Russian Air Force T 50 Pak Fa ADVANCED STEALTH FIGHTER rival to US air force F-22 in English
The
Sukhoi PAK FA (
Russian: Сухой
ПАК ФА, Russian: Перспективный авиационный комплекс фронтовой авиации, Perspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii, literally "Prospective
Airborne Complex of
Frontline Aviation") is a twin-engine jet fighter being developed by Sukhoi for the
Russian Air Force. The
Sukhoi T-50 is the prototype for
PAK FA.[10] The PAK FA is one of only a handful of stealth jet programs worldwide.[11]
The PAK FA, a fifth generation jet fighter, is intended to be the successor to the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian inventory and serve as the basis of the Sukhoi/
HAL FGFA being developed with
India.[12][13] The
T-50 prototype performed its first flight
29 January 2010.
The Russian Defence Ministry will purchase the first 10 evaluation example aircraft after
2012 and then 60 production standard aircraft after 2016.[14][15][16] The first batch of fighters will be delivered with current technology engines. The
PAK-FA is expected to have a service life of about 30--35 years.[17]
The
Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a single-seat, twin-engine fifth-generation supermaneuverable fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. It was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities that include ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence roles.[5]
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is the prime contractor and is responsible for the majority of the airframe, weapon systems and final assembly of the
F-22.
Program partner
Boeing Defense, Space & Security provides the wings, aft fuselage, avionics integration, and training systems.
The aircraft was variously designated
F-22 and F/
A-22 during the years prior to formally entering
USAF service in
December 2005 as the
F-22A.
Despite a protracted and costly development period, the
United States Air Force considers the F-22 a critical component of
U.S. tactical air power, and claims that the aircraft is unmatched by any known or projected fighter.[6]
Lockheed Martin claims that the
Raptor's combination of stealth, speed, agility, precision and situational awareness, combined with air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities, makes it the best overall fighter in the world today.[7]
Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, former
Chief of the
Australian Defence Force, said in 2004 that the "F-22 will be the most outstanding fighter plane ever built."[8]

Russian Federation[10] (Russian:

Rossiyskaya Federatsiya, IPA: [rɐˈsʲijskəjə fʲɪdʲɪˈrat͡sɨjə] ( listen)), is a country in northern
Eurasia.[11] It is a federal semi-presidential republic, comprising 83 federal subjects. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with
Norway,
Finland,
Estonia,
Latvia,
Lithuania and
Poland (both with
Kaliningrad Oblast),
Belarus,
Ukraine,
Georgia,
Azerbaijan,
Kazakhstan,
China,
Mongolia, and
North Korea. It shares maritime borders with
Japan by the
Sea of Okhotsk and the
U.S. state of
Alaska across the
Bering Strait.
At 17,075,400 square kilometres (6,592,800 sq mi), Russia is the largest country in the world, covering more than one-eighth of the
Earth's inhabited land area. Russia is also the world's ninth most populous nation with
143 million people as of 2012.[12] Extending across the entirety of northern
Asia and much of
Eastern Europe, Russia spans nine time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms.
The Russian
Air Force (Russian:
Военно-воздушные cилы России, tr.
Voyenno-Vozdushnye Sily Rossii) is the aerial warfare service branch of the
Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is currently under the command of
Lieutenant General Viktor Bondarev. The Russian
Navy has its own air arm, the
Russian Naval Aviation, which is the former
Soviet Aviatsiya Voyenno Morskogo Flota ("
Naval Aviation"), or
AV-MF).
The Air Force was formed from parts of the former
Soviet Air Forces after the dissolution of the
Soviet Union in 1991--92.
Boris Yeltsin's creation of the
Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation on 7 May
1992, can be taken as a convenient formation date for the new Air Force. Since that time, the Air Force has suffered severe setbacks due to lack of resources, and has constantly shrunk in size. Since
Vladimir Putin became
President of the Russian Federation however, much more money has been allocated to the Armed Forces as a whole.
The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare service branch of the
United States Armed Forces and one of the seven
American uniformed services. Initially part of the
United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on
18 September 1947 under the
National Security Act of 1947.[5]
