The Zambezi (also spelled Zambeze and Zambesi) is the fourth-longest river in Africa, the longest east flowing river in Africa and the largest flowing into the Indian Ocean from Africa. The area of its basin is 1,390,000 square kilometres (540,000 sq mi), slightly less than half that of the Nile. The 2,574-kilometre-long river (1,599 mi) rises in Zambia and flows through eastern Angola, along the eastern border of Namibia and the northern border of Botswana, then along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe to Mozambique, where it crosses the country to empty into the Indian Ocean.
The Zambezi's most noted feature is Victoria Falls. Other notable falls include the Chavuma Falls at the border between Zambia and Angola, and Ngonye Falls, near Sioma in Western Zambia.
There are two main sources of hydroelectric power on the river, the Kariba Dam, which provides power to Zambia and Zimbabwe, and the Cahora Bassa Dam in Mozambique, which provides power to Mozambique and South Africa. There is also a smaller power station at Victoria Falls.

Self Drive Do it Yourself Zimbabwe: http://www.selfdrive4x4.co.za/ The lake formed by the dam wall - 281 km long, 32 km across at its widest point, and covering 5000 square km - is now one of Zimbabwe's major tourist attractions. Tourism, however, was far from the minds of those who, in 1950 pointed out that the growing demands for coal by existing thermal power stations in central Africa could not be met after 1960 by the railway system. A source of hydroelectric power would have to be found. The largest river in central Africa, the Zambezi, seemed the obvious source of water and the Kariba Gorge met all the criteria for a dam wall. The Gorge had been discovered by David Livingstone and its position as a bottleneck at en...

An amazing trip down The Mighty Zambezi River in September 2015. Close encounters with many hippos and plenty of elephant. Lets not forget about the enormous crocodiles! A real thrill to experience! A very well organized trip by River Horse Safaris. Tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly! A trip I would highly recommend!
Do you remember the day you said I'll be the only one,
'Cause I remember the way you held my gaze my lovely one.
I still remember stealing all the mangoes from the farm,
Just for fun, just for fun.
You're the one.
Do you remember the day you let me be the only one,
'Cause I remember making love to you under the sun.
By a river underneath the mango tree my love,
You're the one, you're the one.
You're the one.
You're the one.
Do you remember the day the soldiers came with all their guns?
'Cause I remember begging you to leave my love, just run.
Past a river don't you dare look back for me my love,
I will come, I will come.
You're the one.
