A society is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members. In the social sciences, a larger society often evinces stratification or dominance patterns in subgroups.
Insofar as it is collaborative, a society can enable its members to benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis; both individual and social (common) benefits can thus be distinguished, or in many cases found to overlap.
A society can also consist of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant, larger society. This is sometimes referred to as a subculture, a term used extensively within criminology.

The Alarm - Interview/feature on Welsh Language Society 1989
A policy that bans staff in Lidl from speaking languages other than English has been branded ‘appalling’ by the Welsh Language Society. The policy, which came after two staff members at a branch in Fife, Scotland, were banned from speaking Polish to each other, says that all employees must speak in English to customers irrespective of their native tongue. But the chairman of the Welsh Language Society (Cymdeithas yr laith) slammed the policy as ‘appalling’ and questioned its legality. ‘Since the Welsh language bill was passed four years ago, it is illegal to stop staff from speaking to customers in Welsh,’ said Jamie Bevan. Lidl defended their policy, and said it was to make staff and customers ‘feel comfortable’, but added that staff may speak the native language of the customer if th...
Saunders Lewis was an author, poet and literary critic. He was a Nobel nominee for literature in 1970 and is perhaps one of the most well-known Welsh language authors. However, his most important legacy is the effect he had on the Welsh Nationalist movement, from being a founding member of Plaid Cymru, (founded as Plaid Genedlaethol Cymru or 'Welsh National Party'), to inspiring the creation of the Welsh Language Society. Lewis was a man whose life can be characterized as one led with great conviction and dedication to an ideal that seemed impossible to realise. This talk will explore the life and legacy of Saunders Lewis, the history of Militant Welsh Nationalism and what lessons we can take from it's struggle.

Here is the first of a series of brief lessons teaching the basics of the Welsh language, created for an online friend of mine. Couple of notes, firstly I look sideways cause it's late at night and I think I can hear someone come downstairs, probably wondering "Who is that idiot reciting the alphabet?", and I'm smiling for the same reason really. Leave me an note and enjoy.
National Action spokesman Alex Davies looks at the life and achievements of Saunders Lewis in an animated and lively presentation to the first Welsh Forum held in Cardiff last weekend. Colin Nosworthy of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg tells CJS News the Welsh Government should force private sector organisations to treat the Welsh language the same as the English language.
Welsh Language Society protest, Cardiff "Following a year of campaigning against major companies in the private sector, Cymdeithas yr Iaith (The Welsh Language Society) held a Rally on the main retail street of Wales and our capital city, Cardiff, today to draw the attention of the Assembly Government to the need for all legislative powers regarding the Welsh language to be devolved from Whitehall to the Assembly in Cardiff. Bethan Williams, Chairperson of Cymdeithas' Welsh Language Act group said: "We have been campaigning relentlessly over the past twelve months, lobbying, letter writing, and taking direct action against the giants of the private sector, leading to many of our members receiving criminal records and heavy fines. Despite their sacrifices for linguistic justice, very ...
In 1982, the Welsh Guards (CO Lieutenant-Colonel John Rickett) formed part of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the British Task Force sent to liberate the Falkland Islands from Argentinian occupation during the Falklands War. On 7 June they were on board the ill-fated Sir Galahad, which was accompanied by Sir Tristram, waiting to be landed at Bluff Cove though they were delayed from doing so. However, attack was imminent after the landing craft were spotted by Argentinian observers. At 2:00 am, five Dagger and five A-4 Skyhawk aircraft were seen over the Falklands. Shortly afterwards, the Daggers were the first to attack. Only a short time later, the Skyhawks reached Fitzroy, with three of the aircraft hitting the Sir Galahad two or more times with horrific consequences. Sir Tristram was also h...

Real (unsuppressed) History of the Welsh (British) (FULL VERSION) by Alan Wilson. "The ancient Coelbren Alphabet is the language (original ancient script) of the Khumry (Cymru, Kimmeroi, Kimmerians), it is 4000 years old." (and is dismissed as a forgery, yet is found all over the world, as proof of migration!). https://www.youtube.com/user/RealBritishHistory . * As with Moses, the past existence of King Arthur has been dismissed as a myth. However if Mr Wilson's research has uncovered the truth: -- then the Welsh are the true House of Israel, one (or more) of the 10 "Lost Tribes"; -- then the earthly "Nation of Israel" is a fabrication. As told in [REVELATION], God's Kingdom is not an earthly Kingdom; -- then "Ancient History" is a fabrication; -- then the Welsh are Semites, so...

"The Welsh of Tennessee" is the subject of this Brown Bag Lecture by Dr. Eirug Davies, associate member of Harvard University's Celtic Department, who discusses his new book and the remarkable story of how the Welsh helped develop East Tennessee's fledgling iron and coal industries after the Civil War. In the mid-nineteenth century, the Welsh began migrating to escape onerous British laws affecting their language, religion, and traditions. Many moved to Pennsylvania where their skills were welcomed. After the Civil War, they began to move on elsewhere, with a number coming to East Tennessee where they found ready work. In America, they found the freedom to practice and preserve their traditions and culture, while those in Welsh still could not do so. It was the Welsh who were instrum...
(Intro)
Let's do it!
(Verse)
The only thing they're scared is I'll walk so tall
For years and even now they pray to watch me fall
Their pretty words and ways give me the leading vision
Doing like change, I just like to sum all the factoration
Their breath is wasted, such a bitter pill to choke on
Their time is fleeting back, they're waiting for my swan song
Tearing me down, won't love or raise you any higher
(Bridge)
Criticize, condemned, complain
The mirror shows who takes the blame
(Chorus)
The language you speak is dead
Dishonored, disgraced
The language you speak is dead
Damaged, buried
The language you speak is dead
Indifference, forgotten
The language you speak is dead
There's never been a war where all they want such blood
(Verse)
Still dreaming demise and you'll see it, you'll see it
The last put our first signs, they believe it, believe it
‘Cause deeper inside if you let it, you let it
You speak of the end and you'll get it, you'll get it
Cheering their wakes will never raise you higher
You only damn yourself
You only damn yourself!
(Bridge)
Criticize, condemned, complain
The mirror shows who takes the blame
(Chorus)
The language you speak is dead
Dishonored, disgraced
The language you speak is dead
Damaged, buried
The language you speak is dead
Indifference, forgotten
The language you speak is dead
There's never been a war where all they want such blood
When you kill trust
