This morning I gave evidence at the Women & Equalities Select Committee - to spell out how the Labour Party is working to achieve gender equality in Parliament. I am proud that the Labour Party has 99 women MPs. That is 43% of the Parliamentary Labour Party. To date Labour has had more women MPs than all of the other political parties put together. But we know we must do better. We are committed to a target of 50% representation of women in Parliament and across all areas of public office. We will continue to have all women shortlists and oppose the boundary review which would have a negative effect on women's representation in Parliament.
