Fourth Estate: The failure of The Democratic Alliance
The
Democratic Alliance had been established together all opposition parties and eminent persons with an interest in bringing about a democratic change of government by, mainly, selecting a single candidate to run against Museveni in 2016.
However this attempt at opposition unity failed, largely due to
FDC refusing to cede ground to
Amama Mbabazi, who was the favoured candidate of most parties and unaffiliated individuals in
TDA.
The Fourth Estate panel reviews the events leading up to the failure to pick an joint candidate while attempting to analyse what could have led to the failure.
