"Scotland the Brave" (Scottish Gaelic: Alba an Aigh) is a patriotic song and one of the main contenders to be considered as a national anthem of Scotland. In June 2006, the song came second to Flower of Scotland in an online poll with more than 10,000 votes to determine the nation's favourite unofficial "anthem". The song is used to represent Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.
Scotland the Brave is also the authorised pipe band march of The British Columbia Dragoons of the Canadian Forces and is played during the Pass in Review at Friday parades at The Citadel. In 2006, it was adopted as the regimental quick march of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Scotland the Brave (in schottischem Gälisch Alba an Aigh) ist neben "Flower of Scotland" und "Scots Wha Hae" eine der drei inoffiziellen Nationalhymnen Schottlands. Sie wird als schottische Nationalhymne bei den Commonwealth Games verwendet.

This is the classic recording of "Amazing Grace" by the combined bands of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. This recording was originally released in 1972 to mark the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Greys and the 3rd Carabiniers, to become the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, Scotland's only cavalry regiment. The album first appeared on the RCA label and it was this recording which gained the bands such world reknowned fame, selling over 6 million copies of the tune when it was released on 45 rpm.

Bagpipes are a class of musical instrument, aerophones, using enclosed reeds fed from a constant reservoir of air in the form of a bag. Though the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe and Irish uilleann pipes have the greatest international visibility, bagpipes have been for centuries played throughout large parts of Europe, the Caucasus, around the Persian Gulf and in Northern Africa. The term "bagpipe" is equally correct in the singular or plural, although in the English language, pipers most commonly talk of "the pipes", "a set of pipes", or "a stand of pipes".
Bagpipe making was once a craft that produced instruments in many distinctive local traditional styles. Today, the world's biggest producer of the instrument is Pakistan, where the industry was worth $6.8 million in 2010.
A set of bagpipes minimally consists of an air supply, a bag, a chanter, and, usually, at least one drone. Most bagpipes have more than one drone (and, sometimes, more than one chanter) in various combinations, held in place in stocks—connectors that fasten the various pipes to the bag.

In June 2006, the song came second to Flower of Scotland in an online poll with more than 10,000 votes to determine the nation's favourite unofficial "anthem". The song is used to represent Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.
Scotland the Brave is also the authorised pipe band march of The British Columbia Dragoons of the Canadian Forces and is played during the Pass in Review at Friday parades at The Citadel. In 2006, it was adopted as the regimental quick march of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Carlos Nunez: Galician Bagpipes & Flutes
A concert by bagpiper and flutist Carlos Nunez. Galicians trace their ancestry not only to Iberians but also to Celtic peoples, and their musical traditions reflect a connection to Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany. This concert features a special emphasis on the music collected by Alan Lomax in Galicia in the 1950s, which are part of the AFC archives, and which have inspired numerous musicians including Miles Davis. Nunez has visited AFC several times to research this important collection. Speaker Biography: Carlos Nunez is a world-famous bagpiper and flutist from Galicia in Spain.
