To have legal personality means to be capable of having legal rights and obligations within a certain legal system, such as entering into contracts, suing, and being sued. Legal personality is a prerequisite to legal capacity, the ability of any legal person to amend (enter into, transfer, etc.) rights and obligations. In international law, consequently, legal personality is a prerequisite for an international organization to be able to sign international treaties in its own name.
Legal persons (lat. persona iuris) are of two kinds: natural persons (also called physical persons) and juridical persons (also called juridic, juristic, artificial, or fictitious persons, lat. persona ficta) – groups of individuals, such as corporations, which are treated by law as if they are persons. While human beings acquire legal personhood when they are born, juridical persons do so when they are incorporated in accordance with law.
Artificial personality, juridical personality, or juristic personality is the characteristic of a non-living entity regarded by law to have the status of personhood.

In October 2014, the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) published a timely report on reforming our federal system. While the report touches on the themes of local government and subsidiarity, providing valuable contributions in this regard, it does not address the ‘powerlessness’ of what this author suggests is the nucleus of our federalism: the city-region. In this paper, the legal status of cities will be analysed both descriptively and prescriptively. The key proposition is that the Commonwealth is largely a network of cities that power our political, social, and economic systems. Reforming our federalism would hence not only necessitate creating more ‘alpha’ cities, but also affording these cities a wider (asymmetrical) margin of autonomy. Bringing about such change...
(in Hindi) (in Hindi) (in Hindi) (in Hindi) (in Hindi) (in Hindi) Theories of Corporate Personality - Fiction Theory: Only human being real person; legal person is fiction. - Concession Theory: Legal personality to any entity is at mercy of law; law gives this concession and chooses its extenct. - Realist Theory: Groups are real, and so are Companies, not dependent on law’s recognition of it. Takes it too far, later. - Bracket or Symbolist Theory: Corporation is group of members with a bracket. not popular - corporations are more evolved, especially over time.
