Sean McClory (8 March 1924 – 10 December 2003) was an Irish actor whose career spanned six decades and included well over 100 films and television series.
Séan Joseph McClory was born in Dublin, Ireland, but spent his early life in County Galway. He was the son of Hugh Patrick McClory, an architect and civil engineer, and Mary Margaret (née Ball). He was not related to Kevin McClory.
McClory portrayed the Irishman Jack McGivern, the man known for having the best timing around, in the first season of NBC's western television series, The Californians, set in the California Gold Rush of the 1850s. It aired from 1957 to 1959. His co-stars included Nan Leslie as Martha McGivern, Richard Coogan, Herbert Rudley and Adam Kennedy, the latter as newspaperman Dion Patrick.
In 1958, McClory was cast as Ted O'Malley in the episode "Short Haul" of the CBS crime drama, Richard Diamond, Private Detective, starring David Janssen. Nan Leslie appeared with McClory on this episode in the role of Ted's wife, Myrna O'Malley.
The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelizations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. The latest novel is Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, published in September 2015. Additionally Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond, and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny.
The character has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, video games and film. The films are the longest continually running and the third-highest-grossing film series to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2016, there have been twenty-four films in the Eon Productions series. The most recent Bond film, Spectre (2015), stars Daniel Craig in his fourth portrayal of Bond; he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a 1967 spoof) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball).
Sir Thomas Sean Connery (/ˈʃɔːn ˈkɒnəri/; born 25 August 1930) is a retired Scottish actor and producer who has won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one of them being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award) and three Golden Globes (including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award). He was knighted by Elizabeth II in July 2000 and received the Kennedy Center Honors in the US.
Connery is best known for portraying the character James Bond, starring in seven Bond films between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His film career also includes such films as Marnie, The Name of the Rose, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Murder on the Orient Express, Dragonheart, and The Rock.
Connery has been polled as "The Greatest Living Scot" and "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". In 1989, he was proclaimed "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine, and in 1999, at age 69, he was voted "Sexiest Man of the Century".
Fools of Fortune is a 1990 Irish and British drama film directed by Pat O'Connor and starring Iain Glen, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Julie Christie, Catherine McFadden, Amy Joyce Hastings and Michael Kitchen. It depicts a Protestant family caught up in the conflict between the British Army and the IRA during the Irish War of Independence. It was filmed on location in Dublin, County Westmeath, Galway and at Ardmore Studios.
This film is based on the 1983 novel by Irish writer William Trevor.
New York Times reviewer Vincent Canby described the film as "an ambitious mess, of interest only because of the chance to see [Julie] Christie, who becomes more and more tautly beautiful with the years, and [Mary Elizabeth] Mastrantonio, who is also beautiful and does an extremely credible upper-class English accent."The Washington Post described it as "a passionate, mystifyingly awkward bit of filmmaking".
The film went to VHS, but has not yet appeared on DVD. It has no Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

When SPECTRE was announced as the title of the 24th Bond film, Bond fans knew that this was a big deal. SPECTRE, as an organisation, had not appeared in the official series of Bond films for 44 years since 1971's Diamonds Are Forever. The reason behind this leads to what I feel is the most interesting and controversial story of Bond's 50 plus years on the big screen. This 50 year struggle for rights is covered in great detail in Robert Seller's 'The Battle for Bond', spanning 222+ pages (ISBN: 9780955767005). The book that the Ian Fleming Will Trust tried to ban, it's a great read if you want more detail on what this video covers.

The game is based on the 1957 novel and the 1963 film of the same name. The game follows the storyline of the book and film, albeit adding in new scenes to make the game more action-oriented, as well as changing the affiliation of the main villains. Additionally, it features many elements of later Bond films to recreate the feel of the era such as the jet pack from Thunderball (1965) and the Aston Martin DB5 that debuted in Goldfinger (1964). It's two thumbs up for Sean Connery's triumphant return as James Bond 007 in Never Say Never AgainNever Say Never Again. If you have watched some of the other Siskel and Ebert reviews on The 007 Dossier you'll know that Gene Siskel is a great fan of Connery's Bond, and that he finds Moore's Bond to be "trivial, bemused and almost foppish". Both he and Roger Ebert are clearly genuinely excited to see him return to the role he originated, and they talk animatedly, each jumping in to support the claims of the other. In short, both critics describe the film as "terrific", and praise Klaus Maria Brandauer's portrayal of Bond Villain, Largo. Ebert says that most recent Bond Villains have been "cartoony... some kind of neo-Nazi robots with German accents, all the same", while Brandauer's Largo is...

There may be no longer running film franchise than James Bond. James Bond has been a mainstay in films since 1962 and shows no signs of disappearing. It's not hard to believe that there aren't a couple un-produced Bond scripts and we finally tracked one down! James Bond of the Secret Service is the script that eventually became Never Say Never again, which is a remake of the MGM James Bond film Thunderball. Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007 (Documentary Film 2012) Of all of pop culture's mainstays, no media property created after the Golden Age of Hollywood has had more influence and staying power than the James Bond franchise. This film covers the story of that creation from the imagination of Ian Fleming seeking an escape from his boring intelligence job. From that literary success, we follow the creation of the film series under the producer team of Broccoli & Saltzman as it became a media sensation in the 1960s. As the franchise dealt with changing actors, legal conflict with writer Kevin McClory and the growing internal schisms with the producers, it has its greatest challenge: the changing times. Despite this, Bond has proven as incredible adapting to them as his adventure...
