Quotes:
Gene Roddenberry: Hello and welcome to Universal Studios' Star Trek Adventure, courtesy of Paramount Pictures. I'm Gene Roddenberry and some of you may know me as the creator of Star Trek. The episode you're about to see is a first. It's the first time guest stars have ever played the roles of the Captain of the Enterprise and the Vulcan science officer. We'll now give you a peek at the rehearsal session that went on between our guest stars and their two directors, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
William Shatner: Emotion is the key. You must let the audience know that you are the Captain of the ship.::Leonard Nimoy: The trick is to remove all traces of emotion from your performance. A Vulcan's actions are dictated by pure logic. And remember...::William Shatner: The Captain is the most important role in the story.::Leonard Nimoy: The Vulcan is the most important role in the story.::Leonard Nimoy: The Captain?::William Shatner: The Vulcan? Come on, Leonard, it's the Captain that makes things happen. It's his story!::Leonard Nimoy: Bill, get serious. The audience watches the Vulcan!
Dr. McCoy: Medical log, stardate 8707.2. Dr. McCoy reporting. The crew of the Enterprise is busy readying itself for an ordeal that I'm sure will prove to be trying: a Starfleet training mission. Below us on Earth, Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock are attending a conference at Federation headquarters, which makes them unable to help supervise the new graduates. But at least I'm not alone in this endeavor. Uhura, Chekov, Sulu and Scotty are aboard too, and you couldn't ask for better instructors than that.
Scott: Welcome aboard the Enterprise! Graduates, you are expected on the bridge!
Dr. McCoy: Now that the new "Captain" and his fellow graduates are on the bridge, I can feel my nervous stomach acting up. I have to keep reminding myself that this is only a training mission.

Plot: After an explosion on their moon, the Klingons have an estimated 50 years before their ozone layer is completely depleted, and they all die. They have only one choice - to make peace with the Federation, which will mean an end to 70 years of conflict. Captain James T. Kirk and crew are called upon to help in the negotiations because of their "experience" with the Klingon race. Peace talks don't quite go to plan, and eventually Kirk and McCoy are tried and convicted of assassination, and sent to Rura Penthe, a snowy hard-labor prison camp. Will they manage to escape? And will there ever be peace with the Klingons?

Quotes:
Chancellor Gorkon: [last words to Kirk before death] Don't let it end this way, captain.
Captain Hikaru Sulu: [after seeing the Enterprise's torpedo hit the Bird-of-Prey] Target that explosion and fire!
General Chang: [over the public address speakers] "I am constant as the northern star."::Commander Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, M.D.: I'd give real money if he'd shut up.
General Chang: I can see you, Kirk.::Captain James T. Kirk: Chang.::General Chang: Can you see me? Oh, now be honest, Captain, warrior to warrior. You do prefer it this way, don't you, as it was meant to be? No peace in our time. "Once more unto the breach, dear friends."
[Dictating his personal log]::Captain James T. Kirk: Captain's log, stardate 9522.6: I've never trusted Klingons, and I never will. I could never forgive them for the death of my boy. It seems to me our mission to escort the Chancellor of the Klingon High Council to a peace summit is problematic at best. Spock says this could be an historic occasion, and I'd like to believe him, but how on earth can history get past people like me?
[on whether to help the Klingons]::Captain James T. Kirk: They're animals.::Captain Spock: Jim, there is an historic opportunity here.::Captain James T. Kirk: Don't believe them. Don't trust them.::Captain Spock: They're dying.::Captain James T. Kirk: Let them die!::[pauses... Spock cocks his head in surprise. Kirk recoils and proceeds]::Captain James T. Kirk: Has it occurred to you that this crew is due to stand down in three months? We've done our bit for king and country! You should have trusted me.
Captain James T. Kirk: Bones, are you afraid of the future?::Commander Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, M.D.: I believe that was the general idea that I was trying to convey.::Captain James T. Kirk: I don't mean this future.::Commander Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, M.D.: What is this, multiple choice?
General Chang: "To be or not to be?" That is the question which preoccupies our people, Captain Kirk. We need breathing room.::Captain James T. Kirk: Earth, Hitler, 1938.::General Chang: I beg your pardon.::Chancellor Gorkon: Well... I see we have a long way to go.
Captain Spock: Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end.
Captain Spock: [to Valeris] What you want is irrelevant, what you have chosen is at hand.

