John Jirus is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Xavier. He is perhaps best known for his appearances with Ring of Honor between 2002 and 2004, where he was the second ROH Champion.
Jirus trained under Tony DeVito before debuting in 1997. He wrestled for various independent promotions in New York City, adopting the ring name "Xavier", before joining Ring of Honor (ROH) in 2002.
Xavier appeared on the first ever ROH show, The Era of Honor Begins, on February 23, 2002, defeating Scoot Andrews. Throughout the following months, Xavier feuded with Andrews and James Maritato. He took part in the Road to the Title tournament, attempting to become the number one contender to the ROH Championship, but was eliminated in the first round by Amazing Red. After decisively defeating Andrews on several occasions, Xavier requested, and was granted, a shot at the ROH Championship. He faced the incumbent champion, Low Ki, on September 21, 2002, and defeated Low-Ki in a match which saw extensive cheating on the part of Xavier and interference from Christopher Daniels. Following his victory, the newly crowned champion joined Daniels' heel stable, The Prophecy. With the help of The Prophecy, Xavier successfully defended his title against Jay Briscoe, A.J. Styles and, on two occasions, Paul London, before losing to Samoa Joe at Night of Champions on March 22, 2003.
The Saw series of horror films features a large cast of characters created primarily by directors and screenwriters James Wan, Leigh Whannell, Darren Lynn Bousman, Patrick Melton, and Marcus Dunstan. The series focuses on the character of John Kramer (Tobin Bell), the "Jigsaw Killer", who seeks out those he considers to be wasting their lives and subjects them to torturous and lethal traps, referred to as "tests" and "games", in an attempt to make them appreciate living. The series comprises seven films: Saw (2004), Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), Saw V (2008), Saw VI (2009), and Saw 3D: The Final Chapter (2010).
Adam was a freelance photographer hired by the discharged detective David Tapp to follow the man he suspected of being the Jigsaw Killer, Dr. Lawrence Gordon. Adam was kidnapped and placed in a game alongside Gordon, which took place in a large dilapidated bathroom, and each of them were given conflicting goals to accomplish by a certain time. Lawrence was tasked with killing Adam, while Adam had to try to escape; if they failed to complete their respective tests by six then they would both die. After failing to complete their tests by the deadline they were confronted by Zep Hindle. Adam beat Zep to death with a toilet tank cover, believing him to be their captor, but after Lawrence crawled away to get help, the real Jigsaw Killer revealed himself, and sealed the bathroom door, leaving Adam shackled to die.
Professor Charles Francis Xavier (also known as Professor X) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and is the founder and leader of the X-Men. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963).
Xavier is a member of a subspecies of humans known as mutants who are born with superhuman abilities. The founder of the X-Men, he himself is an exceptionally powerful telepath who can read and control minds of others. While running a private school in upstate New York in order to both shelter and train mutants from around the globe, Xavier also fights to serve the greater good by promoting peaceful coexistence and equality between humans and mutants in a world where often zealous anti-mutant bigotry is widespread.
Throughout much of the character's history in comics, Xavier is a paraplegic variously confined to either a wheelchair or a form of personal hovercraft. One of the world's most powerful telepathic mutant minds, Xavier is also something of a scientific genius, having earned Ph.Ds in genetics, biophysics, psychology, and anthropology, as well as an M.D. in psychiatry. He's put his combined talents to use by serving as a leading authority on genetics, mutations, and psionic powers. Furthermore, he has shown noteworthy talents in devising equipment to greatly enhance psionic powers. Xavier is perhaps best known in this regard for the creation of a device called Cerebro, a technology that serves to detect and track those individuals possessing the mutant gene, at the same time greatly expanding the gifts of those with existing psionic abilities.
Glide may refer to:
Gliding flight is heavier-than-air flight without the use of thrust; the term volplaning also refers to this mode of flight in animals. It is employed by gliding animals and by aircraft such as gliders. This mode of flight involves flying a greater distance horizontally than vertically and therefore can be distinguished from a simple descent like with a round parachute.
Although the human application of gliding flight usually refers to aircraft designed for this purpose, most powered aircraft are capable of gliding without engine power. As with sustained flight, gliding generally requires the application of an airfoil, such as the wings on aircraft or birds, or the gliding membrane on gliding possum. However, gliding can be achieved with a flat (uncambered) wing, as with a simple paper plane, or even with card-throwing. However some aircraft with lifting bodies and animals such as the flying snake can achieve gliding flight without any wings by creating a flattened surface underneath.
Glide is an instant video messaging platform for iOS and Android mobile devices. The app enables a user to live stream broadcast brief video clips, in a similar way as sending text messages.Glide communicates through Wifi, 3G, 4G & LTE. Using the Glide app, users have the ability to send private videos up to 5 minutes to a desired list of contacts. Recipients have the freedom to watch and respond to the video instantly or later. All messages can be watched anytime and saved on the cloud. This Jerusalem based startup was founded by Jonathan Caras, Adam Korbi, Ari Roisman on May 15th 2012 and was officially launched to the public in March of 2013. Glide won the Techcrunch Startup Battlefield Audience Choice award at the publication’s disrupt New York Technology conference in 2013. In 2015 Glide has reported to have more than 15 million active users.
