The financial controller heads the accounts department of large companies, private and government sector institutions, to ensure that all figures add up. The financial controller acts in the financial interest of the company or organisation, keeping a close eye on all accounting work completed. The financial controller is part of the finance team and therefore remains in close contact with all accountants and financial managers. The accountants need to provide all financial information to the financial controller for review and evaluation.

The financial controller in turn, reports to company management, shareholders and owners. In terms of government regulations and law, there are strict regulations on matters such as tax and other financial compliance issues. The financial controller is responsible for controlling and overseeing cash flow, budget planning and general financial modeling. The job requires well developed financial, auditing and management skills as well as mid-level industry level experience.
