October 23, 2013 Philadelphia Police - The Philadelphia Police Department'a East Detectives Division is asking for the public's assistance to identify the suspect for a shooting in Harrowgate.
On October 19, 2013, at 3:50 pm, 24th District Officers responded to a shooting at 3551 H Street. When Officers arrived they found several fired casings in the intersection of H and Thayer Streets. Surveillance video recovered from the area depicted an unknown male on the corner of H and Thayer Streets who enters the intersection and fires several shots into a residence on the 3500 block of H Street. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
Suspect Description: Black male, 5'8"-5'10", wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with an "American Eagle" logo, black jeans, black neoprene half mask and armed with a handgun.
If you see this suspect do not approach him, contact 911 immediately.

Eastern State Penitentiary is known to be one of the most haunted and oldest prisions to date. Opened in 1829, this was known as the most expensive prison every built in America at that time. It even housed the famous american gangster, Al Capone. It closed in 1971 and is now owned by eastern state preservation group. Besides punishing the criminals inside it walls, it also was created to move the criminal toward spiritual reflection and change. The method was a Quaker-inspired system of isolation from other prisoners, with labor. The early system was strict. To prevent distraction, knowledge of the building, and even mild interaction with guards, inmates were hooded whenever they were outside their cells. But the proponents of the system believed strongly that the criminals, exposed, in silence, to thoughts of their behavior and the ugliness of their crimes, would become genuinely penitent. Opened in 1829, this was known as the most expensive prison every built in America at that time. It even housed the famous american gangster, Al Capone. It closed in 1971 and is now owned by eastern state preservation group. Besides punishing the criminals inside it walls, it also was created to move the criminal toward spiritual reflection and change. The method was a Quaker-inspired system of isolation from other prisoners, with labor. The early system was strict. To prevent distraction, knowledge of the building, and even mild interaction with guards, inmates were hooded whenever they were outside their cells. But the proponents of the system believed strongly that the criminals, exposed, in silence, to thoughts of their behavior and the ugliness of their crimes, would become genuinely penitent. October 23, 2013 Philadelphia Police - The Philadelphia Police Department'a East Detectives Division is asking for the public's assistance to identify the suspect for a shooting in Harrowgate. On October 19, 2013, at 3:50 pm, 24th District Officers responded to a shooting at 3551 H Street. When Officers arrived they found several fired casings in the intersection of H and Thayer Streets. Surveillance video recovered from the area depicted an unknown male on the corner of H and Thayer Streets who enters the intersection and fires several shots into a residence on the 3500 block of H Street. When Milton S Hershey bought 485 hectares (1,200 acres) of farm land in 1903 to build a new factory to produce his unique chocolate, little did he realise he was creating a new town too. But just like the other great chocolate pioneer, Cadbury in the UK, a township was built to house his employees, and the town of Hershey was born. Located in central Pennsylvania's Derry Township, approximately 130km (81 miles) from Philadelphia, the town grew into what it is today, a paradise of all things chocolate. Known as Chocolatetown USA, 'the sweetest place on earth', this chocoholic Garden of Eden is a fun excursion. It even housed the famous american gangster, Al Capone. It closed in 1971 and is now owned by eastern state preservation group. Besides punishing the criminals inside it walls, it also was created to move the criminal toward spiritual reflection and change. The method was a Quaker-inspired system of isolation from other prisoners, with labor. The early system was strict. To prevent distraction, knowledge of the building, and even mild interaction with guards, inmates were hooded whenever they were outside their cells. But the proponents of the system believed strongly that the criminals, exposed, in silence, to thoughts of their behavior and the ugliness of their crimes, would become genuinely penitent. Historic Philadelphia is where the Founding Fathers laid the groundwork for the creation of America. Not only is the city packed with sites that commemorate what they did, but you can visit the places where they actually lived and worked. Let's start with Declaration House on Seventh and Market Street. Thomas Jefferson lived here during the time he wrote the Declaration of Independence. He wrote the document in three weeks.
The Liberty Bell, right here on Sixth Street, is perhaps Philadelphia's most famous attraction. On July 8th, 1776, it was rung to commemorate the hearing of the Declaration of Independence. The Bell weighs 2,000 pounds, which may not be apparent by looking at it. It was cracked in 1846, and has not been rung since then. Across the street from the Liberty Bell is Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Inside you can visit the room where the representatives gathered and you can see the actual inkstand that was used at that time.
Congress Hall, as you might guess from the name, was home of the first Congress. On top of that, George Washington and John Adams were inaugurated here, and the Bill of Rights was ratified right inside. The Bourse Building was the first commodities exchange in the United States. This is the second bank of the United States which was modeled on the Parthenon in Athens. It was built in the early 1800's and was one of the most powerful financial institutions at one time.
The Merchant's Exchange, right here behind me, is the oldest stock exchange in the US. City Tavern is a recreation of the original City Tavern where the founding fathers, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams used to meet. You can have an authentic Eighteenth Century dining experience here. Even the waiters where outfits from those times. Here is the first bank of the United States, which was operational from 1797 to 1811.
At Franklin Court you can walk through Ben Franklin's house, kind of. Though the structure itself was raised in 1812, the ghost of it still stands today. Here is the Christ Church Burial Ground, another famous landmark, where Ben Franklin and four other signers of the Declaration of Independence were laid to rest. Cheesesteaks and pretzels aside, you'll be amazed at the comprehensive choice of food available in the city, from fine dining to ethnic cuisine. This eclectic mix is visible in over 100 multi-ethnic neighbourhoods, encompassing everything from the bustling Italian market to African-American festivals and the traditional Amish community, who sell produce and foodstuffs in Reading Terminal Market, a purveyor of fresh farm food since 1892.
