The Force Awakens Leads 2016 Saturn Award Nominations Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies Nominees for the 2016 Saturn Awards have been announced and we’re breaking them down right now on Clevver’s Trophy Life! The Force will be strong at this year’s Saturn Awards as one of the biggest movies of all-time leads this year’s list of nominees. Nominees for the 42nd Annual Saturn Awards, which celebrate the best in science fiction, fantasy and horror, have been announced and Star Wars: The Force Awakens leads the pack with 15 nominations followed by Best Picture Oscar nominee Mad Max: Fury Road and Crimson Peak with 9 each. In addition to nominations in all the technical categories, The Force Awakens also scored a Best Director nomination for J.J. Abrams and acting noms for most of the film’s cast including Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher and Lupita Nyong’o. The film also scored a nomination for Best Science Fiction Film along with Ex Machina, Jurassic World, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian and Terminator: Genisys. In addition to Best Science Fiction Film, Mad Max: Fury Road landed noms for Charlize Theron and director George Miller while Crimson Peak earned nominations for director Guillermo del Toro and stars Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain as well as Best Horror Film along with Insidious: Chapter 3, It Follows, Krampus, The Visit and What We Do in the Shadows. Jurassic World managed to take 7 nominations including Best Science Fiction Film, Best Performance by a Younger Actor for Ty Simpkins and director Colin Trevorrow. Nominees for Best Comic-to-Motion Picture included Ant-Man, Attack on Titan Part 1, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The Peanuts Movie. Not surprising, the Fantastic Four reboot failed to land a nomination. Best Fantasy Film noms went to The Age of Adaline, Baahubali: The Beginning, Cinderella, Goosebumbps, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 and Ted 2 while Everest, Furious 7, Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, The Revenant, Spectre and Spy earned nominations for Best Action/Adventure Film. And finally, nominations for Best Thriller Film went to Black Mass, Bridge of Spies, The Gift, The Hateful Eight, Mr. Holmes and Sicario. Winners of the 2016 Saturn Awards will be announced in June at a ceremony held in Burbank.
