Here’s a really weird commercial from the 1930’s for what is believed to be the world’s first vacation beach resort. The advertising was groundbreaking for its time and their tactic of trying to scare people out of their homes worked rather well. The Crystal View Resort Colony did great business initially. In its heyday it was one of the stopping places for the jet set, even before anybody knew what a jet set was. Rumor has it they got shut down for a number of safety violations including strange drownings. They also had problems with sexual harassment lawsuits from vacationers who were improperly massaged.

The following movie is seldom found on non-commercialized broadcast channels. Finding this film on the internet recently was a real surprise for me and now I’m sharing it with all of you.
In my opinion, this is the best of the four movies that Joan Blondell made with Melvyn Douglas (the first three romance comedies were made in the short time period of 1938 – 1939). They made this film at the height of her career, and you’ll note that she receives top billing. It wasn’t until the1945 film “Adventure” that Blondell’s star power would began to fade. Clark Gable received top billing for that adventure film.
In this film, Blondell once again plays the role of a man hunting gal trying to marry into money. Douglas appears as a well-mannered and much caring college professor who is determined to keep Blondell from getting into deep trouble within her misaligned matrimonial pursuits.
The film's ending is superb...
While watching, keep an eye out for one of my favorite actors from my unofficial category of “forgotten” Hollywood actors; Alan Curtis. You may remember him from the Abbott & Costello movies “Buck Privates” and “The Naughty Nineties.” He was also in one of the invisible man movies and appeared in several war movies including one about Pearl Harbor. He has an incredible likeness to modern day actor Ray Liotta (the star of “Goodfellas”).

這是美國的福斯電影公司（Fox Film Corporation）於1930年在台灣拍攝的有聲新聞影片，攝影師為 Eric Mayell；在這段10分鐘的短片裡，我們除了可以一窺80多年前的台灣傳統市場風貌，還能清楚地聽到原汁原味的勸世調與有趣的「喝玲瓏、賣什細」叫賣聲，實在是一份難能可貴的影音紀錄。
拍攝地點為台北大稻埕迪化街，包括永樂市場與霞海城隍廟一帶，影片裡叫賣者後方的門楣上懸掛著「霞海城隍」字樣的布條，叫賣地點就是現址台北市迪化街一段61號的「霞海城隍廟」前方廣場。
1927年，福斯電影公司便已取得有聲電影的製作專利，其運用李德福瑞斯特（Lee De Forest）於1923年發明的「Phonofilms」系統（在底片上製造音軌然後用攝影的方式記錄聲音）所攝製的「福斯影音新聞」（Fox Movietone News），是新聞界最早出現的有聲新聞影片，而我們現在所看到的這段《1930年的台灣市集》（Taiwanese Marketplace）影片正是這些「福斯影音新聞」之一。
近年，二十世紀福斯電影公司（Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation）將昔日所拍攝的眾多「福斯影音新聞」影片捐贈給美國的南卡羅來納大學（University of South Carolina），並將之分享於網路上，而讓我們有機會得以享受這段珍貴的影音紀錄。
1934年12月28日成立的二十世紀福斯電影公司，乃「新藝綜合體」（原名CinemaScope，即一種使用弧形寬銀幕與立體音響發聲的電影）之領導者，該公司由約瑟夫賢克（Joseph Schenck）在1932年創立的二十世紀電影公司（Twentieth Century Pictures）和威廉福斯（William Fox）於1915年創立的福斯電影公司合組而成。
1953年，二十世紀福斯公司改編羅意德．道格拉斯（Lloyd C. Douglas）的暢銷書，推出「新藝綜合體」影片《聖袍千秋》（The Robe，1953），該影片在寬度約為高度二倍半的弧形銀幕上呈現，從此電影邁入寬銀幕的新紀元；其後有《國王與我》（King and I，1956）、《南太平洋》（South Pacific，1958）和《真善美》（The Sound of Music，1965）等電影相繼問世，皆叫好又叫座。

Dave Koz (born March 27, 1963) is an American smooth jazz saxophonist.
Dave Koz was born on March 27, 1963 in Encino, California. Koz attended William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California performing on saxophone as a member of the school jazz band. He later graduated from UCLA with a degree in mass communications in 1986, and only weeks after his graduation, decided to make a go of becoming a professional musician. Within weeks of that decision, he was recruited as a member of Bobby Caldwell's tour. For the rest of the 1980s, Koz served as a session musician in several bands, toured with Jeff Lorber. Koz was a member of Richard Marx's band and toured with Marx throughout the late 1980s. He also played in the house band of CBS' short-lived The Pat Sajak Show, with Tom Scott as bandleader.
In 1990, Koz decided to pursue a solo career, and began recording for Capitol Records. His albums there include Lucky Man, The Dance, and Saxophonic. Saxophonic was nominated for both a Grammy Award and an NAACP Image Award.