This diversity has also helped produce some legendary musicians. In fact, few would argue that Philly's musical heritage could rival that of New York. Since colonial times, it has been a melting pot of many forms of music from classical to contemporary. Philadelphia was also the home of Dick Clark's famous American Bandstand TV show, which showcased some of America's leading singers and musicians in the 1960's, such as Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell, themselves natives of Philly's south side. 'Me and Mrs Jones', 'Love Train' and the Three Degrees' 'When Will I See You Again' were all products of TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia), which followed Motown into the 1970s as the shining light of soul music.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is among the largest art museums in the United States. It has collections of more than 227,000 objects that include "world-class holdings of European and American paintings, prints, drawings and decorative arts." The Main Building is visited by more than 800,000 people annually, and is located at the west end of Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Other museum sites include the Rodin Museum, also located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway; the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building, across the street from the Main Building; and historic houses in Fairmount Park. The Perelman Building opened in 2007, and houses some of the more popular collections, as well as the Museum's library, with over 200,000 books and periodicals, and 1.6 million other documents. The museum is closed on Mondays, and the basic entrance price is $20, with various concessions. The museum holds a total of about 25 special exhibitions every year, including touring exhibitions arranged with other museums in the United States and abroad. Some have an extra charge for entrance. The City Council of Philadelphia funded a competition in 1895 to design a new museum building,[9] but it was not until 1907 that plans were first made to construct it on Fairmount, a rocky hill topped by the city's main reservoir. The Fairmount Parkway (renamed Benjamin Franklin Parkway), a grand boulevard that cut diagonally across the grid of city streets, was designed to terminate at the foot of the hill. But there were conflicting views about whether to erect a single museum building, or a number of buildings to house individual collections. The architectural firms of Horace Trumbauer and Zantzinger, Borie and Medary collaborated for more than a decade to resolve these issues. The final design is mostly credited to two architects in Trumbauer's firm: Howell Lewis Shay for the building's plan and massing, and Julian Abele for the detail work and perspective drawings. Construction of the Main Building began in 1919, when Mayor Thomas B. Smith laid the cornerstone in a Masonic ceremony. Because of shortages caused by World War I and other delays, the new building was not completed until 1928. The facade and columns are made of Minnesota dolomite. The building's eight pediments were intended to be adorned with sculpture groups. The only pediment that has been completed, "Western Civilization" (1933) by C. Paul Jennewein, features his polychrome sculptures of painted terra-cotta figures, depicting Greek deities and mythological figures. It was completed in 1933 and garnered much praise when it was unveiled. The building is also adorned by a collection of bronze griffins, which were adopted as the symbol of the museum in the 1970s. The Main Building was once derided as the "Great Greek garage," but now is fondly nicknamed the "Parthenon on the Parkway." The Museum houses more than 227,000 objects showing the creative achievements of the Western world since the first century CE and those of Asia since the third millennium BCE Though the Museum houses over 200 galleries spanning 2,000 years, it does not have any galleries devoted to Egyptian, Roman, or Pre-Columbian art. This is because a partnership between the Museum and the University of Pennsylvania had been enacted early in the Museum's history. The University loaned the Museum its collection of Chinese porcelain, and the Museum loaned a majority of its Roman, Pre-Columbian, and Egyptian pieces to the University. Fresh off a primary win in his home state of Ohio, Gov. John Kasich will host a town hall event Wednesday afternoon at Villanova University.
Kasich bested Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in Ohio on Tuesday, securing his first victory in the fight for the GOP's presidential nomination. But he badly trails Trump in delegates and could need a brokered convention to win the nomination.
The town hall begins at noon at Villanova's Connelly Center. It is expected to last about 90 minutes.
While Kasich enjoyed victory Tuesday in Ohio, Trump padded his lead by winning in Florida, North Carolina and Illinois. The winner of Missouri remains undetermined, with Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz in a tight contest.
With Sen. Marco Rubio bowing out after a dismal performance in Florida, Kasich is expected to become the favored candidate within the Republican establishment, which has watched Trump disrupt its influence. But 30 contests into the primary season, Kasich has an uphill road, and little time.
Whether his candidacy receives a jolt or sputters out by Pennsylvania's April 24 primary remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Kasich's standing on the Pennsylvania ballot is being challenged by a University of Pennsylvania student.
Nathaniel Rome, a Penn sophomore and chairman of the Pennsylvania Students for Rubio network, petitioned Commonwealth Court to remove Kasich from the primary election ballot, alleging that the Ohio governor did not meet the statutory requirement of at least 2,000 signatures on his nominating petition. The signatures were certified by the Pennsylvania secretary of state.
Rome, a resident of Strafford, Chester County, contends in his court filing that as many as 802 of the 2,184 signatures on the Kasich petition are invalid or ineligible, for multiple reasons.
Specifically, Rome claims that many of the signatures of Kasich's electors do not match the signatures of their voter registration cards. Other electors, he says, are either not registered to vote, are not registered in the specified district or are not registered as Republicans. In several instances, the petition challenges illegible signatures or handwriting that appears to belong to third parties other than the stated elector.
At a March 9 court hearing, Kasich's lawyer, Lawrence Otter, acknowledged that his client's campaign did not obtain enough valid signatures to appear on the ballot, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Otter countered, however, that Rome's petition itself is moot because it was filed 13 minutes after a deadline to challenge nominating petitions in Pennsylvania.
"We are fully confident that we will be on the Pennsylvania ballot," said Rob Nichols, campaign spokesman for Kasich for America, has told PhillyVoice.
Elected Ohio's governor in 2010, Kasich pushed a Medicaid expansion through the Republican-controlled legislature. But he also signed a law restricting collective bargaining for public employees, which Ohio voters repealed eight months later. Yet, those same voters overwhelmingly re-elected Kasich in 2014.
