Warlord

A warlord is a person who has both military and civil control over a subnational area due to the presence of armed forces who are loyal to the warlord rather than to a central authority.

Description

The term can also mean one who espouses the ideal that war is necessary, and has the means and authority to engage in war. Today, the word has a strong connotation that the person exercises far more power than their official title or rank legitimately permits. Under feudalism, by contrast, the local military leader may enjoy great autonomy and a personal army, and still derive legitimacy from formal fealty to a central authority.

Warlordism is a term coined to describe chaos at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the birth of the Republic of China, from the death of Yuan Shikai in 1916 until 1928. This period is called the warlord era of China. It can however be used to describe similar periods in other countries or epochs such as in Japan during the Sengoku period, or in China during the Three Kingdoms.

Nollywood Movies

Nollywood Movies (or Nollywood as it appears on the EPG) is a subscription movie television channel, broadcast in the United Kingdom on the Sky, Virgin media and TalkTalk Plus TV platforms. Each month the channel offers over 30 different new and recently released Nigerian movies, 24-hours-a-day. It is the first such channel in operation in the UK. Films offered are primarily in English, with some subtitled, in genres including drama, comedy, romance, family, thriller, traditional, fantasy and true story films. The channel is funded through subscription and advertising.

As of June 2014, along with several other international channels, Nollywood Movies is available on TalkTalk Plus TV channel 477. The channel is part of the African TV Boost.

Film

A film, also called a movie, motion picture or photoplay, is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to the phi phenomenon. This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession. A film is created by photographing actual scenes with a motion picture camera; by photographing drawings or miniature models using traditional animation techniques; by means of CGI and computer animation; or by a combination of some or all of these techniques and other visual effects. The word "cinema", short for cinematography, is often used to refer to the industry of films and filmmaking or to the art of filmmaking itself. The contemporary definition of cinema is the art of simulating experiences to communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty or atmosphere by the means of recorded or programmed moving images along with other sensory stimulations.

The process of filmmaking is both an art and an industry.

Nigerians

There have been several major historical states in Nigeria that have influenced Nigerian society via their strong kings and their advanced legal and taxation systems, and the use of religion to legitimize the power of the king and to unite the people. Northern Nigeria has been culturally influenced by Islamic influence including several major historic Islamic states in the region. The Kanem-Bornu Empire and the Sokoto Caliphate were major historical Islamic states in northern Nigeria. Southern Nigeria historically held several powerful states, including the Benin Empire and Oyo Empire, Ife Empire and several other Yoruba states.

Teams included on the tape are The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal), The Midnight Express (Eaton and Lane), The Four Horsemen (Anderson and Blanchard), The Fantastics (Rogers and Fulton), Lex Luger and Sting, The Jive Tones (Whatley and Conway), Ivan Koloff and Dick Murdoch, Larry Zbyszko and Al Perez, The Varsity Club (Rotunda and Steiner), The Powers of Pain (Warlord and Barbarian), Jimmy Valiant and Mighty Wilbur, The Sheepherders (Miller and Williams), Kendall Windham and The Italian Stallion, and Ron Simmons and Steve Williams. I won't tell the matches as that will give away the winners (since this was a single elimination tournament). Other matches on the card are NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair vs Nikita Koloff, The Midnight Rider (Dusty Rhodes) vs J.J. Dillon in a bloody Texas Bullrope Match, and Jimmy Garvin vs Kevin Sullivan in a Prince of Darkness Death Match (both wrestlers had hoods over their heads and couldn't see). Finally, the tape goes back to January 24, 1988 for the finals of the Third Annual Bunkhouse Stampede. Battle royales had been held at several house shows in the weeks leading up to this event, and the winners of each battle royale entered this battle royale final, held inside a steel cage. The match is joined in progress on the tape, so I don't know if some wrestlers had already been eliminated. The wrestlers on the tape are Arn Anderson, Road Warrior Animal, The Barbarian, Tully Blanchard, Ivan Koloff, Lex Luger, The Warlord, and the winner of the first two Bunkhouse Stampedes, Dusty Rhodes.
