Georgios Samaras (
Greek: Γεώργιος Σαμαράς, pronounced [ˈʝorɣos samaˈras]; born
21 February 1985) is a Greek footballer who plays for
Scottish Premiership club
Celtic and the Greek national team. He is predominantly a
Left Winger, but can also play as a
Centre Forward.
Samaras started his career at
Crete, before moving on to
Eredivisie side
Heerenveen in
2001. He made his first team debut two years later and after a further three seasons with the club he moved to
English Premier League side
Manchester City for a fee of £6 million in
2006. After
Sven-Göran Eriksson took over as Manchester City manager Samaras fell out of favour with the first team. In
January 2008 he was loaned out to
Scottish Premier League team Celtic. During this time he helped the club win the title for a third season in a row. Celtic signed him at the end of the loan spell and since moving to
Glasgow he has won the 2008--09
Scottish League Cup, 2010--11
Scottish Cup and the 2011--12 Scottish Premier League. Samaras also won the
SPL Player of the Month award in
September 2008.
Edin Džeko (
Bosnian pronunciation: [ˈedin ˈd͡ʒeko], born 17
March 1986) is a Bosnian footballer who plays as a striker for
Premier League club Manchester City and the
Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. He was named Bosnian
Footballer of the Year for 2009 and
2010.[3] In Bosnia and Herzegovina, he is known as
Bosanski dijamant (The Bosnian
Diamond).[
4][5] He has also played for
Željezničar,
FK Teplice,
FK Ústí nad Labem and
VfL Wolfsburg.
Džeko has played 57 times for his country and scored 33 goals since
2007, becoming highest Bosnian goalscorer of all time on
7 September 2012 in a game against
Liechtenstein where he scored a hat-trick, surpassing
Zvjezdan Misimović and
Elvir Bolić for the honors. He scored nine goals during the
2010 World Cup qualifiers, finishing as top scorer of
Group 5. He made a name for himself while playing for
German club
Wolfsburg, with whom he won the
Bundesliga in the 2008--09 season. He was second highest goal scorer with 26 goals
. In the 2009--10 season, Džeko was the top scorer with 22 goals. He also registered ten assists in both seasons.
He scored an important equalizer for Manchester City in the 80th minute of the match during the fourth round match of the 2010--11
FA Cup against
Notts County which ended in a 1--1 draw.[6] His goal forced a replay match which Manchester City won and ultimately an FA Cup itself. Džeko scored the only goal of the game in a 1--0 win against
Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League on
25 April 2011 to ensure the club would directly qualify for their first ever
Champions League tournament. As result of that win, Manchester City finished the season in third place, three points ahead of
Arsenal.

Emir Spahić (born 18 August 1980 in Dubrovnik,
SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian footballer playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen[2][3] and captains the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.[4]

Montpellier[edit]On 24
June 2009, Spahić announced that he will join the newly promoted Montpellier squad for the 2009--10
Ligue 1 season.[5] On his league debut against
Paris Saint-Germain, he scored a header in the 94th minute for a 1--1 draw, which earned a
point for the newly promoted club. He scored his second goal for Montpellier in a 2--2 draw against
FC Lorient.
Sevilla[edit]On 4 July 2011, Spahić agreed a transfer with Sevilla for 2 million euros until July 2014.[6] His national team mate
Miroslav Stevanović has also transferred to Sevilla in
January 2013 and upon his arrival at
San Pablo International Airport, he was received by Emir Spahić.[7] Spahić scored his first goal for Sevilla on 5 January 2013 in a 1--0 victory against
Osasuna.[8]
Anzhi Makhachkala[edit]On
26 February 2013, Spahić left Sevilla and was loaned to Anzhi Makhachkala.[9] He scored his first goal for the club on 14
April 2013 against
Volga Nizhny Novgorod.
