ghost hunters who fake hauntings for ratings to a supposed haunted house in rural Arkham, Kentucky. Led by their megalomaniac leader and producer, Sebastian Crowe, the team proceeds to set up their equipment, while, in the dark recesses of the house, something has begun to stir. As night falls, Crowe and the others must come face to face with the repercussions of their disrespect for the dead and the true spirit of the Curse of Arkham. Some secrets are best left buried.

The wonderfully wonky dance sounds of Perth’s Catlips is the latest Western Australian artist to feature in RTRFM’s twelve-part short film series, The View From Here.
Katie Campbell is the mind behind Catlips, one third of dreamy Perth band Kucka and she joined RTRFM in the lush courtyard of Northbridge venue The Bird for The View from Here’s eleventh episode.
Catlips has fast garnered both local and national acclaim with an unmistakable aesthetic in both her colourful, dense production and homemade visuals. Said to channel everything from Four Tet to Nicolas Jaar through a neon glazed blender, it is no surprise that this intriguing artist has recently been nominated for WAM’s Most Popular New Act of 2015.
Launching her latest EP Casual (released through Perth label Pilerats) in March 2015 with a raucous pool party, Catlips had the opportunity to showcase at Bigsound in September and bring her own flavour of multi-sensory house music to venues across the country.
After her set at Camp Doogs this year, Campbell returned to Perth and released a much awaited single Silver Smoke on October 15. Basslines drip through a haze of European-inspired house sounds, capturing the warm essence of our city, while maintaining her undeniable global appeal.
The View From Here is a twelve-part short film series that launched in November 2014 with support from the Department of Culture and the Arts. The series aims to showcase the wellspring of talent in Western Australia’s music scene, across a variety of genres and locations.

This Children's Film Foundation film was essentially a motorised update of Soapbox Derby (d. Darcy Conyers, 1958), one of the 'new style' films that began to replace the standard cops and robbers thriller format used by the CFF in the 1950s. The plot sees plucky, enthusiastic underdogs with a home-made go kart sabotaged by better resourced cheats. Rather than deal in moral ambiguity, the bad guys' come-uppance is clearly demonstrated by their losing the big race. This was a popular template for many years of CFF filmmaking: Michael Barnes would replicate his own Go Kart Go script with Hoverbug (d. Jan Darnley-Smith, 1967), in which homemade hovercraft substituted for go karts.
This film is a good example of the 'gang' in the CFF films - as well as engendering a sense of camaraderie, the ensemble of mixed ages of kids, boys and girls, allows most members of the CFF audience (aged between 5 and 12) to find a point of identification, even if this probably seems a mite unrealistic. For obvious reasons the eldest members of the gangs carry the film - Dennis Waterman and Frazer Hines were among Britain's most experienced child actors of the 1950s and would soon become adult TV stars.
Go Kart Go also serves as a good example of the way CFF films preferred actions to words, using relatively little dialogue. The well-edited, noisy race setpieces symbolise rather than verbalise simple conflict.
TV comedy fans should note the cameo appearances by Wilfrid Brambell as scrap dealer Old Fred - just a year after the debut of Steptoe and Son (BBC, 1962-74). Brambell appears heralded by a piece of incidental music that pastiches Ron Grainer's famous 'Old Ned' theme.

This Children's Film Foundation film was essentially a motorised update of Soapbox Derby (d. Darcy Conyers, 1958), one of the 'new style' films that began to replace the standard cops and robbers thriller format used by the CFF in the 1950s. The plot sees plucky, enthusiastic underdogs with a home-made go kart sabotaged by better resourced cheats. Rather than deal in moral ambiguity, the bad guys' come-uppance is clearly demonstrated by their losing the big race. This was a popular template for many years of CFF filmmaking: Michael Barnes would replicate his own Go Kart Go script with Hoverbug (d. Jan Darnley-Smith, 1967), in which homemade hovercraft substituted for go karts.
This film is a good example of the 'gang' in the CFF films - as well as engendering a sense of camaraderie, the ensemble of mixed ages of kids, boys and girls, allows most members of the CFF audience (aged between 5 and 12) to find a point of identification, even if this probably seems a mite unrealistic. For obvious reasons the eldest members of the gangs carry the film - Dennis Waterman and Frazer Hines were among Britain's most experienced child actors of the 1950s and would soon become adult TV stars.
Go Kart Go also serves as a good example of the way CFF films preferred actions to words, using relatively little dialogue. The well-edited, noisy race setpieces symbolise rather than verbalise simple conflict.
TV comedy fans should note the cameo appearances by Wilfrid Brambell as scrap dealer Old Fred - just a year after the debut of Steptoe and Son (BBC, 1962-74). Brambell appears heralded by a piece of incidental music that pastiches Ron Grainer's famous 'Old Ned' theme.

Raekwon should be forgiven for his Immobilarity meltdown. Far greater emcees have crumbled under the task of following up near-perfect debuts, and Raekwon's 1995 debut Only Built 4 Cuban Linx remains tough to beat. This time around, Raekwon curiously comes out swinging again without RZA--or any other credible producers to back up his reliable street manifestos. Beat deficiencies notwithstanding, "All Over Again" works as a great signifier of sorts because it lays out the template for future hustler-cum-emcees looking to get over. And certainly, the rhyme chemistry between Raekwon and Wu buddy Ghostface works as well as it always has on "Missing Watch." Sadly, the same can't be said for the bushels of guest rhyme spitters. And why Raekwon would employ the same dated Mafioso motifs he popularized nearly a decade ago is anyone's guess. Likewise, tracks like "Robbery" and "Wyld In Da Club" do nothing to disprove the accepted posse-cut theory, which posits that most homies of A-list rappers would serve better as hype men or security guards, for example, as opposed to collaborators. While Raekwon's original slanguage creations are still amusing, it's hard not to think that he, like most members of the Wu, have overstayed their welcome.

Director Anil Ravipudi impressed moviegoers with Pataas . His racy screenplay and humorous one-liners helped him get noticed and Kalyan Ram had heaved a sigh of relief then. Good that the film was released before Puri Jagan’s Temper , else his cop story would not have been talked about ...
