They may train together and even be friends but Isabella Gibson and Eloise Knight went toe-to-toe at the Dubbo eisteddfod on Thursday.

The two Dubbo girls competed against each other in the restricted jazz solo 11 and 12 years only.

However, Isabella said both girls were full of support for each other.

“We’ll just be happy if one of us wins,” she said.

Eloise promised she wouldn’t end the friendship if she was beaten by Isabella.

“Our dances are very different,” she said.

There were two things Isabella said she had been told to remember for her performance: “be confident and just have fun”.

Dubbo dancer Ella Jones was also performing on Thursday. Ella was one of four dancers in the restricted classical solo 11 and 12 years only, wearing a tutu all the way from Russia.

The young performer said she was also going in the contemporary, jazz, song and dance, and entertainment.

“I like everything, I just like dancing,” she said.

Eloise said she wished all the performers in the eisteddfod good luck.
