MTV Türkiye is the Turkish subsidiary of MTV. It is operated in Turkey by Digiturk digital platform

MTV Türkiye's opening party was held on 17 November 2006 in Istanbul, with a Pussycat Dolls performance. It was officially launced on October 23, 2006. The first broadcast of the channel was Nil Karaibrahimgil's music video Peri.

MTV Turkey was removed from Digiturk on May 22, 2010 with no reason given to the customers, which caused a small controversy amongst customers. On June 20, 2010, it was reported that MTV Networks International cancelled Multichannel Developers's (the company that operated MTV Turkiye) licence a month ago. On the same day, MTV Turkiye's website closed with a text saying that their new site will be available as soon as possible. As of October 2010, the channel operates on cable TV (e.g. on D-Smart Ch. 63, see Digital television in Turkey) and free-to-air satellite.

MTV Turkey on March 1, 2012 Digiturk 107. channel opened again.

The channel combines local and international music, and airs such trademark MTV shows like Jackass, Pimp My Ride, I Bet You Will, Dirty Sanchez, Wild Boyz, Viva la Bam, Celebrity Deathmatch, Life of Ryan and I Want A Famous Face with subtitles in Turkish. Twice a week (Sunday, 1 PM GMT+2 and Monday, 9PM GMT+2), the channel also broadcasts classic 'Turk Fantastik' films.

Anneke van Giersbergen (born 8 March 1973) is a Dutch singer and musician. She is the former lead singer of the Dutch progressive/alternative rock band The Gathering which she departed in August 2007. Since then, she has been involved in a solo project called Agua de Annique which also included her husband & drummer of the band, Rob Snijders. She now performs under her own name with her husband & other members. She has also worked with Lawn, Farmer Boys, Ayreon, Napalm Death, Novembers Doom, Moonspell, Globus, Arjen Anthony Lucassen, Giant Squid, Devin Townsend, Anathema and Within Temptation.

Van Giersbergen was born in Sint-Michielsgestel, Netherlands. By the age of 7, she participated in soundmix contests, and, at the age of 12, joined her school choir, and later joined her first rock band.

She has played with several bands before becoming part of the duo Bad Breath, who played a mix of blues, jazz, folk and funk. She joined The Gathering in 1994, and she is most notable for her work with them.
