In physics, mass–energy equivalence is a concept formulated by Albert Einstein that explains the relationship between mass and energy. It states every mass has an energy equivalent and vice versa—expressed using the formula
where E is the energy of a physical system, m is the mass of the system, and c is the speed of light in a vacuum (about 7008300000000000000♠3×108 m/s). In words, energy equals mass multiplied by the speed of light squared. Because the speed of light is a very large number in everyday units, the formula implies that any small amount of matter contains a very large amount of energy. Some of this energy may be released as heat and light by chemical or nuclear transformations. This also serves to convert units of mass to units of energy, no matter what system of measurement units used.
Mass–energy equivalence arose originally from special relativity as a paradox described by Henri Poincaré. Einstein proposed it in 1905, in the paper Does the inertia of a body depend upon its energy-content?, one of his Annus Mirabilis ("Miraculous Year") Papers. Einstein was the first to propose that the equivalence of mass and energy is a general principle and a consequence of the symmetries of space and time.
Big Audio Dynamite (later known as Big Audio Dynamite II and Big Audio, and often abbreviated BAD) is a British musical group formed in 1984 by the ex-guitarist and singer of the Clash, Mick Jones. The group is noted for its effective mixture of varied musical styles, incorporating elements of punk rock, dance music, hip hop, reggae, and funk. BAD's one constant throughout frequent shifts in membership and musical direction is the vocals provided by Mick Jones. After releasing a number of well-received albums and touring extensively throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Big Audio Dynamite disbanded in 1997. In 2011, the band embarked on a reunion tour.
After being ousted from the Clash in 1983 and following a brief stint with the band General Public, Mick Jones formed a new band called Top Risk Action Company (T.R.A.C.). He recruited bassist Leo "E-Zee Kill" Williams, saxophone player John "Boy" Lennard (from Theatre of Hate), and ex-Clash drummer Nicky "Topper" Headon. Headon was quickly sacked for his heroin addiction and Lennard either left or was fired and the band folded. Although the band released no material (only demos were recorded which have yet to be officially released), T.R.A.C. can be seen as a forerunner to Big Audio Dynamite in much the same way London SS can be seen as an early incarnation of The Clash.
Deep Water Slang V2.0 is the second album from underground hip hop duo Zion I. This was another critical success for the group, and with music videos for the singles "The Drill", "Finger Paint", "Boom Bip" and "Le, Le, Le", this received more commercial attention than their past work.
The original version of Deep Water Slang was scheduled for release in 2002. After their label's distributor Nu Gruv Alliance folded, the release was pushed back to 2003 and a new track listing was rearranged .
The theory of relativity, or simply relativity in physics, usually encompasses two theories by Albert Einstein: special relativity and general relativity. Concepts introduced by the theories of relativity include spacetime as a unified entity of space and time, relativity of simultaneity, kinematic and gravitational time dilation, and length contraction.
The term "theory of relativity" was based on the expression "relative theory" (German: Relativtheorie) used in 1906 by Max Planck, who emphasized how the theory uses the principle of relativity. In the discussion section of the same paper, Alfred Bucherer used for the first time the expression "theory of relativity" (German: Relativitätstheorie).
The theory of relativity transformed theoretical physics and astronomy during the 20th century. When first published, relativity superseded a 200-year-old theory of mechanics created primarily by Isaac Newton.
In the field of physics, relativity improved the science of elementary particles and their fundamental interactions, along with ushering in the nuclear age. With relativity, cosmology and astrophysics predicted extraordinary astronomical phenomena such as neutron stars, black holes and gravitational waves.
Albert Einstein (/ˈaɪnstaɪn/;German: [ˈalbɛɐ̯t ˈaɪnʃtaɪn]; 14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist. He developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). Einstein's work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. Einstein is best known in popular culture for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"). He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his "services to theoretical physics", in particular his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect, a pivotal step in the evolution of quantum theory.
Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought that Newtonian mechanics was no longer enough to reconcile the laws of classical mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field. This led to the development of his special theory of relativity. He realized, however, that the principle of relativity could also be extended to gravitational fields, and with his subsequent theory of gravitation in 1916, he published a paper on general relativity. He continued to deal with problems of statistical mechanics and quantum theory, which led to his explanations of particle theory and the motion of molecules. He also investigated the thermal properties of light which laid the foundation of the photon theory of light. In 1917, Einstein applied the general theory of relativity to model the large-scale structure of the universe.

Download your FREE infographic here http://www.emmalouiseosborne.com/Shop.html In this video, I explain what Einstein's equation E=mc^2 means and why this discovery became one of the most famous equations in the world. Transcript: E=mc^2 is one of the most famous equations in the world, but what does it actually mean? This equation tells us that energy and mass are the same thing. They are related to each other by a constant and that constant happens to be the speed of light squared. Light travels at 300 million metres per second. If we take one kilogram of mass we get 9 times 10 to the 16 joules of energy out, which is 9 with sixteen zeros after it. That's an incredibly huge amount of energy. In fact it's enough energy to power the United Kingdom for one whole year. It was this discove...

The most famous equation in all of science is Einstein’s E = mc2, but it is also frequently horribly misunderstood and misused. In this video, Fermilab’s Dr. Don Lincoln explains the real truth about this equation and how people often use it wrong. Simple Relativity is a 2D short educational animation film. The film is an attempt to explain Albert Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity with a simpler visual representation and exciting animation. In a time when our day-to-day life is surrounded by technology, most people find it daunting to understand the science and its application. Simple Relativity is an attempt to excite the viewer about this complex phenomenon of Relativity so that they can approach this, and science in general, with a lot more curiosity rather than inhibition.
E=MC² is probably the most famous scientific equation due to it staggering philosophical consequences as well as it's beautiful simplicity. But what does it really mean? 012 - E=mc2 In this video Paul Andersen explains how the conservation of mass was replaced with the conservation of mass-energy when it was determined that they are equivalent. This famous equation not only show the mass-energy equivalence but can be used to determine the quantitative amount of energy gained or lost in this conversion.
