Front End Engineer

We're looking for an engineer with rock-solid JavaScript/HTML/CSS/image production skills to work on building new features for Digg.com (desktop and mobile web) as well as internal tools that help power Digg.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of front end development experience
  • You can take a layered PSD and build pixel-perfect pages
  • Excellent CSS and JS cross-browser debugging skills (IE8+ and "modern browsers")
  • Familiarity with two or more of the following: AMD, client-side MVC, observer pattern, organizing code for a large-scale JS application, CSS media queries, web performance best practices, HTML email templates
  • Digg is built in Python and the Tornado web framework, so comfort with these and working from the command line is a huge plus

Account Executive

You'll be joining as an Account Executive, helping to build valuable partnerships with emerging and established brands. For this role, we are looking for smart, energetic individuals with a can-do attitude, who enjoy working in a team, love the excitement of closing deals, and thrive in fast-paced environments.

Our business team is small but scrappy, so we're looking for a self-motivated person who doesn't lose sight of the details. The ideal candidate is an Internet aficionado, has a great sense of humor and can deliver under deadlines. You should be comfortable with cold calling and creative when showing clients what Digg has to offer. Previous experience in a digital media sales role is preferred; compensation and title are negotiable based on your level of experience. Love of puns and Sichuan food are a major plus.

This is a full-time position out of our New York offices.

Responsibilities

  • Source, cold call, and outreach to new prospects
  • Pitch and win new and repeat advertising business for Digg
  • Conduct business and sales analysis
  • Industry networking to increase Digg's market presence
  • Account manage and retention of advertising partners
  • Analyze, report and optimize ad campaign performance
  • Propose and create new streams of revenue

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in digital media sales
  • Experience prospecting new business and negotiating complex deals
  • Shows persistence in crowded and competitive marketplace
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, writing, and presentation skills
  • Functional grasp of metrics and financial forecasting
  • Previous experience working with a sales CRM preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or similar work experience
  • Experience with and understanding of media agency world is a plus

Video Curator

Video curation is an integral part of Digg’s editorial strategy. Whether it’s the best late night clips from the night before, an award-winning short film, or however you’d describe this clip of washing machine on a trampoline, we pride ourselves on surfacing the most interesting video content the Internet has to offer. And we’re looking to grow our video curation team by hiring a full time Associate Video Editor.

This is a full- or part-time position for college credit out of our New York offices.

Responsibilities

  • Identify great videos and write smart, honest copy
  • Maintain our video newsletter
  • Work closely with the Digg social team on strategy and original content
  • Assign video projects to freelancers
  • Grow and maintain our network of freelance video creators

Requirements

  • 1-2 years editorial experience (preferably related to web culture or video curation)
  • Flexible schedule (night and weekend shifts are a possibility)

Editorial Intern

Digg is looking for a paid editorial intern for the summer of 2016. We're a nine-person editorial team of news junkies with a sense of humor and a love for Diet Coke and beer (you can have some if you're over 21).

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Based in NYC (or can commute)
  • Available 5 days a week
  • Obsessed with the Internet
  • Interested in social media
  • Active on Twitter (Tumblr is a plus)
  • Able to spot a cool/interesting/different story that other people will like

  • Find the best stories before and as they trend