Quotes:
Sybok: Spock. It's me. It's Sybok. After all these years you've finally caught up with me. Don't you have anything to say to me?::Spock: You are... under arrest. For seventeen violations of the Neutral Zone Treaty.
McCoy: What's the matter, Jim?::Kirk: I miss my old chair.
Spock: Captain.::Kirk: Spock, we're on leave you can call me 'Jim'.::Spock: Jim.::Kirk: Yes, Spock?::Spock: Life... is not a dream.::Kirk: Go to sleep, Spock.
Sybok: Sha-Ka-Ree... the source... Heaven... Eden... call it what you will. The Klingons call it "Qui-Tu". For the Romulans it's "Vorta Vor". The Andorian word is... is unpronouncable. Still, every culture in this galaxy shares this common dream of a place from which creation sprang. For us, that place will soon be reality.::Kirk: The only reality I see is that I'm a prisoner on my own ship. What is this power you have to control the minds of my crew?::Sybok: I don't control minds. I free them.
Kirk: What does God need with a starship?::McCoy: Jim, what are you doing?::Kirk: I'm asking a question.::"God": Who is this creature?::Kirk: Who am I? Don't you know? Aren't you God?::Sybok: He has his doubts.::"God": You doubt me?::Kirk: I seek proof.::McCoy: Jim! You don't ask the Almighty for his ID!::"God": Then here is the proof you seek.::[Shoots Kirk with lightning]::Kirk: Why is God angry?::Sybok: Why? Why have you done this to my friend?::"God": He doubts me.::Spock: You have not answered his question. What does God need with a starship?::"God": [shoots Spock with lightning; then addresses McCoy] Do you doubt me?::McCoy: I doubt any God who inflicts pain for his own pleasure.
Kirk: I thought I was going to die.::Spock: Not possible. You were never alone.::[Kirk moves to hug Spock, and Spock stops him]::Spock: Please, Captain, not in front of the Klingons.
McCoy: We were speculating. Is God really out there?::Kirk: Maybe he's not out there, Bones. Maybe he's right here. [points to his heart] Human heart.
Spock: [Kirk clings precariously to El Capitan] I do not believe you realize the gravity of your situation.::Kirk: [Almost slips; a rock drops] Gravity was foremost on my mind.
Kirk: Damn it, Bones, you're a doctor. You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with a wave of a magic wand. They're the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away! I need my pain!
Spock: [after Kirk has fallen off El Capitan] Perhaps "because it is there" is not sufficient reason for climbing a mountain.::Kirk: I am hardly in a position to disagree. [see McCoy running toward him]::Kirk: Hi, Bones! Mind if we drop in for dinner?

Plot: James Kirk who after rescuing Mr. Spock and bringing him to Vulcan where he is fully restored, is now the most hated man in the universe, because he disobeyed his superiors and killed a Klingon crew and took their ship. After three months on Vulcan, Kirk decides to return to Earth to face the consequences of his actions along with his crew who aided him. Also accompanying them is Mr. Spock, who is still trying to understand his human side. What they don't know is that an alien probe approaches Earth and is emitting a signal that nullifies all power systems. And it is now vaporizing the planet's oceans covering the planet in a cloud that covers the earth cutting them off from the sun - the planet's main source of energy. The President of the Federation sends a transmission telling everyone about what is happening and to stay away from earth. Kirk upon hearing it, checks out the probe's transmission and Spock postulates that the alien is not hostile merely unaware that it's transmissions are disruptive. Spock thinks it's trying to communicate with another species other than man. And upon analyzing it Spock learns that the probe is sending the songs of whales, specifically Humpback whales. Only problem is that the species has been extinct for centuries. With little choice, Kirk decides to get some humpback whales from the only place they can from Earth in the past so that they can communicate with the probe. So they travel through time and arrive in the late 20th century. And they discover a pair of humpback whales in San Francisco. So Kirk and Spock set out to find them. While Scotty, McCoy and Sulu try to find the materials they need to make a whale tank. And also the ship's dilithium crystals are failing. So Uhura and Chekov try to find a nuclear reactor so that they can drain some radiation which they hope can restore the ship's power. And they have to contend with the ways of the 20th century.

