An executive producer (EP) enables the making of a commercial entertainment product. The EP may be concerned with management accounting and/or with associated legal issues (like copyrights or royalties). An EP generally contributes to the film's budget and may or may not work on set.
In motion pictures, an executive producer oversees the filmmaking with regard to film finance. Executive producers liaise with the line producer and report to production companies and distributors.
In television, an executive producer often supervises the creative content as well as the financial aspects of a production. Some writers (for example Stephen J. Cannell and Tina Fey) have been the creator and also the producer of the same TV show. Other dual roles may include the executive director(s) starring in the show they produce, such as Full Throttle Saloon reality TV star, Jesse James Dupree. Still other shows may have more than one executive producer working on a TV show where there can be one among them who outranks the others. This position is known as the "showrunner," or operational executive producer.

Plot: Bob Thompson wanted a boat, and he and his son, Tom, and Clarence Dickson, a friend, start in to make the craft in the cellar. Many days and much hard work is cheerfully consumed on the job, which, when completed, is a vision of much enjoyment. But the engineering and surveying was at fault; they had not measured the boat and the exit of the cellar. These important qualities did not match and the question at point was, how to get the craft out. The idea of sawing the boat in halves was impossible, the only thing to be done was to knock in the wall of the cellar and dig an exit. This was done and finally the tub was carried down to the river. The proud ship-builders got in and pulled out, when it was discovered that it had not been well caulked. It took water and was rapidly filling. Vivian, Bob's daughter, and the hired man saw the peril and Vivian really did love Clarence. John, the hired man, quickly got a motorboat and motored to the rescue. All lives were saved, and, as the three men at home soaked their feet in mustard and water, they declared, "Never again."

Plot: Bob Thompson is a poultry fan, and with the assistance of his family and friends, proceeds to build a chicken house. They all skirmish for lumber, and, having secured the plans from a poultry book, succeed fairly well in constructing the building. John Smiley who is always doubtful of the success of Bob's engineering schemes, and Thompson being on the inside of the coop, John calls for Bob to come out and take a look at the house. The master builder weighs three hundred pounds and finds that the windows and door are all too small to permit him to make an exit. There is only one thing to do, and that is to chop his way out. This he does, with much show of temper. That night the party goes to Bob's house and tells Vivian, Bob's daughter to tell her father that his friends have come to congratulate him. Bob sends word out that he wants nothing more to do with them, and the bunch retire, disappointed, but realizing that there is nothing doing.

Legendary jazz pianist Bob Thompson covers Phish's "Waste" Live from Mountain Stage.
James Kalm has been a fan of Bob Thompson's work since the late 1970s. In his meteoric though brief career, Thompson not only mingled with the era's most innovative visual artists like Alan Kaprow, Red Grooms and Gandy Brody, but became a friend and supporter of Free Jazz musicians like Ornette Coleman. This exhibition is the first time his drawings have been featured and also presents the "Last Painting" an unfinished picture which allows the viewers to see Thompson's drawing with color and his technique of compositional development.
Follow luthier Bob Thompson into his workshop and discover his passion for the instruments he creates!
Before visiting the gallery, James Kalm had doubts about the pairing of these two disparate painters, but…though they're separated by more than just time, and inclination, this show hangs together beautifully, and presents those kinds of contrasts that allows one to appreciate each artist's distinctions. After many years of painting in obscurity, Louis Eilshemius was discovered at the Independent Artists Exhibition in 1917 by Marcel Duchamp. Although he relinquished painting in the early 1920s his legend floated on locally until a recent uptick in his critical caché. Bob Thompson arrived in New York as Abstract Expressionism was playing out. He moved within a group of innovative artists and musicians, and received early recognition for his painterly skills before an untimely early death...
