Winfield Scott "Scotty" Moore III (born December 27, 1931) is an American guitarist and recording engineer. He is best known for his backing of Elvis Presley in the first part of his career, between 1954 and the beginning of Elvis's Hollywood years. He was ranked 29th in Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2011. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
Scotty Moore was born near Gadsden, Tennessee. He learned to play the guitar from family and friends at eight years of age. Although underage when he enlisted, Moore served in the United States Navy between 1948 and 1952.
Moore's early background was in jazz and country music. A fan of guitarist Chet Atkins, Moore led a group called the "Starlite Wranglers" before Sam Phillips at Sun Records put him together with then teenage Elvis Presley. Phillips believed that Moore's lead guitar and Bill Black's double bass were all that was needed to augment Presley's rhythm guitar and lead vocals on their recordings. In 1954 Moore and Black accompanied Elvis on what would become the first legendary Presley hit, the Sun Studios session cut of "That's All Right (Mama)", a recording regarded as a seminal event in rock and roll history. Elvis, Black and Moore then formed the Blue Moon Boys.
Eric Patrick Clapton, CBE (born 30 March 1945), is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once as a solo artist and separately as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream. Clapton has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and fourth in Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time". He was also named number five in Time magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009.
In the mid-1960s, Clapton left the Yardbirds to play blues with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. Immediately after leaving Mayall, Clapton formed the power trio Cream with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce, in which Clapton played sustained blues improvisations and "arty, blues-based psychedelic pop". Furthermore, he formed blues rock band Blind Faith with Baker, Steve Winwood, and Ric Grech. For most of the 1970s, Clapton's output bore the influence of the mellow style of JJ Cale and the reggae of Bob Marley. His version of Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" helped reggae reach a mass market. Two of his most popular recordings were "Layla", recorded with Derek and the Dominos; and Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", recorded with Cream. Following the death of his son Conor in 1991, Clapton's grief was expressed in the song "Tears in Heaven", which featured in his Unplugged album.
Mark Freuder Knopfler, OBE (born 12 August 1949) is a British singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer and film score composer. He is best known as the lead guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for the rock band Dire Straits, which he co-founded with his younger brother, David Knopfler, in 1977.
Since Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, Knopfler has recorded and produced eight solo albums, and, as with his previous band, produced many hit songs. He has composed and produced film scores for eight films, including Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), and Wag the Dog (1997).
In addition to his work with Dire Straits and as a solo artist and composer, Knopfler has recorded and performed with many prominent musicians, including Chet Atkins, Chris Botti, John Anderson, the Chieftains, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Bryan Ferry, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Jools Holland, Sonny Landreth, Phil Lynott, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Sting, and James Taylor, sometimes working as a session musician. He has produced albums for Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, and Randy Newman.

Rockabilly
- Elvis Presley' original guitarist and manager Scotty Moore.
www.bbc.co.uk/markkermode The great guitarist Scotty Moore died last week. Here is my appreciation of a true musical genius.
I was overseas at the time of Scotty Moore's passing, I didn't get to pay one of my biggest guitar influences a proper tribute. It's a little late, but here is every Scotty Moore solo from the Elvis Sun Sessions, and a big thank you to a true giant of American music, whose mix of country blues and Chet Atkins style fingerpicking single-handedly invented rockabilly and truly was the guitar that changed the world. Rest in peace, Scotty!
Shorty after Scotty started performing again in the early '90s a documentary was produced about he, Elvis and Bill in the first year of performing, 1954-55. The company created an info-mercial with the intent of promoting the video by having Scotty and Carl Perkins sit and talk a bit about the content. The video was never released and Scotty and Carl were never paid (again). Scotty though had a copy of the info-mercial and has made the parts with he and Carl available to his fans on his website and myspace page. Scotty said this was better than the actual documentary. When Myspace changed their format the video was lost so we regenerated it for Youtube. Several years ago someone copied it from Myspace and inserted some proprietary Elvis footage. We won't complain but we can't endorse it. ...

Sadly, Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley's first guitarist passed away on Tuesday June 28th, 2016. Considered one of the best ever, he pioneered the now familiar guitar licks we commonly hear in early rock n' roll, rockabilly, and country music. This clip is from The Ed Sullivan Show in 1956 and clearly demonstrates the pure talent Scotty Moore possessed. *Bee-Sides Radio does not own nor claim copyright of this song/recording.

At the 2003 Ponderosa Stomp rehearsal, I asked Scotty Moore if he would mind playing through my Ray Butts Echosonic amp. He obliged me, played a few licks (including a tutorial on the right way to play "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone!") and talked about his own Echosonic amp, Ray Butts, and his powered extension cabinets he used in the 1950's. For anybody that's wondering, the grey amp next to the Fender is my Echosonic amp chassis in a Rickenbacker grey tolex cabinet--this is the cabinet the amp came with before I had a reproduction Echosonic cabinet made (the one seen in the Cairo, Illinois video). So--same original Echosonic amp--different cabinet than the other video. Thanks for your patience, Scotty--you're a true gentleman.

D. J. Fontana played drums behind Elvis in concerts, on TV and in the movies for fourteen years. In this 1999 interview, he reveals some aspects of his Elvis years that have not been told before or since. His descriptions and attitude about Col. Tom Parker and the Memphis "Mafia" are telling in the context of the times. Life for the original musicians, Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D. J. should have been different had they been treated properly or, at the very least, paid for the caliber of work they produced. Sure, Elvis was great, but without that original band would he have made it out of Memphis? We will never know - we just thank God that "Big Bang" of musicians hit it at just the right time.
Scotty Moore, the guitarist who helped Elvis change the world of music, had given few interviews and was rarely performing at the time of this 1993 interview. He and D.J. Fontana (Elvis' original drummer) reunited in Memphis during "Elvis International Tribute Week" and kindly shared an interview in D.J.'s hotel room with Director David Julian Leonard for his documentary "Why Elvis?" Camera by Eric Wilson.

No seas terco padre mio
Como la voy a confundir
Desde niÑo nunca cambias
Digo no y tu dices si
Mi hijo esa mujer me ama
No seas terco padre mio
Como la voy a confundir
Desde niÑo nunca cambias