McCoy: You realize that by giving him the formula you're altering the future.::Scotty: Why? How do we know he didn't invent the thing?
Kirk: You're not exactly catching us at our best.::Spock: That much is certain.
Kirk: This is good-bye?::Dr. Gillian Taylor: Why does it have to be good-bye?::Kirk: Well, like they say in your century, I don't even have your telephone number.
Spock: [in response to Kirk pawning his antique spectacles from Wrath of Khan] Excuse me, Admiral. But weren't those a birthday gift from Dr. McCoy?::Kirk: And they will be again, that's the beauty of it.::[to the Antique Store Owner]::Kirk: How much?::Antique Store Owner: Well, they'd be worth more if the lenses were intact. Chekov: Admiral. We have found the nuclear wessel.::Kirk: Well done, Team two.::Chekov: And Admiral... it is the *Enterprise*.::[Kirk and Spock look at each other]::Kirk: Understood.
Kirk: [Explaining Spock's odd behavior] Oh, him? He's harmless. Back in the sixties, he was part of the free speech movement at Berkeley. I think he did a little too much LDS.::Dr. Gillian Taylor: LDS?

But upon arriving, he is told that the Enterprise will not be repaired and that Genesis has become a delicate matter and until it is resolved, no one is allowed to go there or talk about it. McCoy is also acting strangely and is later detained when he starts talking about Genesis. Kirk is visited by Spock's father Sarek, who tells him that he betrayed Spock because being placed on Genesis was not what he would have wanted. He tells Kirk he is supposed to bring Spock's body along with his soul or katra as the Vulcans call it which he passes onto someone, and bring it to Vulcan for the final rites. Sarek assumes Kirk would have it but he does not. Kirk then thinks that Spock may have passed it someone else and realizes McCoy is the one who has which is why he is acting weird. Sarek tells Kirk he must bring both Spock's body and McCoy who has his soul to Vulcan so that they could be at peace. Kirk asks permission but his request is refused. Kirk then along with the others decides to take the Enterprise and proceed to Genesis to get Spock's body. Kirk: How much refit time before we can take her out again?::Scotty: Eight weeks, sir. But ye don't have eight weeks, so I'll do it for ye in two.::Kirk: Mr. Scott. Have you always multiplied your repair estimates by a factor of four?::Scotty: Certainly, sir. How else can I keep my reputation as a miracle worker?::Kirk: [over the intercom] Your reputation is secure, Scotty.
Kirk: How are we doing?::McCoy: How are "we" doing? Funny you should put it quite that way, Jim. "We" are doing fine. But I'd feel safer giving him one of my kidneys than what's scrambled in my brain.
Sulu: The word, sir?::Kirk: The word is no. I am therefore going anyway.::Sulu: You can count our help, sir.::Kirk: Thank you, Mr. Sulu, I'll need it.::Chekov: Shall I alert Dr. McCoy?::Kirk: Please. He has a long journey ahead of him.

Gentlemen, your work today has been outstanding and I intend to recommend you all for promotion... in whatever fleet we end up serving.
Kirk: You're suffering from a Vulcan mind-meld, doctor.::McCoy: That green-blooded son of a bitch! It's his revenge for all the arguments he lost.
Kirk: Klingon Commander, this is Admiral James T. Kirk. I'm alive and well on the planet's surface. I know that this will come as a pleasant surprise to you, but our ship was a victim of an "unfortunate accident". Sorry about your crew, but as we say on Earth, c'est la vie.
Kruge: Take every last man, form a boarding party armed heavily.::Torg: They outnumber us, my lord.::Kruge: [shouts] We are Klingons! Once you control the ship, we'll transfer our flag there and take Genesis from their own memory banks.
Kirk: [gathers himself after David's murder] Mr. Sulu, what is the crew compliment of a Bird-of-Prey?::Sulu: About a dozen officers and men.::Kirk: With some of them on the planet... I swear to you, we're not finished yet. Bones, you and Sulu to the transporter room. The rest of you with me, we have a job to do.
