Carl Craig (born May 22, 1969) is a Detroit-based producer of techno music, and is considered to be one of the most important names in the Detroit second generation of techno producers and DJs. According to an article about Craig, "Of this group, Craig was often recognised as being the most artful and the most willing to engage the rapidly growing shape of techno outside Detroit." Craig has approached techno using inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including jazz and soul.

Early years

Carl Craig was born in Detroit. He attended Detroit's Cooley High School, where he developed an interest in music. He learned to play guitar and later became interested in club music through a cousin who worked lighting for Detroit area parties. After hearing Derrick May's radio show on WJLB, Craig began experimenting with recording on a dual-deck cassette player. He later talked his parents into buying him a synthesizer and sequencer. While taking an electronics course, Craig met someone who knew May and passed along a tape of some of his home studio productions. May was impressed, and in 1989 this resulted in Craig's first professional recording, "Neurotic Behavior."

DJ Hell

Helmut Josef Geier, professionally known as DJ Hell (born September 6, 1962 in Altenmarkt an der Alz, Bavaria, DE), is a German house / techno DJ. He is the label boss of International DeeJay Gigolo Records and has been responsible for many of the big records to come out of the electroclash that emerged in Berlin in the mid-nineties. He is seen as the musical initiator of the 80's revival movement later known as electroclash popularizing the music from his hometown Munich from the mid to late 90's.

In 2006, DJ Hell was involved in a German Intel promotional campaign involving five demogroups (Andromeda Software Development, Conspiracy, Fairlight, Farbrausch and mfx), who were set out to create 30-second demos using remixed versions of a DJ Hell track.

IMAs 4 track EP was released in 1980 on an independent label.

In September 2009, DJ Hell was at the centre of controversy when Felix da Housecat announced that DJ Hell's track "The DJ Ft. P Diddy", from the album Teufelswerk, used content taken without the permission of Felix da Housecat or P Diddy.

Falling Up (band)

Falling Up is an American experimental rock band from Albany, Oregon. Falling Up formed in October 2001, and released their debut album called Crashings in 2004. They were signed to BEC Recordings until 2010 when they went independent. The band's name is derived from the first song they wrote, which refers to how imperfect people are, but how sufficient the grace of God is to compensate for it. In harmony with their name, their lyrics are heavily grace-themed.

As well as going through several different band line-ups, Falling Up has gone through several transformations in terms of musical style mainly due to a constantly changing line-up, in which certain members who played instruments on previous albums left the band. For example, after the release of the band's debut album, Andrew Wadlow, the original turntablist, left the band, which caused them to morph into a more electronic rock sound with the welcome of keyboardist Adam Taylor (who did not play turntables). With their debut, Crashings, the band introduced a nu metal-influenced style with raprock elements they referred to as "core-rock". This style was also kept on the band's second album, Dawn Escapes, although it included more experimental rock influences and greater usage of strings and keyboards. Later on, Falling Up moved more in the direction of melodic rock, and experimented with electronic and synthetic music, which gradually morphed into an overall experimental rock sound. Currently, Falling Up describes their style as experimental rock, Ambient pop and Indie rock. At the release of the band's final album, lead singer Jessy Ribordy, bassist Jeremy Miller and drummer Josh Shroy were the only members to have recorded on every album.
