Adrien Brody (born April 14, 1973) is an American actor. He received widespread recognition and acclaim after starring in Roman Polanski's The Pianist (2002), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor at age 29, making him the youngest actor to win in that category. Brody is also the only male American actor to receive the French César Award.
Brody was born in Woodhaven, Queens, New York, the son of Sylvia Plachy, a photographer, and Elliot Brody, a retired history professor and painter. Brody's father is of Polish Jewish descent; Brody's mother – who was raised as a Catholic – was born in Budapest, Hungary, the daughter of a Catholic Hungarian aristocrat father and a Czech Jewish mother. Brody was raised "without a strong connection" to Judaism or Catholicism.
As a child, Brody performed magic shows at children's birthday parties as "The Amazing Adrien". He attended the I.S. 145 Joseph Pulitzer middle school and New York's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. His parents enrolled him in acting classes to distance him from the dangerous children with whom he associated. He attended summer camp at Long Lake Camp for the Arts in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. Brody attended Stony Brook University before transferring to Queens College for a semester.

In Risk, George Young never thought of himself as a detective, but that's pretty much his vocation--an attorney at a top insurance firm, it's his job to pin down suspicious claims. But Mrs. Corbett, the rich, eccentric wife of the firm's founder, has it in mind to put George's skills to a peculiar assignment. With only a few months left to live, her one desire is to know the true circumstance of her son Roger's violent death. George...

Academy Award winning actor, Adrien Brody, made his way to Sway in the Morning yesterday and proved to us why he cannot be put in a box. Sway's Shade 45 morning show is also known to be eclectic, so it was only right that Adrien blew our mind and played his beats while the legendary Souls of Mischief freestyled over them! Adrien Brody's new TV Movie "Houdini" premiers September 1 (and September 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT), a two-part miniseries on the History Channel, chronicling the life of the legendary escape artist. One of the many films to premiere at this year’s SXSW was Adrien Brody’s documentary Stone Barn Castle. He made the film with Kevin Ford and it follows Brody as he attempts to remodel a dilapidated stone barn in upstate New York that’s reminiscent of an old European castle. The project took seven years, beginning just after Brody shot The Brothers Bloom and found himself in a state of uneasiness, and he filmed it under the radar. Shortly before the world premiere I sat down with Brody for an extended video interview. He talked about rebuilding the house, the location, what inspired him to take on the project, contributing music to the film, how and why he kept Stone Barn Castle under wraps, Lee Tamahori’s next film, Emperor, his experience of making The Pianist and working with Roman Pola...

http://www.cbc.ca/thehour That's when the world really took notice of Adrien, but he'd already been making movies for more than a decade. Growing up in Queens, New York, Adrien was encouraged by his parents to act so as to keep out of trouble. He got his first TV acting role at 15 and five years later, he hit the big screen in the Depression-era drama 'King of the Hill.' Then, in 1998, Adrien's break-out role - at least that's what he thought. Adrien got cast as 'Corporal Fife' in a little war flick called 'The Thin Red Line.' But when he went to the premiere, he found most of his scenes had been left on the editing room floor. He's certainly made up for it since though. Adrien rocked as a bisexual punk kid-slash-murder suspect in 'Summer of Sam' and played a Jewish boy coming of age in...

NBC football analyst Rodney Harrison was on a local sports radio show in Houston this morning, and he offered a truly bewildering take on the Colin Kaepernick situation. When asked about Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem, Harrison had this to say: I tell you this, I’m a black man. And Colin Kaepernick, he’s not black. He cannot understand what I face and what other young black men and black people face, or people of color face, on a every single (day) basis. When you walk in a grocery store, and you might have $2,000 or $3,000 in your pocket and you go up in to a Foot Locker and they’re looking at you like you about to steal something. The host then asked Harrison to elaborate on his claim that Kaepernick is not black and is therefore not qualified to stage such a ...

Colin Kaepernick hot takes are all the rage right now. More and more current, and former, NFL stars are weighing in on Kaep's decision to sit during the National Anthem this past weekend but Rodney Harrison really set himself apart from the rest with his assessment of the events. In an interview with Houston's SportsTalk 790 today, the former Patriots and Chargers safety said that Kaepernick doesn't truly understand the injustices that black people face because his biological mother is white. Rodney Harrison Apologizes for Saying Mixed-Race Colin Kaepernick Is ‘Not Black’ Former NFL player and current NBC analyst Rodney Harrison criticized Colin Kaepernick today by saying he’s not black and doesn’t understand the black experience. Kaepernick is mixed-race. In a radio interview, Harrison said that while his heart was in the right place by sitting during the national anthem to speak up about injustices against black Americans, but said that Kaepernick is “not black” and doesn’t understand that firsthand. Hs suggested that Kaepernick should actually get more involved in causes instead of just sitting in protest. A little later, Harrison ended up apologizing on Twitter (he apparently didn’t know Kaepernick was mixed-race):
Re-Inventing Cities Cities are one of humankind's greatest inventions. More than four thousands years ago, we began the process of separating ourselves from the forces of natural Darwinism. By concentrating large numbers of people with wide ranges of interests, beliefs, and skills into high density living, we created the framework for driving forward our civilization. In the 21st century we will come close to completing our evolution into a species of city dwellers. Since 2008 more than 50% of us live in urban areas and by 2050 predictions suggest reaching 80%. To achieve this the world will build in the 21st century as much new urban infrastructure as existed at the end of the 20th century. We are entering the Age of Cities. However, architects, urban planners, public administrators, ag...
