WWE Diva

Diva is a term used by WWE, an American professional wrestling promotion, to refer to its female performers. The term is applied to women who appear as wrestlers, managers or valets, backstage interviewers, or ring announcers.

History

Beginnings: The Moolah Days

In 1983, the Fabulous Moolah, who was the NWA World Women's Champion and legal owner of the title, joined the WWF and sold them the rights to the title after they disaffiliated from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and recognized her as the first WWF Women's Champion. Additionally, the WWF also recognized Moolah as having been champion ever since first winning the title from Judy Grable in 1956 and disregarded other reigns or title losses that occurred during the title's existence in the NWA. Thus, The Fabulous Moolah's reign was considered to have lasted 27 years by the promotion. WWF also introduced the WWF Women's Tag Team Championship with Velvet McIntyre and Princess Victoria recognized as the first champions after also defecting from the NWA.

Diva (magazine)

DIVA is a leading lesbian magazine in the United Kingdom, published monthly. It was launched in 1994 by Millivres Prowler Group Ltd., who also produce Gay Times. The current editor is Jane Czyzselska, who has held the position since 2004. It includes many articles dedicated to lesbian and bisexual social issues, and candid interviews with gay icons and prominent lesbians alike. In November 2008, DIVA was published under the name "The Souvenir Issue" for the purpose of celebrating the 150th issue by including the cover pages of every issue that had been published since April 1994.DIVA has a dating website which was launched in 2013.

Inspired by the Everyday Sexism Project, Diva editor Jane Czyzselska launched the Everyday Lesbophobia campaign in 2013 to document instances of lesbophobia.

Diva (1981 film)

Diva is a 1981 French thriller film directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix, adapted from the novel Diva by Daniel Odier (under the pseudonym Delacorta). It is one of the first French films to let go of the realist mood of 1970s French cinema and return to a colourful, melodic style, later described as cinéma du look.

The film made a successful debut in France in 1981 with 2,281,569 admissions, and had success in the US the next year grossing $2,678,103. The film became a cult classic and was internationally acclaimed.

Plot

Young Parisian postman Jules is obsessed with classical music; he is particularly obsessed with Cynthia Hawkins, a beautiful and celebrated American opera singer who has never allowed any of her performances to be recorded.

Jules attends a recital at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, where Hawkins sings the aria Ebben? Ne andrò lontana from the opera La Wally. He illicitly makes a high-quality bootleg recording of her performance using a Nagra professional tape-recorder. Afterwards, he steals the gown she was wearing from her dressing room.

The third season of the NBC comedy-drama series Parenthood premiered on September 13, 2011 and ended on February 28, 2012. This season consisted of 18 episodes.

Orleans (TV series)

Orleans is an American drama series that aired on CBS from January 7, 1997 through April 10, 1997. It ran for 8 episodes. The series was said to be inspired by the experiences of creator/producer Toni Graphia, who was the daughter of a Louisiana judge.

Synopsis

The show was centered on the character of Judge Luther Charbonnet, portrayed by Larry Hagman. He was a judge seated in New Orleans and had a family that consisted of some wildly different characters. One of the sons was an assistant district attorney, another son was a police officer, and a daughter who ran a casino. An overall backstory to the series was that Judge Luther had another daughter who was missing or had been dead for years, and he had a search going on for information on her. Several "taboo" subjects were touched on this series, including interracial relationships (Judge Luther had a black girlfriend) and incest (the daughter had a relationship with her cousin).

The show was promoted heavily before it had aired, and originally had the old timeslot that Dallas did during its run. However, the ratings were not great, and it was quickly moved to Friday nights.

Missing (The Killing)

"Missing" is the eleventh episode of the American television drama series The Killing, which aired on June 5, 2011. The episode is written by series creator Veena Sud and directed by Nicole Kassell. In the episode, the investigation into Rosie Larsen’s death gets stalled, as the detectives must wait on a warrant. Their time is spent trying to find Jack, Sarah Linden’s missing son.

Plot

At the Wapi Eagle Casino, Detective Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) speaks with casino manager Nicole Jackson (Claudia Ferri) and security chief Roberta Drays (Patti Kim), both of whom deny seeing Rosie. Sarah learns that the casino camera footage gets erased after 24 hours and asks to interview customers. Nicole tells her that she is on Indian land, which is not under state regulation, and orders her to leave. Outside the casino, Sarah calls a district attorney to obtain a warrant on the bank that owns the casino ATMs, so she can review their camera footage. Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) arrives and they discuss the case. She tells him that Rosie's phone and backpack were never found and could be inside the casino. The girl had taken the last ferry to the island on Friday and must have spent the night there. Sarah tells him that the casino manager will offer no help. As her phone begins to ring, Holder calls his sister and leaves a voice mail, saying that he plans to attend his nephew’s school event. Sarah’s call is from her son Jack's school. He has been absent for the past three days. Holder drives Sarah to the motel, where she finds Jack’s phone but not him. Thinking Regi might know where Jack may be, Holder drives Sarah to the marina. However, Regi has already sailed away on her boat. Sarah speaks to the mother of Jack's best friend by phone. She is told that Jack is the leader of a group of boys who cut class and gather at a place called The Tunnel.