這是美國的福斯電影公司（Fox Film Corporation）於1930年在台灣拍攝的有聲新聞影片，攝影師為 Eric Mayell；在這段10分鐘的短片裡，我們除了可以一窺80多年前的台灣傳統市場風貌，還能清楚地聽到原汁原味的勸世調與有趣的「喝玲瓏、賣什細」叫賣聲，實在是一份難能可貴的影音紀錄。 拍攝地點為台北大稻埕迪化街，包括永樂市場與霞海城隍廟一帶，影片裡叫賣者後方的門楣上懸掛著「霞海城隍」字樣的布條，叫賣地點就是現址台北市迪化街一段61號的「霞海城隍廟」前方廣場。 1927年，福斯電影公司便已取得有聲電影的製作專利，其運用李德福瑞斯特（Lee De Forest）於1923年發明的「Phonofilms」系統（在底片上製造音軌然後用攝影的方式記錄聲音）所攝製的「福斯影音新聞」（Fox Movietone News），是新聞界最早出現的有聲新聞影片，而我們現在所看到的這段《1930年的台灣市集》（Taiwanese Marketplace）影片正是這些「福斯影音新聞」之一。 近年，二十世紀福斯電影公司（Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation）將昔日所拍攝的眾多「福斯影音新聞」影片捐贈給美國的南卡羅來納大學（University of South Carolina），並將之分享於網路上，而讓我們有機會得以享受這段珍貴的影音紀錄。 1934年12月28日成立的二十世紀福斯電影公司，乃「新藝綜合體」（原名CinemaScope，即一種使用弧形寬銀幕與立體音響發聲的電影）之領導者，該公司由約瑟夫賢克（Joseph Schenck）在1932年創立的二十世紀電影公司（Twentieth Century Pictures）和威廉福斯（William Fox）於1915年創立的福斯電影公司合組而成。 1953年，二十世紀福斯公司改編羅意德．道格拉斯（Lloyd C. The advertising was groundbreaking for its time and their tactic of trying to scare people out of their homes worked rather well. The Crystal View Resort Colony did great business initially. In its heyday it was one of the stopping places for the jet set, even before anybody knew what a jet set was. Rumor has it they got shut down for a number of safety violations including strange drownings. They also had problems with sexual harassment lawsuits from vacationers who were improperly massaged. -

The following movie is seldom found on non-commercialized broadcast channels. Finding this film on the internet recently was a real surprise for me and now I’m sharing it with all of you. In my opinion, this is the best of the four movies that Joan Blondell made with Melvyn Douglas (the first three romance comedies were made in the short time period of 1938 – 1939). They made this film at the height of her career, and you’ll note that she receives top billing. It wasn’t until the1945 film “Adventure” that Blondell’s star power would began to fade. The following movie is seldom found on non-commercialized broadcast channels. Finding this film on the internet recently was a real surprise for me and now I’m sharing it with all of you.
In my opinion, this is the best of the four movies that Joan Blondell made with Melvyn Douglas (the first three romance comedies were made in the short time period of 1938 – 1939). They made this film at the height of her career, and you’ll note that she receives top billing. It wasn’t until the1945 film “Adventure” that Blondell’s star power would began to fade. Clark Gable received top billing for that adventure film.
In this film, Blondell once again plays the role of a man hunting gal trying to marry into money. Douglas appears as a well-mannered and much caring college professor who is determined to keep Blondell from getting into deep trouble within her misaligned matrimonial pursuits.
The film's ending is superb...
While watching, keep an eye out for one of my favorite actors from my unofficial category of “forgotten” Hollywood actors; Alan Curtis. You may remember him from the Abbott & Costello movies “Buck Privates” and “The Naughty Nineties.” He was also in one of the invisible man movies and appeared in several war movies including one about Pearl Harbor. He has an incredible likeness to modern day actor Ray Liotta (the star of “Goodfellas”).

The following movie is seldom found on non-commercialized broadcast channels. Finding this film on the internet recently was a real surprise for me and now I’m sharing it with all of you.
In my opinion, this is the best of the four movies that Joan Blondell made with Melvyn Douglas (the first three romance comedies were made in the short time period of 1938 – 1939). They made this film at the height of her career, and you’ll note that she receives top billing. It wasn’t until the1945 film “Adventure” that Blondell’s star power would began to fade. Clark Gable received top billing for that adventure film.
In this film, Blondell once again plays the role of a man hunting gal trying to marry into money. Douglas appears as a well-mannered and much caring college professor who is determined to keep Blondell from getting into deep trouble within her misaligned matrimonial pursuits.
The film's ending is superb...
While watching, keep an eye out for one of my favorite actors from my unofficial category of “forgotten” Hollywood actors; Alan Curtis. You may remember him from the Abbott & Costello movies “Buck Privates” and “The Naughty Nineties.” He was also in one of the invisible man movies and appeared in several war movies including one about Pearl Harbor. He has an incredible likeness to modern day actor Ray Liotta (the star of “Goodfellas”).

1927年，福斯電影公司便已取得有聲電影的製作專利，其運用李德福瑞斯特（Lee De Forest）於1923年發明的「Phonofilms」系統（在底片上製造音軌然後用攝影的方式記錄聲音）所攝製的「福斯影音新聞」（Fox Movietone News），是新聞界最早出現的有聲新聞影片，而我們現在所看到的這段《1930年的台灣市集》（Taiwanese Marketplace）影片正是這些「福斯影音新聞」之一。
近年，二十世紀福斯電影公司（Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation）將昔日所拍攝的眾多「福斯影音新聞」影片捐贈給美國的南卡羅來納大學（University of South Carolina），並將之分享於網路上，而讓我們有機會得以享受這段珍貴的影音紀錄。
1934年12月28日成立的二十世紀福斯電影公司，乃「新藝綜合體」（原名CinemaScope，即一種使用弧形寬銀幕與立體音響發聲的電影）之領導者，該公司由約瑟夫賢克（Joseph Schenck）在1932年創立的二十世紀電影公司（Twentieth Century Pictures）和威廉福斯（William Fox）於1915年創立的福斯電影公司合組而成。
1953年，二十世紀福斯公司改編羅意德．道格拉斯（Lloyd C. Douglas）的暢銷書，推出「新藝綜合體」影片《聖袍千秋》（The Robe，1953），該影片在寬度約為高度二倍半的弧形銀幕上呈現，從此電影邁入寬銀幕的新紀元；其後有《國王與我》（King and I，1956）、《南太平洋》（South Pacific，1958）和《真善美》（The Sound of Music，1965）等電影相繼問世，皆叫好又叫座。
