Balasore
Balasore is a strategically located city in the state of Odisha, about 194 kilometres (121 mi) north of the State capital Bhubaneswar, in eastern India. It is the administrative headquarters of Balasore district. It is best known for Chandipur beach. It is also the site of the Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Program's Integrated Test Range, located 18 km. south of Balasore. The Defence Research and Development Organisation developed many different missiles such as Nag, Brahmos, Agni Missile among others here.This is where famous freedom fighter Jatindranath Mukherjee also known as Bagha Jatin got injured and died fighting the British. The most spoken language in Balasore is Odia.
History
Baleshwar district was part of the ancient Kalinga kingdom which later became a territory of Koshala or Utkal, till the death of Mukunda Dev. It was annexed by the Mughal Empire in 1568 and remained as a part of their suzerainty up until 1700s. The British East India Company (EIC) established a factory at Balasore in 1633. As Calcutta rose in importance, Balasore became the center for river pilot services for vessels seeking to ascend the Hooghli River.

From New Digha railway station, you can hire a cab / other local transport (Motor-van & Bike) to reach Talsari.It would take about 15 minutes and cost around 200rs/-.
Attraction:
The serene villages and tall palm trees creates a thrilling experience on the tourists.
The cashew trees sway in the breeze welcoming the visitors. In February, red and orange flowers appear on the plants. The cashew kernel hangs outside the fruit, which is also edible.
One will find only sand dunes on the beach — no heckling hotelier, no screaming hawker, no bargaining tourist. There are a handful of small hotels and a Panthasala run by the Odisha government.
The beach is quite flat and the waves are small and playful. The estuary of the river Subarnarekha River can be seen in the distance. The crests of the waves glow as darkness descends. The full moon rose gradually the night we were there and the beach turned a dreamscape.
There’s a concrete structure on the beach that serves as a fish market in the morning. The catch from the sea is piled on the floor before being sorted and auctioned. The fishermen return in the evening and sit on the beach mending their nets.
Some of them also take the tourists to the river mouth. Early mornings are excellent for a stroll. The beach is quite hard and hence, easy to walk on.

The stream plays hide-and-seek with people. When the stream is brimming, one can only reach the main beach with the help of a boat. But at other times, one can walk across the dry riverbed. The place is fairly windy.
Talasari is one of the less exploited Odisha beaches. The Talsari beach is not as frequently visited by the people as the other beaches of Odisha. The waters of the sea at Talsari beach are not turbulent but calm and peaceful.
Witnessing sunrise and sunset from a gleaming stretch of white sand is a rewarding experience. Another feature of Talsari that fascinates tourists is its backwaters, which one needs to cross to reach the sea.
The calm ambiance, unique receding waters and tropical weather all year round make it a popular destination for adventure seekers and those looking for solitude. It is the last beach in the odisha to the north.
Talasari Beach is a beach in the Baleswar district of Odisha, India. It lies on the north-eastern coast of India.
The name Talasari is derived from the two words Tala (meaning Palm) and Sari/Sarani (meaning row). The palm trees surrounding the place gives such a name to it. The word Tala also means rhythm, which is reflected in the sea waves lapping against the shore.
How to go:
In Odisha, Talasari is 36 km s from Jaleshwar, is the nearest railway station and Bhubaneswar is the nearest airport and is 300 km from Talsari. It's also well connected to Baleswar. However, from West Bengal side, Talsari is only 6 km away from Digha. Most visitors of Talsari are from Bengal anyway. Recently two trains have been launched from Howrah (Kolkata) to New Digha (check irctc.co.in for timing), it is approximately 4 hours journey . From New Digha railway station, you can hire a cab / other local transport (Motor-van & Bike) to reach Talsari.It would take about 15 minutes and cost around 200rs/-.
Attraction:
The serene villages and tall palm trees creates a thrilling experience on the tourists.
The cashew trees sway in the breeze welcoming the visitors. In February, red and orange flowers appear on the plants. The cashew kernel hangs outside the fruit, which is also edible.
One will find only sand dunes on the beach — no heckling hotelier, no screaming hawker, no bargaining tourist. There are a handful of small hotels and a Panthasala run by the Odisha government.
The beach is quite flat and the waves are small and playful. The estuary of the river Subarnarekha River can be seen in the distance. The crests of the waves glow as darkness descends. The full moon rose gradually the night we were there and the beach turned a dreamscape.
There’s a concrete structure on the beach that serves as a fish market in the morning. The catch from the sea is piled on the floor before being sorted and auctioned. The fishermen return in the evening and sit on the beach mending their nets.
Some of them also take the tourists to the river mouth. Early mornings are excellent for a stroll. The beach is quite hard and hence, easy to walk on.

