If you've ever wondered what is a PSD file then you're in the right place. In this tutorial, you'll learn exactly what a PSD file is.
Step # 1 -- What does PSD mean?
You may have come across a PSD file once or twice while browsing through Windows Explorer, and frankly if you don't have Photoshop these files will be quite useless to you. However, if you do, it is very important you know what they are and how to utilize them. PSD stands for "Adobe Photoshop Document File" and can only be edited within Adobe Photoshop.
Step # 2 -- Why is PSD useful?
PSD Files allow you to save all of the settings within the Photoshop image, including each individual layer. This is extremely useful for re-editing images; the best example of this is where you have an image with a certain text that you'd like to change. This can be difficult to do without at least slightly altering the background of the image, but if you have a PSD you can just edit the text layer.
Step # 3 -- How to save PSDs
By default, whenever you save an image in Photoshop, it will save as PSD unless you specify another image format. If for whatever reason it isn't set as the default, you can select .PSD from the drop down box underneath the file name box when saving the image.
You won't be able to save an image as a PSD using another image editing software, such as Microsoft Paint, as PSD is only used in Photoshop. Also, you can't convert from another format to PSD without using Photoshop, and there wouldn't really be a point as once an image has been saved as a JPEG for example, there won't be any layering.
Step # 4 -- Converting out of PSD
You can convert a PSD to a JPEG, or any other image format, either with Photoshop or an online tool. However, you'll lose any layers that were previously saved on that PSD and converting back to a PSD won't bring them back, so make sure you keep a backup of the PSD if you wish to do any more editing with the layers intact.

Step # 2 -- Why is PSD useful?
PSD Files allow you to save all of the settings within the Photoshop image, including each individual layer. This is extremely useful for re-editing images; the best example of this is where you have an image with a certain text that you'd like to change. This can be difficult to do without at least slightly altering the background of the image, but if you have a PSD you can just edit the text layer.
Step # 3 -- How to save PSDs
By default, whenever you save an image in Photoshop, it will save as PSD unless you specify another image format. If for whatever reason it isn't set as the default, you can select .PSD from the drop down box underneath the file name box when saving the image.
You won't be able to save an image as a PSD using another image editing software, such as Microsoft Paint, as PSD is only used in Photoshop. Also, you can't convert from another format to PSD without using Photoshop, and there wouldn't really be a point as once an image has been saved as a JPEG for example, there won't be any layering.
Step # 4 -- Converting out of PSD
You can convert a PSD to a JPEG, or any other image format, either with Photoshop or an online tool. Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File,” liberal filmmaker Michael Moore reacted to the likelihood of Donald Trump being the Republican presidential nominee.
Moore told host Megyn Kelly he thought Trump would be the nominee going back to last fall and noted that he has the ability to appeal to certain segments of the electorate.
“I’ve taken him serious,” Moore said. “I felt last fall that he would be the Republican nominee. I think that a lot of people just treat it as a joke and yeah, it’s funny and I laugh at all the joke. But he says things. He goes to places where I’m from, like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc. and tells them Apple should be building those iPhones in the U.S., not in China. That sounds very good.”
Moore questioned whether or not Trump believed his statement to be true, calling him a “capitalist” that knows performance art. However, Moore warned that those who once thought of Trump as a “joke” should no longer do so.
“I think that — I think everybody now is taking Donald Trump very seriously,” Moore said. “And everybody who thought he was a joke last summer, ‘No way is this going to happen,’ right — nobody should treat it like it’s a joke now.”

In 2008, Spanish point-and-click adventure «Dráscula: The Vampire Strikes Back» (aka «Dráscula: El Vampiro») by Alcachofa Soft was re-released as a completely freeware game on ScummVM website. You can officially download it for free here: http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/ ScummVM team did a great job on this one, freeware version works like a charm and there are all the voices and music included. Since it's hard to set up the original CD version properly, I've decided to record the longplay of this one. Honestly, it's the full version of the original game, nothing missed. In 2008, Spanish point-and-click adventure «Dráscula: The Vampire Strikes Back» (aka «Dráscula: El Vampiro») by Alcachofa Soft was re-released as a completely freeware game on ScummVM website. You can officially download it for free here: http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/ ScummVM team did a great job on this one, freeware version works like a charm and there are all the voices and music included. Since it's hard to set up the original CD version properly, I've decided to record the longplay of this one. Honestly, it's the full version of the original game, nothing missed. English translation is fixed a little in freeware version though (you can compare it with the original one from the CD version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjV5GnAogsw), so, there IS a differences, but I don't think it's THAT important. Especially since dub is still the same (that's why the text that the actors read and the text of the subtitles is different). The only thing I'm missing in this version is a built-in screensaver that was completely removed. Well, not like it was deleted, it's jut not showing, because ScummVM is not using the executable files. But I won't stand still to show you the screensaver in these videos anyway, so, it's not a big deal.
Technical note: It's an English version of the freeware edition of the game with FLAC music addon. You can listen to the soundtrack without playing the game BTW, so, it's really nice that all of this is officially free now.
Gameplay note: I'm using graphical interface in this playthrough. There're hotkeys for all the commands in this game, but it won't be nice to watch if I use them. That's why.