Koh Lipe or Ko Lipe, pronounced as Ko Lee-pae, is the southern most island in Thailand and is one of the many Butang Islands located in the beautiful Tarutao National Marine Park.
Lipe island was first discovered by the Chao Ley (or Sea Gypsies) who would travel from island to island in search of the best fishing in the areas to feed themselves and their tribes. The Chao Ley eventually found a permanent home on Koh Lipe and were given a grant to settle on the island's eastern beach (Koh Lipe Sunrise Beach) and have since remained there.
Pattaya Beach is by far the most populated area on the island so it's more of a busy vibe. The east coast or Sunrise Beach, which stretches from the south to the north of the island, and as the name suggests, faces the sunrise and the northern end of Sunrise Beach, Karma Beach, faces Koh Adang, offers a mix of both so if you want to experience everything be sure to find some accommodation on Sunrise Beach. The west or Sunset Beach offers a relaxed, laid-back vibe to get away from the stresses of daily life. There is also a Koh Lipe Walking Street that is in the middle of the island and connects Pattaya and Sunrise Beach. Walking Street is filled with great accommodation and shops. The island itself is not so difficult to reach, but it's still quite a secret. From the middle of November until late May (high season) you can get to Lipe from several places.
Koh Lipe is an excellent choice for your first or last stop in Thailand as its located in close proximity to Pak Bara, Phuket, Phi Phi Island, Krabi, Hat Yai, and Langkawi, Malaysia. It's also only a hop away to Samui and Koh Tao. These are all of course in the very south of Thailand. Lipe also has an immigration office and is only about 1 hour away from Langkawi in Malaysia, so it's a great place to do a visa run, or exit Thailand from an island.

One of the best trawler designs to come off the drafting board of Jack Hargrave, the Mischief, a 29 foot 1978 Prairie Trawler being readied for extended cruising. Follow the cruise on the ICW from Jacksonville to our home port in 23 days through all types of weather and situations. Prairie Boat Works was bought out by Atlantic & production continued for a few more years. The Prairie 29 is a Jack Hargrave design, the 29 in particular very similar to his later Hatteras 42 Long Range Cruiser from the bow quarter. We have found our Prairie very comfortable to live on, very stable in practically all conditions presented in this series of movies. Things we like: shallow draft capability (2'9"), double shaft bearing seals, excellent fuel mileage (Yanmar 52 hp diesel), heavy construction makes it easy to heat and cool, ease of operation for 2 people. Since the recession, Prairie and Atlantic trawlers sell for a fraction of what they were and are a great boat to live on and cruise (2 people). Other models we had considered: 26 Nordic Tug Trawler (rejected due to size, cost, and lack of flybridge), Sundowner Trawler, Island Gypsy 32 Trawler, Grand Banks 32 Trawler (rejected due to maintenance of wood issues), Eagle 32 Trawler (the closest one we came to buying, but the engine time was very high), various Willard Trawlers (love the style, but to much draft for where we live to be practical). All the previous are great boats, but buying a trawler involves not only the boat, but where it will be used, and the mission it will be on. If you study the boats, try to pick the one that fits the most of your needs, and you'll be one happy boater for a long time. Best of luck! P.S.: these are very fuel efficient trawlers, throttled back to 2200 rpm, slightly over 7 mpg with a 4 blade prop.
